I love the pizzas, 5/5 on the food quality alone, but the value is a tough sell, at double or even triple the price of other local pizza joints, you need to either be pretty well off, top 10% or be kind of irresponsible to come here on any type of regular basis.

I ordered the funghi and pepperoni pizzas, was delicious, ordered again a couple weeks later, still good. high quality taste + consistency, very good!

only reason 4 stars and not 5 is the price makes this place pretty exclusive, but it kind of does reflect the neighborhood so its understandable.

Today I just received the worst service in years of going here. Who's bright idea was it to hire the 2 lazy bonehead teenager boys? They were lazy to take my order, while they continued to gossip and check their phones for some odd reason on the clock. They heated up the few slices I ordered and forgot about them. In return I got bad lazy service and overcooked pizza. 2 things I never ever got from here.

Best pizza in east bay. Lines get long on weekend. Sell pizza by the slice. Good variety. Sometimes cooking is a little inconsistent. Some pizzas are burned.

Limited selection but can recommend the mushroom, sausage/jalapeño, and Julian slices.

Customer service in the evening has been consistently bad last few visits. Most recent time they had no mushroom slices at 6pm. They seem to prioritize DoorDash orders rather than walk-ins. Workers don't seem to want to be there and hygiene is worrisome. Only the pizza chef looked on top of it thankfully.

Hope owners take notice this is going downhill :(

I would say this pizza is amazing especially if you love anchovies pizza here is the spot the only place I can find anchovies pizza. 4/5 for the place. The only thing about this place is small so you can't dine in you have to eat it outside or at a park nearby.

Don't pay attention to anything short of 5 stars. This place is the legit G.O.A.T. in the East Bay. There's 5 things to consider when judging a true gourmet NY slice and they nail all of them every time!

There's lines outside because its worth it. There's no frills because the product speaks for itself. Pizza lovers looking for a new spot. Stop looking and be glad you found this local gem.

I honestly don't review other reviews anymore. Only the bad ones but. I'm from Chicago and we are known for pizza. First time I came here was years ago then I had it again before pandemic and I still think this place has some amazing pizza then a lot of places in SF. Honestly, pizza is not really a thing in Cali I feel like it. But it's okay because there's so many other amazing food out here.

I love the mushroom and the cheese pizza all the flavors is just right.

I used to like this place... It's been a couple of years since my last visit and we felt like pizza tonight. Ordered on line: 1 cheese pizza, 1 mushroom pizza and a César salad ("Acme Levain Croutons, Grana Padano, Lemon-Anchovy Vinaigrette on the side"). The pick-up order was ready right on time, actually a couple of minutes early. Got straight home and that's where it started to fall apart.

This is a really good New York-style pizza joint and I'm constantly on the hunt for the perfect thin crust pizza with that NY-style chewy bite. I tried so many places in the East Bay and this is definitely one of the best in terms of texture and taste of pizza dough. We (hubby, toddler daughter, and I) travelled from Alameda to Berkeley just to try this out.

Seriously good pizza. Like really freaking crazy good. This little place cranks out some of the best pizza in the country. Having tasted great pizza from NYC, Detroit, Montreal and all over the Bay Area I can attest to that fact. From the crust to the sauce their fundamentals are on point add in their classic Italian topping combinations and bam... pizza perfection. As for folks complaining about salty staff all I can say is don't go to NYC.

Delicious pizza but I struggle with the limited options. This time we went with a cheese pizza because my husband and I couldn't agree on any of the toppings (he thinks the mushroom is boring, I don't care for the pepperoni--too salty for me, he doesn't like the spicy sausage & jalapeños, I hate anchovies...you get the picture). We both love their margarita pizza but that one is seasonal and they didn't have it on the menu yet.

5* This berkeley gem has been on my yelp bookmarks for a while. Its very hard in my opinion to find a good pizza place that is consistently good and has a good balance of green, protein and flavor and I think Gioia's has all of the above!

They have a limited menu and the pizza combinations are delicious, fresh and flavorful. My personal favorites are the Julian ( Sausage and Kale) 10/10 along with the Pepperoni 10/10, Spinach garlic 9/10 and Mushroom 9/10. The crust is thin and perfectly crispy and baked so well. My friend SWORE this was the best pizza all around. I didn't believe him. He said the Funghi Pizza pizza was to die for. Yeah, right.

Okay, so I'm at my chiropractor's and realize this pizza place is less than 10 minutes away. So. I order the funghi pizza online thru "slice". You can order it for as soon as possible or pick your on time. I chose my time and headed over there after my chiropractor appointment.
