Early in 2015, Nicco told all of his customers that he'd be retiring very soon. And me? After 15 years of being the #1 fan of Nicco's outrageously good sandwiches, I was showing up every other day to squeeze in just one more flavor experience of the best sub sandwiches I've ever had. When I was a kid growing up in Caldwell, this used to be Pugliesi's Deli.
When Nicco moved in it took me awhile to step inside. One taste of his fresh-made chicken cutlet salad sandwich blew me away! I spread the word to everyone I knew. We are proud to continue in the tradition of serving up the rich complex flavors of Nicco's style of subs, and have added selections that highlight today's fusion foods.

Great place all around! They are currently only doing carside service meaning you have to place your order on their website ahead and wait in your car for them to bring it out.

Find something you do well, and master it. That's Dave's, best chicken cutlet sans and chicken salad. The chicken salad isn't the typical soup of Mayo and cut up rotisserie chicken, it's nice, fresh chicken cutlet it an awesome dressing. Also, the seasoning on the fries along with the sauce, are great. Don't settle for the typical stuff, go here and check it out. Also, I believe the owner brought out our food today and he had an Ernie Ball shirt on, and I use the same strings, so A plus.

Damn.....I'll say it again.....Damn.....Why did it take me 45 years to find this place? Sick Chicken Cutlets! I got a Chicken Cutlet, American Cheese, Bacon, Lettuce, Red Onions, Banana Peppers, & Spicy Mayo on Toasted Garlic Bread. What a masterpiece! You can't go in right now so order through their webpage. Sandwichs are very customizable. ton of options.

The best deli around....we love the chicken salad bowl, but have tried other items on the menu and all have been excellent. We have tried the chicken salad sandwich, Italian sub with extra meat - I think it's 50 slices, wings, chicken parm, and onion rings. Everything is fresh and made perfectly. Thank you for staying open during these times, eating your food has been as close to normal as we could get. Also, always great customer service.

Found this gem last week while in the area and it is for sure my new go when near Caldwell. Great phone demeanor from employees, nice menu options. Had the chicken blt my first visit which was incredible, and the chicken cutlet sandwich the second. Both times the sandwich was amazing. Hot, freshly cooked chicken cutlets, crispy and delicious. Fresh bread. What else do you need.

I have to show this place some love. An old friend from my hometown of CA came out and I always make it a point to show him east coast cuisine. Glad I chose this place. Hands down the best sandwichES we have ever eaten (we got an assortment). Unfortunately, the day we went, they were not serving cold cuts (maybe COVID related). Doesn't matter, the chicken cutlet sandwiches were absolutely phenomenal. Start yourself off right with the Dave's Standard. Perfect crunch you want, bread was soft in the right places, flavor profiles of each sandwich was on point. I live about 30 minutes

My family and I have lived in the area for a couple of years now and every time we passed Dave's Delicious Deli, we always said, "we need to try that place out". We finally ordered there yesterday and I could not have been happier! Not only was the quality of food amazing, but the portions were huge! I thought I was going to get a small "fancy" sandwich, but instead, got very large and hearty sandwich that tasted amazing.
I feel bad we did not order from this place sooner, but we are definitely going to make up for time lost.

Today, I ordered the Dave's Standard chicken cutlet sandwich!!! I usually just eat half of a sandwich, but this sandwich was so good, I HAD TO EAT THE WHOLE THING!!!!
I read a review on how good this sandwich is but it was so much better than I could have imagined!

The hype is true. This tiny place on Bloomfield Avenue serves an absolutely delicious chicken cutlet sub.
I ordered two. They were larger than I expected. My husband and I ended up sharing one for lunch and the other for dinner.
I took Yelp advice to call in order. They need about 20 minutes to prepare your sub because they cook the cutlet fresh. And that makes the taste difference.
I have been wanting to try but was even more motivated when I saw the owner couple in The New York Times as supporters of Andrew Yang. Perhaps he did drop from the presidential race but I love when hard-working

This will be short, at first, as I am still eating! But I'm so excited (by the food) that I want to start this now... When Jackie suggested something with a chicken cutlet, I first thought of "parm," and she said that of course they could do it, but also pointed to four customer favorites at the top of the electronic menu. I'm so glad that I got the one with roasted sweet peppers, melted mozzarella, red onion, and a dash of balsamic vinaigrette. It is awe-some!

I recently started working next door at the salon and the girl introduced me to Dave's deli. They recommend that I get the chicken salad and it was hands down, the best chicken salad I've had. I've been hooked! I had the chicken salad twice so far and now the "basic stuff" sandwich is basically like the salad but with bread and I loved it as well. Dave's Deli knows how to do chicken cutlet right!!! I highly recommend!!

I had to apply some Math in order to provide an accurate review of Dave's Delicious Deli. 5 stars for the sandwiches but only one star for service so Dave gets 3 stars.
Dave should seriously consider firing the woman who takes your order. She has the potential to wreck his business by telling customers they are too busy to make you a sandwich.
If I am turned away one more time... I will never come back. If he fires the woman at the register... I will be a customer for life.

Just ordered for the first time and I am completely impressed! On a recommendation from a patrolman in West Caldwell, we ordered and a big thanks to him as well! Dave's traditional chicken salad bowl is the best salad I have ever had! Me talking about salad is just plain weird but it was amazing. The flavors just married together in perfect harmony! I stopped in at Dave's today for a delicious sandwich! It was my first time here and I decided to try the Dolce Eggplant. The eggplant was cooked perfectly with mozzarella and red peppers (I skipped the onions). I was going to get it to go, but while the place is very small, it's a nice set up with tables and I decided to stay.
The owners are very pleasant and the prices reasonable, especially since the quality of the food is high. I'll definitely stop back to try some of the chicken specials! Give Dave's a try!

Tried the Chicken Parm and Garlic Pasta Fagioli soup. The breaded chicken cutlet is amazing. I would definitely try any sandwich that has the chicken in it. The chicken parm would've been perfect if it had more marinara sauce. The soup was good too. I definitely would come back to try other stuff on the menu, like the chicken salad.

It's not often I roll out 5 stars for a sandwich, but man was this satisfying on all levels. The Nicco original chicken salad sandwich is the (messy) way to go. First off, the portion is ridiculous. It's literally overflowing out of the already large hero, and will continue to do so with every bite. I know, first world problems. Wah wah my sandwich is too full. Anyways, the sandwich itself is diced up chunks of their chicken cutlet in their "awesome sauce" along with lettuce, onions, mayo, and vinegar. The end result here essentially tastes like your classic Italian hero but

The food is great, the atmosphere is great and the owners are great. This is the type of place where everything you try is superb. They seem to really care about the ingredients they use (always fresh) and really put thought into the flavor profiles of their food. The chicken salad sandwich is my go to. Everytime I go, I have to order one with banana peppers. Their store baked chocolate chip cookies are banging, especially if you catch them right out of the oven. Even their dipping sauces are good - try the French fry dipping sauce (which I call the crack sauce because it is so addicting). This

I went to Dave's Deli for the first time yesterday and ordered the Nicco's Famous Chicken salad.
This was not your typical chicken salad, it was breaded chicken cut up with lettuce, mayo, red vinegar and I added banana peppers on a nice, fresh roll. It was the most delicious sandwich I have eaten... ever!
I highly recommend this place.

This place gets really busy at lunch and it seems it's just a husband and wife running the place. They need to hire some help and not discourage people to leave by saying it's a 30-40 minute wait.
Got the Dave's Standard. Great bread. The ham Swiss & peppers go well together. Nice crunchy lettuce. I'm not a fan of Dirty brand chips. I wanna go back and try the soups and a different sandwich.
