Services
Jerry started working as a full-time personal trainer in 2003 while attending Arizona State University. After graduating and getting a solid understanding of personal training and the fitness business, he started Breakthrough Personal Training in 2007, now JY Fitness. A couple years later he moved back to the Bay Area to further his education in the health sciences and continue helping people improve their health and fitness.
JY Fitness is all about a specific, individualized approach to your fitness program. Since everyone has different a goal, background, and fitness level, your training sessions will reflect your specific needs to get the best results possible. During his 18 year career as a personal trainer, Jerry has worked with nearly every population.

Athletes have trainers, so why not you? The Weekend Warriors are a truly inspiring group. They have the self-motivation to train independently in order to perform an activity that has a deep meaning to them. Weekend (or whichever day you compete) runners, cyclists, skiers, lifters, soccer, volleyball, basketball, and football players all can greatly benefit from having a knowledgeable trainer.
When people think about personal training for kids, they often think of beginner weight training and how beneficial or safe it is. Part of youth training is introducing them to weights, but it also includes improving movement quality, balance, and posture. Personal training with us is always safe and the proper amount of weight is added when clients can demonstrate quality exercise form.

Jerry is an amazing fitness trainer and a super nice guy. I came to jerry through a recommendation by a friend. I have had ongoing issues with my feet ever since a surgery 4 years ago. I have been through multiple rounds of physical therapy but none of the sessions really helped until I trained with Jerry.
Jerry's approach I think is more comprehensive including physical training along with massage and stretches. The difference I believe is not just doing the physical therapy but also weight training to fix the core issue.
I highly recommend jerry to anyone who is looking for a solid fitness

Jerry is an excellent trainer who asks the right questions and personalized the program that suits you. He is very invested in ensuring a positive outcome and will guide you with the perfect routine, he is the real deal. I enjoy my workouts and we have seen amazing progress over past 7 years. One of my best workout experiences ever. I recently had the opportunity to train with Jerry and had nothing short of excellent results. From the start, he addressed my specific needs, questions, and concerns and tailored a fitness plan that would help me achieve my goals. He showed me how to properly use different pieces of fitness equipment and taught me various exercises to maximize strength and minimize injury. I take Jerry's bootcamp twice a week and it's a great workout. In fact I'm a bit sore writing this review from yesterday's workout, but it's a good sore. Jerry keeps us all motivated, is very knowledgeable, and pushes us to get a great workout every time. He switches up the exercises so that it doesn't get boring. I highly recommend this class.

I've been working with trainers off and on for many years and Jerry at Breakthrough is easily the best I've worked with. He really listens to what you want to achieve with your health and exercise and comes up with an effective and realistic strategy/plan that takes into account your limitations with schedule and access to exercise equipment etc... He is also good at adapting workouts on the fly to accommodate injuries or physical limitations ( I regularly have some little nagging injury from playing soccer).

I've been participating in Jerry's boot camp workout twice a week for over a year now. I love it. I especially love being outdoors during our workouts. Jerry utilizes the entire track, field, bleachers, goal posts etc. when executing his training plan. He does enough stuff that is repetitive, so we feel confident and then he mixes it up a little to work on new skills and strength areas. I'm 45 years old and I'm racing against my friends down the straightaway of the track...I get the biggest smile on my face when I think about that. I hate it...but it's so fun! I&apos
