Yuhui Chen and her staff are always supremely professional. I have been training with the SBM group for more than eight years. They helped me recover from a broken foot injury while still working out, through an excellent weight loss program with advice on nutrition. They do a lot of fun events as well. I cannot say enough good things about the small personal gym. Strict attention to safety and health codes. As a testimony to that there are a few clients who are well over 80 years old who look amazing and are strong and healthy and I hope to grow up to be just like them. Thanks Yuhui.

Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality
Friendly, upbeat instructors with a variety of great exercises. Instructors are able to modify moves as requested. Zoom classes online make it convenient to still maintain a workout routine while working from home.
Each class has it's own unique style and I enjoy attending them :)

Great trainers that have great attitudes! Trainers definitely have a lot of experience and sharable knowledge. I love that this studio offers many different classes so I can choose the kind of workouts I want, but also can try new types of workouts I never thought I would try (boxing/kickboxing.)

I had an incredible workout with Sean Howard. He pushed me hard during a weekend workout. I was just sore enough, without being too sore. He motivates really well. I recommend the facility and Sean.

5 stars for the two classes I tried -- a HIIT on Monday with Rachel and a TRX class with Chris. Both were great workouts -- it's a no frills gym space (seemed like one half of the gym was for group classes while the other half of the gym was reserved for personal training), teachers were good and I definitely worked up a sweat. Both 6am classes that I attended were a small group -- prob around 5 ppl each -- so it was nice because you got enough attention and correction and never felt like you were going to get into anyone's personal space (or have yours invaded), but also had enough motivation

Super Awesome ;D My left Thigh was bothering me for the past 3 month, I google my issue and believed it was a Groin strain stage 1. The pain had worsen these past 2 weeks. I just happened to be early for work one day and decided to hit the gym. Attended the 45 mins Flexibility and Mobility class taught by Jamii, I stayed and asked a few more questions and she gave me couple more great stretching tips. All I can say my pain went away and I slept like a baby that night :D Thank you SBM Fitness, shout out to Jamii, Thank you so much

The 6 am spinning class taught by Marcus is outstanding. The same is true for his Body Pump class. I had the opportunity to take both, one after the other, recently and found that his intensity and motivation are without equal. I highly recommend his classes.

Just had the boxing class with Jeremy. Very welcoming and energetic dude. I liked the explanations that got you moving and throwing punches right from the start. Really excellent coach and offered advice / feedback at just the right time.

Also enjoyed Jeremy's method of switching between the (freestanding) heavy bag and strength exercises. It kept me from getting sloppy with the bag work. Great class, awesome trainer.

Really great local gym with lots of room for personal training and classes!
I was introduced to the gym by Sean, who is the owner’s son and one of the personal trainers. He’s also a friend of my family, and teachers a high intensity interval training (HIIT) class Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-6:50pm that will really kick your butt. I’m usually there on Tuesday’s, and the class sizes are small. As a result Sean will ask you what areas the group would like to target in that day’s class, and tailor the session to meet your goals.

I love SBM Fitness! Can't say enough about this place. Such a warm and friendly environment, that's always spotless, with all kinds of equipment and super informed and perceptive trainers and instructors.
I've taken the high intensity interval class with Sean and he's amazing and will help to tailor a workout to what you want and need! I recommend SBM and this class to everyone, so if you're looking to get whipped into shape stop on by!

SBM Fitness is an excellent all-around fitness gym. I have been training there with Gina Smith, personal trainer extraordinaire, for the last 2 years. SBM provides a calm environment with all the latest equipment, and everyone is very supportive there, whether you're just beginning your fitness journey or you're a fitness buff. Gina has a wonderful ability to push you just enough without frustrating you, and she's especially adept at training women and understanding the health and nutrition needs of women she works with. She's a whiz with TRX as well. I highly recommend both

Outstanding. Very skilled and friendly personal trainers who enjoy what they are doing. Facility is large, I never feel cramped. And a wide variety of equipment and techniques. I stopped going to the "gym" and now concentrate on SBM, where I get a much better, more targeted, workout in an enjoyable atmosphere.

This is a boutique gym with all the best & most effective equipment to work out 1:1 with your personal trainer in a convenient location in Menlo Park with parking. I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything the bigger gyms offer when I come to SBM Fitness: personalized, targeted & results-oriented training, augmented with the latest equipment likeTRX, reformer, kettle bells, the latest machines, in a clean well lit, discrete environment away from the people watching vibe other gyms down the street are known for.

I had to get ready for Tough Mudder - a grueling 12 mile race designed as a bootcamp by the British special services. I had been jogging and lifting but I really needed a trainer to get me prepared in just 6 weeks. Colin at Empowerment helped with just the right weekly regimen to get my strength and stamina up in time. He had recommendations on diet, and took a wholistic approach including massage, yoga and trail running into account as well. I felt such a sense of accomplishment completing Tough Mudder, and Colin is still my trainer to this day!

I've been working out with Colin for years so I was excited when he decided to open Empowerment Fitness. Colin (and the other trainers, since I have now worked out with them too) make Empowerment a fun place while still motivating you to push yourself, and your workout to make it worthwhile. Although I usually dread working out, when I enter Empowerment it puts a smile on my face. There's nothing pretentious here and nothing routine - everyone just does their best. The staff at SBM Fitness are awesome! The trainers are the best with lots of experience and enthusiasm. The class selection is diverse--yoga, total body fitness, warrior club, trx, crossfit, zumba and more. There is something for everyone!
If you want a personal trainer who is your partner in getting and staying healthy as well as to lose weight or get fit then you want to work with a personal trainer from SBM Fitness because the philosophy is all about helping the client reach her/his fitness goal. Your program will be designed specifically for you.

I love using the services of SBM Fitness at AMP in the Varian Campus Center. The staff maintains a clean facility, responds to requests for change or improvement, and helps both new and familiar faces. The trainers and lifestyle coaches share their knowledge of anatomy, physical form & technique, and nutrition, and I am motivated to return because the trainers want to cater their coaching to my needs. I write from my experience in the Group Training Classes offered by SBM Fitness; the SBM Fitness contribution to my life has been the best perk from working at Varian Medical Systems!
