Joe Pilates called it contrology, the art of control where mind and body work together. We simply call it Pilates. Pilates is a series of resistance and flexibility exercises specifically designed to strengthen muscles as they are stretched and to balance the muscle actions of the body. Pilates builds strength without excess bulk, creating a sleek, toned body and excellent posture.
The Pilates Powerhouse, or the abdominal muscles, with support from underneath by the muscles of the pelvis, back, glutes, and inner thigh region, initiates each and every movement during a typical Pilates training session. Consequently, the entire powerhouse quickly becomes strong and toned. Connected to a strong core, the limbs then have greater freedom to achieve strength and range of motion.

Pilates compliments and tends to improve technique in any sport or modality. The authentic Pilates method evens out muscular and postural imbalances in addition to increasing flexiblity and improving core strength.
Over the years, we have had the pleasure of training members of the United States National Paddling Team, golfers, baseball players, tennis players, basketball players, dancers, Crossfitters, runners, equestrians, swimmers, weekend warriors, exercise enthusiasts, and the soon to be fit.All senior instructors on staff have been certified through Joseph Pilates protege, Romana Kryzanowska, and/or a member of her certifying staff.

The Pilates system can be individually tailored to enhance performance in any sport or modality. Private sessions are designed by the instructor to meet the specific training needs of the individual client. Our instructors will evaluate posture, movement patterns, and areas of strength and weakness.

This is the place for classical Pilates. Erin and Julie know more than any other Pilates instructor I’ve worked with. They know anatomy, physical therapy approaches, and consider all your individual needs. I’ve had several horseback riding injuries and I’m also a hairdresser so there are certain moves that just exacerbate my propensity to be in pain. Both Julie and Erin know how to work my body so that I don’t re-injure those areas. They are the best!

Julie and Erin are the best! They are both very caring professionals with an extensive knowledge about Pilates and how to improve your overall core strength and fitness. I have been going to True Method for two years and they have really helped me with my neck, back and shoulder issues. They offer very personalized sessions and always make sure you are using proper Pilates technique. I have gotten so much stronger, much more flexible and my posture is so much better. If you sit at a desk all day like I do, you need to check out this studio!

Julie Allen runs an amazing Pilates studio. She is a superb instructor who gives individual instruction to help improve your core strength and overall fitness. She personally helped me achieve many PR’s in all of the Marathons and Ultra Marathons that I have done. I have had the pleasure of her instruction for many years. True Method Pilates is hands down the best Pilates studio I have ever utilized. Julie Allen is the owner and the trainer I am most familiar with there. She has an incredible knack for understanding my body and my movements - and being able to provide the tiniest correction to exercises that make a huge difference in their effectiveness. The studio is clean and staff is extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I have been going to True Method Pilates for the last five years and it has been a life changer for me! After two long rounds of physical therapy for back problems and multiple doctors and therapists encouraging me to get into Pilates, I finally listened and found Julie! As someone who deals with chronic pain, I'm so thankful I found Julie and Erin. Julie is an incredibly talented Pilates instructor. If you feel great she can help you feel even better and stronger. If you need help healing from either an injury or just overdoing it, she will work with you so you walk out feeling fantastic. I have taken Pilates for over 10 years (I'm 60) at several different studios in different parts of the country and Julie is one of the best instructors I have had. She is consistently on her game. Julie also has very good Gratz equipment and plenty of it. Erin is also a wonderful instructor, I have had a few lessons with her and always walked out feeling
