Be inspired by our dynamic group of professional dancers and performance artists, who love to share their reverence for the human body and passion for movement. All are Kane School certified -a rigorous training program combining the core principles of Pilates with a modern, clinical perspective on the human body.

This anatomy-based approach goes beyond choreography to explain why exercises work. Our challenging, total-body conditioning programs help improve mind-body awareness, core strength, flexibility, mobility, and balance. Instructors are especially focused on biomechanics and postural imbalances to prevent and treat injuries.

Sound MOVEMENT offers an integrative holistic approach to fitness and mind-body wellness from our fully equipped studio located in the heart of Larchmont village in Westchester County, NY. Sound MOVEMENT offers one-on-one Pilates & GYROTONIC personal training, semi-private duet training as well as intimate group mat classes.
Carson Murphy is one of those rare people who is as talented a teacher as she is a performer. She is so body-smart that she'll take you forward every time; she's challenging, intuitive and joyful. She remembers quirks and old injuries I've had better than I do. Honestly, she's raised the bar for all other teachers.
Pilates is a form of exercises developed to stretch, strengthen, tone and align the body, while helping to relieve excess pressure and stress on the joints and improve posture. Pilates is a mind-body exercise that will help you become more aware of how your body moves and will refresh you physically and mentally to relieve stress.
Pilates ("puh-LAH-tees"), was started by Joseph Pilates who was born in Germany in the year 1880. As a child, he suffered from Asthma, Rickets (underdevelopment in cartilage and new bone due to a vitamin D deficiency) and rheumatic fever. These ailments prompted him to constantly search for ways to improve his physique and endurance.
All instructors are hand selected for their excellence in teaching and intensive study in anatomy, biomechanics, injuries, injury prevention and treatment, as well as scoliosis, and myofascial release. Our goal is to inspire, empower and motivate our clients to gain a better understanding of their body, meet their fitness goals and feel their very best!

No run o'the mill pilates studio here --tis a very special place to nourish mind & body. Young & old alike will benefit from working with these uniquely trained, attentive, passionate, body-smart artists. Since finding the studio in 2011 my posture is noticeably better, I am stronger & have far less back pain. My entire family goes to sound MOVEMENT --where Carson Murphy & team always treat us like family. Love it there!

Sound MOVEMENT made me a believer! I had my doubts, thinking all I needed was jogging. My wife had been doing pilates for years & raved about it. At her behest, I had a session with Carson Murphy --been going twice a week ever since (6+ years now). I feel stronger, sit up straighter & have less aches & pains. This is quite a unique fitness studio, where dancers & performance artists share their special Kane School training & body smarts to make yours stronger & more resilient.

I've always had an amazing experience at sound Movement. The instructors are all very attentive, knowledgeable and versatile in their method. The space itself is clean, and professional without feeling stuffy or sterile. I've always felt each session is completely individualized to my personal needs and my body. No cookie cutter, generic pilates here! I highly recommend to anyone who wants to get stronger, look and feel better, or work through injuries in a great environment!
