While the majority of wineries are set among vineyards in the warm inland valleys, Solterra is situated a couple of blocks from the beach in beautiful north county San Diego. The climate is ideal for wine storage as the humidity is higher and the temperatures are a lot cooler which is ideal for aging our wines in barrel.
Our goal is to offer an educational and satisfying wine experience to residents who will be able to enjoy the process and our wines locally. We have a demonstration vineyard and will be producing all of our wines on premise. There are 2 buildings on site, the tasting room that was built in 1957 which is 1600 sq feet, and the new 3400 square foot building which is the winery.

Services
As more vineyards are planted we look forward to producing more wines from San Diego County fruit. The name "Solterra" is derived from the Latin words - Sun & Earth - the two most important elements in wine production. The Solterra "white" label is for our wines that are from grapes that are only grown in the San Diego county, Temecula, and northern Baja, Mexico.
One of the greatest parts of being a winemaker is the blending portion as it is critical to producing the best possible wine. We outfit you with the tools and a brief tutorial and then it is time to experiment to find a blend that best suits your palate! You can produce a wine that is drier or fruitier, more tannic, or whatever suits your fancy.
Our cuisine is rustic mediterranean with some beautiful California influence. We strive for bold flavors and unique presentations reminiscent of coastal dining along the Mediterranean sea. Our menu changes seasonally and we source local as much as possible. Our meats are sustainable and are ethically grown.
Solterra Winery and Kitchen is an ideal place for your next event, corporate meeting or special occasion and has one of the most unique spaces in San Diego County. We are a working winery and all of our equipment is on site and our barrels are full and stacked 15 feet high. We can accommodate small groups all the way up to 160 attendees.
We also feature an Amphora Club (Refillable 1 Liter Bottles; Amphora's were used by the Greeks and Romans during the Neolitic period as vessels to carry wine). If you live outside the area, we ship 4 times a year. Shipments will arrive in January, April, July and October, depending on the weather in your area.

Haven't been here post pandemic but used to come here all the time with no complaints. Last night my girls and I were craving a cheese board and some good wine. The wine was very tasty - NO complaints there. The problem was the food. The once big charcuterie board was now literally a board full of arugula? We honestly just started laughing when we got it. There were 4 very small slices of cheese and a few pieces of meat and just a ton of olives. We regretted paying $30 for this sad display. We then ordered squash blossoms, which were delicious, but yet again the whole plate was just stuffed with

The food is always great and we love that they have started to bring back some staples on the menu. Ian is always great as a server and makes our experience perfect each time with food and drink recommendations. We love all the new food out of the kitchen from Chef Margo and team. We have never missed on any of their specials. This has become a staple for us.

My experience here overall is amazing I have been here over and over again and every time they always meet beyond expectation. Great food and drinks. Special shout out to chef Margo Rodriguez. I could honestly… say one of my favorite restaurants to go to hands-down. The environment is absolutely fabulous. I love bringing my family and friends here.

Incredible selections in the flight for whites and reds. loved the Cab franc and all of the starters were incredible. The flourless cake was so decadent and the service was amazing. we had the best hostess and… host, they were beyond exceptional with the service they provided. We loved the entire experience, and will go back again.

Good selection of local wines and some from other parts of California. Only wish I was told more about the wines apart from just their names. The service seemed more like bar service rather than a winery experience. We did like the fact that they had a decent amount of food, but even that left a lot to be desired in terms of flavor. Things were on the blander side and could have used a kick to them.
