Our journey began with the origin of our name- CHEVAL, which translates to "horse" in French. The owners, Donna and Dr. Randy Kaufman, were originally looking for a property for their champion show horses and stumbled upon this breath-taking location. They fell in love with the estate that just happened to come with a winery!

Saddle up for this one! Named after the owner's son, authentically made MAVERICK Sangiovese is a blend of our finest varietals. With hints of blackberry & dry cocoa, this blend provides aromas of cherry cola, espresso & red licorice. The perfect balance of structure & acidity. Very nice place, affordable wine testing, and they have animals on the property you can visit (horses, goats, alpacas.)

Everything about this place is amazing . The staff , the beautiful scenery n atmosphere. The animals ! The wine is award winning and it shows ! Literally best wine around this area .

Amazing views and great wine! Fantastic outside seating area with the perfect breeze. Staff is so friendly and welcoming. Cab Franc was our favorite. We became members on our first visit and look forward to bringing our friends back here. And they are pet friendly which is a must! Cheers!

Newer winery and a step up in price from most in the area. The taste makes up for it though! Horses and llamas to say hi to on the farm.

Wine is very good but also very pricey. Be prepared to pay up to $17 per glass of wine. Bottles start at $60 and go up from there. If you want great quality wine at a fair price, try Altopiano. Better wine and less expensive

Loved it! Lisa was awesome and very knowledgeable about the wines. The best wines in the area. They are all organic and use only grapes grown on the property. Worth the extra money. Beautiful views and gorgeous patio! Some beautiful horses to visit as well!

What the heck just happened? We’ve lived in the area for years and didn’t know about this place. My wife had parents watch the kids yesterday so she could sneak me out for some wine for my birthday. When we pulled in I was a bit skeptical. A winery in Escondido?? So we went in. It was nice inside and the people were very friendly. We did a $15 tasting which normally gives 4 tastings but since they were out of some wines they added a 5th.
First was an unfiltered Chardonnay that was good.
Ok...this place is pretty nice.
Second was a Sangiovese rosé. It was awesome! Chilled perfectly. Tasted
