Orange County Guitar Academy was founded by Dr. Payam Larijani, who is a current alumni member of the 2019 UCLA Guitar Ensemble directed by Professor Peter Yates. Payam completed his Doctorate in Musical Arts at Claremont Graduate University with an emphasis on classical guitar performance, music history, and music recording technology.

Dr. Payam Larijani is the greatest musician I ever had.
I have known him more than 10 years. I studied with him at Claremont University for the musical doctoral program for years, and he performed at my annual concert numerous times in Orange County.
Also, many of my students are learning guitar from him, and all of them are satisfied with his teaching and loved his flexible personality.
I highly recommend him as the best musician, performer and instructor.

Dr. Payam is an outstanding teacher. He worked with my son. He is very thorough guitar teacher. You will learn the theory of guitar from a master. His lessons are progressive, and I felt like my son was moving forward quickly. I recommend Dr. Payam for the serious student. Also he has a great ear for good song progression, so if you want help with your song writing he is great for that.

I have had many music teachers and Payam is by far the best one! His patience and teaching skills have really helped me grow in confidence and technical ability. He has incredibly diverse range from classical to classic rock, jazz, reggae- you name it he can teach you. An all around nice guy- I cannot recommend him highly enough.

I would be remissed if I did not take a few minutes to provide a review for the wonderful guitar lessons my son has been getting from Payam. In a way I stumbled into getting introduced to Payam as my workout buddy, Juddy B, could not stop raving about the great lessons his daughter was getting between his heavy sets of bench press. I called Payam and set up a first lesson to see how my son would take to the lessons. As expected with any 8 year old there was some hesitancy getting him to agree to take the lesson but after the first meeting he was instantly hooked. Payam is not only patient but also

Payam is an amazing guitar instructor who takes the time to share with you the skills you are interested in learning. He obviously has a deep knowledge of classical guitar but can help with most styles and found him to excel in all aspects of fingerpicking. I highly recommend him - great and personable.

Our daughter has been taking lessons with Payam for several months and we could not be happier with her progress. Her technique has drastically improved and she has been exposed to a wide variety of guitar masters. Payam is very patient and does a great job explaining things to her in a way she can understand. He knows when to challenge her but also keeps the lessons fun . Whether this ends up being a lifelong hobby, or even something more, we are very confident we have found the best teacher for her. We highly recommend Payam for anyone looking for a guitar instructor.
