Woodward Canyon Winery
Our Tasting Room is open Daily from 10 am - 5 pm, we welcome guests to discover our wines and experience our warm hospitality. Woodward Canyon Crest Club members will receive the iconic wines we've been producing for decades, limited production wines grown at top vineyard sources, as well as exclusive small lots featuring unique varietals, specific vineyard blocks, and single clones.

Rick Small, the founder of Woodward Canyon Winery, grew up in a farming family. He also happens to make some of the state's best Cabernets, and has for more than three decades now. Beautiful vibrant aromas of peach, melon, and light starfruit notes marry perfectly with the beautifully understated oak creating a subtle spice and vanilla.
Services
Woodward Canyon Winery was established in 1981 by Rick Small and his wife, Darcey Fugman-Small. The winery was named for the canyon where Rick's family farmed for multiple generations and where the Woodward Canyon Estate Vineyard is now located. Woodward Canyon was the second winery in the Walla Walla Valley, and the Smalls were instrumental in the process of obtaining federal approval of the Walla Walla Valley Appellation in 1984.
Agricultural interests come naturally to Rick Small, raised as a part of an Eastern Washington wheat farming family. He attended Washington State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from that institution as well as studying in the School of Architecture, before returning to Walla Walla and the family business.
Beautiful vibrant aromas of peach, melon, and light starfruit notes marry perfectly with the beautifully understated oak creating a subtle spice and vanilla. Woodward Canyon has been growing and producing Barbera for over twenty years, making the vines among the oldest in Washington State. 2018 was a warm and dry vintage where we saw beautiful ripening with lovely physiological maturity.
Our Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon label changes every year with work from a different West Coast artist. What better gift to share than that of Art & Wine?. Large formats wines are meant to be enjoyed with great company and make for a memorable gift!. Celebrate your special occasion with this beautifully complex wine that's meant to be shared!.
Woodward Canyon Wine Club Members will receive their long-time favorites - the wines we've been producing for decades, limited production wines grown at top vineyard sources, as well exclusive small lots featuring unique varietals, specific vineyard blocks, single clones, and innovative winemaking methods.

The staff is knowledgeable about wine. Staff is friendly and laid back. They have a good variety of wine. As a first timer this winery is the best introduction to wine tasting. The wine tasting takes place on the lawn with a beautiful scenery of the fields around the winery.

A lovely oasis with some of the most noteworthy wines in Walla Walla. One of the early planters in the county, you can tell the expertise with a wide selection of varietals. My wife and I were made to feel very welcome by Terry, who was willing and able to answer questions as well as provide guidance to Walla Walla newbies. One of the best reserve Cabernets in the area. We can't wait to go back...

This is a very pleasant winery tasting room to visit on the road into Walla Walla. You can taste indoors and outdoors, and all of their wines had fresh, clean, varietal flavors. We preferred the higher end reds.

We visited back in 2014 and were not impressed. However, after reading my review, the owner reached out and invited us back so we could see our experience was an outlier.

Well they were right. We stopped by a week or so ago, without mentioning our disappointment 7 years ago, and the wines were outstanding, the pourer was as knowledgeable as he was engaging. We had a great time and ended up shipping 1/2 a case or so back to CA along with the bottles we took with us.

Nice work guys.

Wonderful experience! Great wines with generous pours in a lovely garden setting. The estate Barbera and estate dolcetto were particular standouts. Staff were lovely, providing great service while wearing masks and keeping things sparkling clean. They allowed us to relax and enjoy the scenery, no rush or hurry. Must-visit for any Walla Walla trip!

Realized after opening the amazing 1998 Charbonneau, still quite young with another decade ahead of it, how long we have been enjoying Woodward Canyon wines. Thanks!

This turned out to be one of our favorite wineries and tastings. The price was reasonable at $10 a tasting and the staff was very friendly. It was such a gorgeous afternoon, that we decided to enjoy our tasting in the their backyard area and it was just beautiful. It's a peaceful area with a wood fire pizza oven, lots of flowers and several seating options.
They offer either a reserve tasting (their more expensive wines) or just their regular tasting at the same cost. We went for the reserve and our friends chose the regular tasting. As it turned out, I think we all enjoyed our choices

The regular tasting room is small, but fun/friendly. The range is wide here from daily pizza drinkers to cellar worthy. On the high side, the estate and old vines versions have lots of depth and dimension for those special occasions. Very worthwhile stop!

Stopped here after L'Ecole but it was this winery's accolades that brought us in! It was so refreshing to meet such nice staff and their pours are generous enough that you actually get to taste their wine! We loved the artist series, but we were most impressed by their old vine cab, this quality and value is impossible to come by!

Woodward was an unplanned stop after visiting L'Ecole next door. We were impressed by the comfortable tasting room, and our wine steward was super approachable, and was willing to not only answer questions but offer suggestions of other wineries.

We spent some time here, and bought bottles of varying prices, but consistent quality. They have moderately priced vintages that are as interesting as their more expensive founder's variety.

We will recommend this to others as a good first stop in Walla Walla.

This was our third stop wine tasting in the Walla Walla area. This was our favorite stop.

The wine flights came in two varieties, but we were able to mix and match a bit. Being partial to red wines, we switched from a white to a red in the flight of 5 tastes. When it was over, we had sampled 8 glasses of their portioned reds, and zeroed in on the red we purchased. The tasting fee was waived when we bought the wine.

The service was excellent, but note that we came mid-week, so there weren't a lot of people in tasting, about 8 at most. The information was helpful, and the descriptions

As a first stop, this winery offered a nice start to our wine tasting weekend. Right next to L'Ecole No. 41, it features a nice patio, awesome tasting room and the opportunity to eat woodfired pizza on Fridays for lunch. Make sure you bring o'deurves and snacks for the kids though. Nearby there are two PokéStops and a gym providing entertainment for the whole family.

The selection includes local varietals, blends and different types of tastings. You can apply the cost of the refundable tasting to a bottle but you cannot apply the cost of the Reserve tasting to a purchase. Prices are
