It's our philosophy that learning through play should be an integral part of every child's development. By playing and making first friends, children acquire a positive self-image, one of the most important building blocks in a child's emotional, social, physical and cognitive growth. Through creative play children learn to share, communicate, to problem solve and build friendships.

Basic educational concepts are always presented in a non-stressful way and are incorporated into the children's daily activities. I believe that children need to experience life through the use of their five senses. For example: seeing a chick hatch from an egg, smelling a flower, hearing a rain-stick, tasting guacamole or feeling a pinecone.
Services
Unlike larger centers in the Bucks County area, we accept only eight infants between the ages of 6 weeks and 22 months in our program. This permits us to give personalized attention and individualized care. Each baby is on his/her own schedule, regardless of their age. They have their own cribs, eat only food provided by parents and eat all their meals in high chairs.
That was my vision 30 years ago and thanks to the support of many families over the years, it continues to be my vision today. I've noticed that in recent years many child care centers have drifted away from creative play toward a focus on academic activities. Worksheets and even homework have become commonplace.
Blocks, trucks, easels, dolls, dress-up clothes and puzzles are some of the toys that delight our toddlers. These children are striving to become independent through their newly acquired skills of walking and talking and we encourage them with plenty of hugs, praise and positive reinforcement. Music, arts and crafts, storytelling, circle time, physical education and fantasy play are important to our toddler program.
Preschool activities foster well-rounded development for children three to five years old. It is during this "free play" that children are learning critical social skills like how to take turns, negotiate and problem solve. There is a balance between teacher directed and child initiated activities.
Designated as a Star 4 center for the past 8 years, First Friends is one of the few child care centers in the Chalfont, New Britain, Doylestown, Buckingham, and Warrington area to receive this high distinction. First Friends is located just off Business Route 202 in New Britain, behind the Town Center Shopping Center.

I have worked at this site for a year and then off and on for a couple years after that. There is a reason I go back. The owner really knows her stuff and keeps up to date on the latest educational concepts. Her staff are people who treat the children as if they are their very own. The small close knit family atmosphere is something you won't find in your larger centers. I recommend this for every child who wants a first and forever friend and any parent who wants a lifetime time support system. They were not only my own children's first friends, but also my very own first career family!

We previously had our daughter at a large national chain type place, when we moved we decided to go with a small local daycare. Best decision we could have made. Our child had an easier time transitioning into this daycare then transitioning between rooms at her old one. Owner is fantastic, staff is great and the amount of things our child is learning here is amazing. If you are looking for a great daycare this is the place you have been looking for, by far the best option in the area out of the ones we looked at (which would be all of them).
