What do you do with a historic 1890's hospital, overlooking Cripple Creek and the surrounding mountains, and just a short walk from casinos, attractions, and fine food? You create a hotel that displays the rich character of the turn of the century and adds modern amenities that make lodging there a true pleasure.
The Hotel St. Nicholas, named for the gold rush-era hospital that once occupied the same building, offers a blend of fascinating history and gracious accommodations in a charming Cripple Creek bed and breakfast inn. These rooms offer the most space with special extras like an attached sitting porch, balcony, and room to accompany an additional roll-away bed.

Not only did the hotel have its nostalgic charm, but the nice people who run it are awesome. My wife and I arrived on Thanksgiving night... and (surprise!) were invited to the crew's wonderful Thanksgiving dinner, complete with turkey and all the fixin's. The breakfast provided helped us get ready for our day exploring Cripple Creek. Yes, the hotel floors creak a little (but we all would if we were 100+) but the historic photos, woodwork and surroundings in the place were great. (I had envisioned the ghost of a nun coming down the hall with a ruler in hand, waiting to swat me... but, fortunately

It is with great pleasure I do this review. The Hotel St. Nicholas in Cripple Creek, CO deserves SIX stars! Quaint, historic, restored, ultra-quiet, ultra-clean, "hospita"ble. Built by the Catholics in 1898, it used to be the city's hospital, full of patients particularly during the 1890-1910 Cripple Creek gold rush.
The staff in our time--two owners and manager--is wonderful. New rugs and furniture everywhere! New bathroom fixtures and elec. outlets. Comfortable new beds. Continuous upgrades. Good radiator heat plus a snazzy space heater in each of the hotel's only 15 rooms

Absolutely fabulous historical hotel. Super clean. Unbelievable staff. Will make your stay in Cripple Creek unforgettable. Bill you're the greatest. Will definitely be back. Like going back over 100 years ago to another time with the decor and atmosphere. Also listed on the National Historical Buildings records.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel St. Nicholas this past week. We booked a room on the third floor with a king-size bed.
First, the Hotel itself is beautiful. Tons of history, gorgeous original wood floors and stairs. Probably the coolest bar in Teller County -- if you go, take a look at the old boiler room equipment behind the bar; it's stunning. Really neat and interesting pool room/parlor with plenty of seating area and lots of quiet space, in case you just want to hang and read a book.
The room was excellent. Bed was soft but very comfortable. The armoire was a nice addition. The small writing

What a treat! Rarely can we find so much history and charm, with such a fair price. The hotel is over 120 years old with an amazing history as a hospital. It has a family feel with a breakfast room, gift shop, beautiful art for sale, a parlor with fireplace and piano, and a cozy onsite bar. We would love to stay again. If you need polish and posh, this is not for you. If you like authentic and historical, you will love it.

I haven't stayed yet but wanted to share my experience of using booking.com. I made my reservation on booking.com and they didn't ask for a credit card. When it was complete, I called the hotel make sure we had a reservation. (We did). When I told them it was for 2 people, they upgraded us from a 2 double bed room to a king size room for the same price! I am looking forward to our stay!

Probably the most charming and authentic bed and breakfast hotel I've ever stayed in (and I've stayed in a lot!). The owner, Brad, is so hospitable and informative on the history of this haunted (?) building that used to be a hospital. The breakfast is nothing to write home about, but I still rated it 5 stars, because of the character of the rooms, the reasonable cost, and the super friendly staff. Additionally, no visit to the hotel is complete without sitting down for a drink at the unique Boiler Room bar!!

Best hotel experience we have ever had! The attention to detail in keeping with the old hospital theme was spot on! Take the time to notice all the small details, you won't be disappointed. Bill, the inn keeper , was always available for any thing we needed. He even entertained us in the living room. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!!!! The hotel was super clean and everything was well kept and worked great. The spooky stories that go with the hotel made it an adventure!

Had a wonderful stay here with my wife for a Cripple Creek weekend getaway. Called and made reservation, rates are reasonable. This hotel is a renovated hospital from 1898 and has a lot of character. The Boiler Room Tavern downstairs is a must. There are tales of hauntings in this hotel. Adequate parking and easy walk to Wild Wood. We used shuttle service for other casinos as it is on a steep hill. Transit around town was easy and the owner gave us all the information we needed. Shuttles usually arrived 2-4 minutes after we called. I had to pick up some shot glasses and a mug because I wanted

Interesting and quaint bed and breakfast! They had a one man operation the day we stayed there and he was very nice. We were slightly early but he welcomed us into our room and let us check in early. The floorboards were very creaky and our room was a little warmer than we liked but overall we had a nice stay. Within walking distance to the casinos and Main Street.

A very interesting place to stay! It's spotless, pleasant, and well done. It's like a really big bed and breakfast. The patio with the hot tub has really nice views. The place is old, so the floors creak a bit, but that's part of the fun of it! I stayed in room 11 which is allegedly haunted, but no ghosts visited! It was really nice to be away from the casinos, up where the views and quiet were much appreciated. It's only about three blocks from the main drag, but it's a steep hill. However, some of the casinos offer to come get you and take you to the main part

We were taken aback by the beauty and serenity of this hotel! The owner is lovely and allowed us to explore the hotel when we stayed there. We captured the image of an entity on a digital phone- it was life changing. The bartender in its quaint hotel bar was so much fun and there's a great game room too. We are going back this weekend to enjoy "travelling back in time" at the St. Nicholas.

Husband and I stayed here over a weekend in June. The Boiler Room Tavern was a lot of fun. We really enjoyed our stay and definitely plan on going back. The actual locals of Cripple Creek and Victor were really nice and welcoming. Our room was nice and cozy with a beautiful view of the mountains and town. I found this hotel to be a lot of fun, will definitely recommend it. The weekend we stayed there, the cable was out, which in a way was nice because it forced us to go to the Boiler Room Tavern and converse with other travelers and locals.

I went on a solo trip to Cripple Creek back in January 08. I did research online as well as with a Colorado guide book and found the Hotel St. Nicholas.
The price was reasonable and the hotel is very unique. It used to be the hospital in Cripple Creek. They have a small bar called the "Boiler Room" with drinks and bar snacks. I thought the prices were fair.
I was the only registered guest so they upgraded me to the nicest room there. I was very impressed. This room had a small sitting area overlooking the front of the hotel. The room also had its own bathroom which was small

St. Nick hotel is supposedly haunted and was originally built as a hospital back in the 1890's. The owners of this place have certainly done as much as possible to keep the integrity of the era present within its walls. As with any older hotel you have to remember that you will be making certain sacrifices such as air conditioning. There was a pretty cool looking bar downstairs and they have a small restaurant inside. My biggest complaints were that they didn't open breakfast earlier and everything was closed in the morning... no one was at the front desk to check out. Also, because I
