Among the many lessons from this past year and a half, one is gratitude for our blessings, for the sight that allows us to see them, and for those who help us in remembering them. Another is the vision that looks forward into time and space with dedication to seeing and making the beauty and goodness we desire to be a part of.
There is also the lesson of urgency: to do now what needs to be done. Called Chicha, in celebration of the ever-youthful sub-culture of Lima's artists and musicians, it explores the street foods of Peru's coastal capital. Chicha is available to-go (pick-up & delivery), as well as on our small but beautiful patios.

Founded in 2003, Andina draws inspiration from the native culinary traditions of Peru and the cooking of the country's leading chefs. We bring the warmth of the Peruvian spirit into every aspect of the dining experience. Our dishes, music, and art, all carry stories. We take pride in presenting food born of love.
Chicha is where we bring the best of Peru's street cuisine to Portland - for on-site and take-away dining. You'll recognize some dishes and drinks from Andina's past menus; but most dishes are new, the creations of Executive Chef Alexander Diestra, who was born and raised in the historic Pacific port city of Callao - home of, among other exceptional things, the famed cebiche carretillero.

First time my wife and I ate here, it was an amazing experience. My experience yesterday though wasn’t very good. The menu options were limited, and the food wasn’t very good. My Pollo a La Brasa was $25, and there wasn’t very much food. The chicken was decent, but it lacked flavor. At this price, I was expecting a lot more. The Lomo Saltado had way too many onions, and the white rice was flavorless. Hopefully if my wife and I do go back, the experience will be worth the very expensive tab.

Good Peruvian food with a very vibrant scene. Service of good and the food serving is quick as I guess they like to turn the table around a few times.
I enjoyed the Happy Hours where the food is delicious and price for drinks are reasonable. Pisco Sour which the Peruvian claimed it was created by them but the Chilean "copied" it, is a refreshing cocktail.

You know those times when you fantasize about something so much that when it actually happens its either mind blowing or you are left wondering was it even that good ? Andina was a mix between those two feelings for me.I live very close to the area and have planned for a dinner so many times here but life happens and I was never able to make it . The hubby had visited before and had rave reviews and so I was determined to go and was already pretty sure that I am going to love it . I highly recommend making reservations as I had been turned away numerous times for walk-in and so this time I made

We were passing by portland on our way to Seattle from San Francisco. Given that we were tired from the road trip, it probably wasnt the best idea for us to be going to a tapas place. But it was right there when we were walking around trying to find food. We ordered a couple of appetizers and the lomo saltado entree with drinks. I cannot tell you how disappointed we were with all of them. My wine was basically the portion of a taster and the lomo saltado seemed like it was just tomatoes and puree with really old/hard beef chunks. I cannot imagine why this restaurant has gotten so many good reviews

It's decent. I've been here before for a company party and the food was better than expected. I came back again for some dinner and drinks, they sat us upstairs next to the bar. They had most of the windows open, with a breeze and the rain, the restaurant was pretty chilly but they didn't turn up the heat. The food came out, great display for all items. But the taste didn't really match up the expectation. Also the pricing was very expensive for the portion too. Cool ambiance, food didn't meet expectations for me.

We selected Andina's prior to our visit to Portland. I suggest reservations and have your COVID vaccination card available to be seated. We appreciated that they are taking the pandemic seriously. My husband is Peruvian and we love Peruvian food! Andina's was a good choice. I will say many of their dishes were Peruvian with a twist, which made for a unique food experience. However, for me I prefer a slightly more traditional menu, but my husband really loved the chef's creations.
Lomo Saltado- It was large portion, enough for two people to share. At first glance it looked like

Went here for a nice Thursday dinner to beat the Friday NYE's crowd. Food was tasty, especially the tapitas peruanas, beef heart and octopus skewers. I've had much better ceviche elsewhere. The entrees, however, were very small for the high price. The "shareable" entree (lomo saltado) was barely enough for 1 in terms of protein; I'm assuming they expected us to fill up on rice and fries. Not worth nearly $50. The Añejo tequila they served was flat (according to hubby), plus the pour was tiny. My passionfruit cocktail was excellent. Overall, the restaurant had a beautiful ambience and good service

Since Andina is a tapas place be sure to come with a larger group so you can sample more things! It felt like overkill to come just for two since we had plenty on the menu we wanted to try so when a friend was in town that is when we decided to go.
Booked two weeks in advance and there wasn't an issue. When you check in they check your vaccinations status and wait until your time. We weren't able to get seated a little before our reservation time. Indoors space is cute and you're spaced out far enough from other tables where it's not noisy.

When my guy asked what my favorite restaurant is in Portland, without hesitation I named Andina. While I don't come often enough, I come when I can, and there's never been a meal I disliked. And the drinks...Sacsayhuman -- hands down this brings me back here. I can never remember the name but I remember the spicy sweet notes of it.
The staff is always courteous, service impeccable, and food that brings comfort. The carpaccio was full of flavor, and the game hen cooked to perfection.
Andina holds an even more special moment in my heart as my man proposed to me here! He set it up with

5 stars but a message for management to read and improve. We’ve loved this place for years and still do. We are happy to see it come back after the first part of the pandemic. We’re told they have a new chef and the food is still amazing; for the most part. We had the new version of Seco and the Carapulcra. Amazing dishes! The taste and quality of both are in line with a restaurant of this caliber; not something you can find at a cheaper Peruvian restaurant. But we also tried the Ceviche, and although the fish was fresh and the ingredients were of great quality, the taste was missing something

Looking for a night out with a superb dinning experience? Look no further than Andina. Reservations are available, which is a plus for me. The customer service is above a beyond, quite important to ensure a great night ahead. The food, delicious! If I could, alone I'd rate the dishes a 10! Started the night with Yuca Frita, the sauce really made the dish. Main dish ordered was Pollo a la Brasa, it was half a grilled game hen and cold potatoes. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the flavors all mixed to create an unbelievable taste. And let's not forget the drinks! I highly recommend

I visited Andina based on recommendations from friends. This restaurant has seemingly been a local favorite, so I had to check it out.
The first thing I noticed was that the interior decor was beautiful. The vibe was relaxing, environment lightly dimmed, yet the restaurant was busy with customers and staff.
I ordered the cebiche 5 elementos and the causa de cangrejo. The restaurant changes it's menu often, so you might not find these same items the next time you visit (though I think they always have the ceviche).
Although the the cebiche 5 elementos was the most highly recommended item

Went here with my wife and was amazed at how good the Peruvian style food was and the tapas! A little bit upscale but worth every penny and at a decent price AND It's in a great location to roam around at night after your dinner or before your meal and there's some dessert places nearby of course you can walk to the top off your night. The drinks are a good price as well but my favorite dish is Escabeche de Pollito! The ambience and the design of the inside is great and it feels very European so you kind of feel like you're someplace else and not Portland.

A place I have had fond memories of and will continue to recommend—
My first visit was back around 2008 where I had an amazing experience and likewise up until 2015. Hadn’t been back until now, obviously post 2020. This visit while different (tried to get seated as a walk-in and had to make a reservations to return on another night) was still amazing. I’ll say our waiter Rex was absolutely perfect — genuinely warm and kind, a good sense of humor and the right timing without being overbearing or a disappearing act which could have easily occurred because it was quite busy.

Update
This restaurant went from one of our favorites to a restaurant we don't even bother going into any more.
Back open after the start of covid-19 Andina has appeared to have gone even further downhill than before the pandemic. Take one look at the new menu and it is evident that they aren't even trying. All the great looking items on the google review aren't even on the menu anymore.
I guess their outdoor patio restaurant that offers takeout is pretty good but, the indoor dining at the parent restaurant Andina just isn't worth the price tag.

I dined at Andina during my first visit to Portland in 2003. My wife and I were blown away by the cooking. It was unique, hearty and delicious. One of the owners, a charming woman, stopped by our table to describe our dishes and her passion for Peruvian cuisine was contagious. We returned the next night for another gracious experience.

Andina is a great! We started with a potato and crab stack (served cold) and the yuca fries. Both were amazing. The vibe is great, and the service was top notch. Don't get uncomfortable there are some things on the menu that you might need to ask what they are, but the staff warns you when you sit down. Don't worry I asked about 3 different things.
We had dinner as well. We had four in the group, we all had something different. The Albacore, tenderloin for 2, and the Gnocchi. All were very good. The sauce on the tenderloin was amazing. The Albacore might have been the star of the show

While I have a special place in my heart, Andina isn't what they used to be. There is apparently a new chef, and I understand they were closed for some time during covid. But the menu is now about 1/3 the size it used to be and outrageously expensive now.. $12 for the yuca? And they don't have the amazing sauces any longer.. don't ask for them by the way, the tiny serving is now $2 a piece. Never again.
While the food and flavors were delicious, I won't be going again for a very long time. $300 for 5 people was enough to get us full, and a hefty price to pay with slim pickings

I'm gonna be honest, I was a little disappointed. My partner ate here once many years ago and was very excited to return. We ordered quite a few dishes to share amongst ourselves, and while everything was good, nothing really blew me away. When I pay higher prices for a meal I expect a higher quality. I don't feel like I got that. That said, the atmosphere was pleasant and the staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our time there but I don't think I'll be coming back.

I will never forget the quinoa cannoli dessert I had here. It had some mango, cream and I'm not sure what else but it was excellent. Possibly the best dessert I have tried at any restaurant! The whole table loved it.
The decor of the restaurant was lovely and the service was fast. The entree was okay, not something amazing. But the empanadas were tasty. If I visit Portland in the future, I would come back here for the dessert and empanadas for sure! Please read the parking signs outside thoroughly. It's very easy to get a ticket, meters are patrolled frequently and we completely misread
