Food was awful. It didn’t even taste like Indian food, seems like they just hired a bunch of Indians looking for some quick cash then called the place Indian. It should honestly be illegal to serve food as bad as this. It was expensive too for such low quantity food. There were only 3 pieces of tofu in the dish me and my brother ordered. The food was cut rate, the place stunk, plus the silverware was unclean. The service was bad too. We waited an hour for food just for it to be something we could’ve whipped up at home in 10 minutes tops. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, especially

Highly overrated, food was sub-standard, we didn’t like it and was expensive too.
Don’t waste your time and money here.
They have used chana daal instead of toor daal while making dal takda, worst dal takda I have ever ate. In Shahi paneer they added capsicum, comeon there is a difference in Shahi paneer and Kadai paneer 😅
Really really disappointed, google need to add zero star or dislike button.

My family Loves Blu Taj! The food is perfect 98% of the time. We order every Wednesday when we are in town. Blu Taj is quite frankly our most reliable restaurant. When we call they automatically know our order. Our favorites are Lamb Vindaloo, Chicken Mehti Curry, Spinach and Naan. The people who work there are personable and very nice too.

Who would of thought there was good...no, great Indian cuisine deep in the heart of Charlotte? Certainly not me. I was very pleased with the look and decor of the Blue Taj, almost as much as I was with the food. I got an Indian staple, saag paneer and literally smiled when I took the first bite. Naan was fresh and delicious. There were 5 levels of spice available if you don't do spicy foods. I got a level 4 and it was perfect for my adventurous palette. Great place, will visit again next time I am in Charlotte on business!

Really tasty food and the ambience was really nice. Definitely try the Chicken Methi Curry! Servers were friendly as well. My only suggestion for the owner is to attach felt pads to the bottom of the chairs so whenever patrons or servers slide the chairs out they don’t cause such a loud noise.

We have been back twice since our first visit. The food and service have been exceptional. Here is a tip - ask for Mr. Harvinder. He understands individual customer's taste and does his magic so the food is just right! Once again, our compliments to the chef(s). We are hooked.

The Blue Taj is an extremely well designed Indian restaurant compared to the other around Charlotte.
This restaurant separate itself from others due to actually servicing hand crafted cocktails being that they are an Indian restaurant. Although, most of our dishes were delicious they came out lukewarm. Even at a level 5 the food wasn't spicy at all. Personally, I wouldn't be back but it was a nice experience. I rather just get take out. Usually, that's the best type of Indian.

Mid level Indian food for upscale prices. You pay for the location and the ambiance more than for the food itself. The food is good and this is a great place to take a date. If you're primary concern is the food go somewhere better. For the same price you can go to some pretty amazing whole in the walls in the Charlotte area.

We recently had dinner here for my birthday and since my knowledge of Indian cuisine is limited i ordered based on my sister’s suggestions. The service was very good and I thought the food was amazing. Would definitely go back again.

Worse Indian food I've ever eaten in the USA. If you like bland, tasteless Indian food than this is your place. If you're looking for masaledar, "authentic" Indian food, avoid the place. We ordered 3 paneer chilli, 2 roti, 1 mango lassi and shaahi paneer and it was 95 dollars. I never write food reviews and this place deserves it. First of all, it's very hard to find. Secondly, seating arrangements are very uncomfortable and the service is as bad as it get. Waited 35 mins to get food and it wasn't even that much food that we ordered.

The place is too small and very loud, it's also very dark. I felt as if in a cave. The food though very good and tasty was hard to enjoy with everyone trying to be louder than the next person

Worst food in town..Ordered Naan and goat curry. Naan was burnt and curry was over cooked. Only chaat was good enough to eat. Very disappointing. Drove 30 mins for this😔. Asian server was really kind to offer us naan for to go when we confessed that we didn't like the food but we didn't take for free as well. I don't know where that hair came from. I'm pretty sure that's not mine.

We are plant based and have been here a few times. The Aloo Gobi is what we usually get. To be dairy free they have to leave off yogurt sauce. We get spicy at a number 4. The rice (that comes with it) is very good. We have eaten at Copper (their sister restaurant in Dilworth) and I thought the food was not as good and was more expensive. There is a parking deck right next to the restaurant.
Service was ok. 1st time we were recommended this dish by our waiter. He did not say anything about the yogurt (hopefully he asked for it to be left off). But then we came back for takeout twice and did not

Tried many Indian restaurants in Charlotte but got the disappointments only. Then found this. Amazing food. Great services. Malai kofta is a must try. Chicken tikka masala could've been better, chicken was bit hard and chewy. Other than that it's a great place to have indian food.

Delicious, amazing flavors! We've been lucky to have Indian food across many places i around the globe, including India and this was amongst the top. The menu has many options with many different flavor profiles. We ordered a variety of dishes from veg, meat and poultry. The lamb was extremely tender, chicken was nice chunks of white meat and the veg tasted like it was stewed for a long time. One less star for portion size which was decent but less than expected for the price point.

My absolute favorite Indian meal in Clt. I'm so glad they survived this last year and a half! I always get the same thing, but that's because it feels like home. If you're vegetarian, I highly recommend the paneer tikka masala. You can order it as spicy as you want and sop it up with the garlic naan. I also always get an order of the veggie samosas. They give you enough food for at least two meals, so I look forward to eating it the next day. Love you guys!!

If it is your first time here, like it was mine, the restaurant might seem hidden. It is not on the outside like most of the other restaurants, it's kinda hidden on the inside so be on the lookout. The restaurant is very attractive and could be a nice spot for a date or romantic dinner. The service was great and very quick. We started with some garlic naan and then each ordered a chicken dish. I need to warn you that when you ask for something to be made spicy here they actually do it. Many places I can order the hottest level and it is pretty weak but here they make it spicy!! So if

This was hands down the best Indian food I've ever had. From our appetizer to the entree to dessert it could not have been better. Service was good as well. I wish I could say more, but all I can say is TRY THIS PLACE!! I loved it.

A friend recommended this restaurant, and while the food was delicious, the service was not good. We waited for over an hour to get our food. Our server was very nice but didn't follow up on the food timely, which resulted in ridiculous wait times. When we asked the manager to check when we may receive our food, she didn't even come back to apologize, or give us a status. They never offered a drink or dessert to apologize, then our check came and they didn't even discount the food. Very disappointed.

Alright I'm gonna be honest...I'm not a huge Indian food type of person. BUT if you ask me to go to Blue Taj with you, I won't say no. Their food is delicious! I'm always down for their chicken tikka masala and garlic naan Their biryani and kabab are also delish!

Really really mediocre. Forgettable flavors all around and very boring, unfortunately.

Tried the leek kofta, aloo gobi, chicken tikka masala, and Subz Shaan e Awadh accompanied by garlic and pershwani naan and mango lassi. I was disappointed because while the dishes looked rich and creamy, the flavor was just . . . lacking. I expected bold flavors and seasoning and while nothing was necessarily bad or unpleasant, it just wasn't good. From the curries to the dough, to the rice, all around the flavors were really boring. The only thing I liked was the mango lassi.

But for such a mediocre experience

It's been a hot second since I've been down to Ballantyne due to COVID and working from home, but my office is very close to the shopping center/area where Blue Taj is located and I've been known to frequent it for a lunch with coworkers.

They have a great abbreviated lunch menu. I am assuming these items come out of the kitchen much faster and are advantageous if people are pressed for time, but you can still order from the regular menu as well.

Not sure if they have transitioned to all take out due to current conditions, but I really hope they are still around once it is safe

Friend.
We had a party of six with a reservation and were immediately sat. I loved the ambiance! Dim lighting and red printed on the wall.
The service was impeccable. No water glass dipped below 75% full and silverware removed and replaced between appetizers and entrees.
We got the cauliflower appetizer, vegetarian sampler and naan to share. I personally got the Kerala Style Seafood Curry- with basmati rice. Yes, I think there should be a side that comes with it at $21 but still throughly enjoyed. The seafood cooked perfectly though would have loved a touch more. The curry sauce what dreams
