Matthew's training philosophy can be summed up in one word: efficient. His goal is to help clients achieve their desired results in the most efficient and effective ways possible. His methods incorporate over 20 years of experience he has training clients, as well as himself, and his dedication to continuing education and pursuit of knowledge.
Following an initial meeting and evaluation, we began working three months ago. My balance and strength has vastly improved, my energy level has skyrocketed and I don't "hunch over" nearly as much. Matthew motivates with positive reinforcement, changes workout routines regularly to keep them interesting, and ensures that I am making steady progress.

Matt and I were roommates in college. After spending time with him and listening to his passion, he made me realize that I too shared that same interest and passion. I am a UNC faculty living in Chapel Hill. I had a pretty serious back injury in 2016 when I was training for a Marathon race. After recovering from that injury I started working out with personal trainers at UNC recreation center and then at one of the local gyms. Those personal trainers did not do a satisfactory job; I left the gym in both cases with another injury after less than 6 sessions and had to stop training for a couple of months to recover. I was pretty devastated and thinking I could never get back to shape.

I have been working out with Matt for 6 months and a year for my husband. It's been amazing! I'm so surprised with the changes I've seen and also the nutrition counseling has been a game changer for our family of 6. It's great to have training personally tailored to your needs and problem areas and he is fantastic to work with! I can't say enough great things. I had been a happy customer of Matthew for 2+years until recently when he canceled my regular 2 session time slots per week because one time I did not show up on a scheduled session (all sessions scheduled not canceled in advanced are charged, show or no show). Later on I tried to explain (meeting grant submission deadline) and asked he not to remove my sessions but Matthew said regardless my reasons he would not change his mind. Then I asked for refund of 14 sessions I still have left and he refused. Apparently no-refund is on the agreement I signed. Matthew had a plan to schedule me on time slots

My general goals when I started working out with Matthew 6 months ago were to be stronger and leaner, and to better understand what was meant by "you are what you eat." Specifically, I wanted to lose body fat in certain areas, be more tone overall, and bring more power and strength to my tennis game. Working out with Matthew has been an eye opening experience. I have tried many different workout regimens over the years, but have never been able to stick with them or reach my desired goals. Matthew uses his expertise as well as general fitness, nutrition, personality assessments to develop an individualized plan that will work for YOU! Matt is an amazing trainer. I'm a long time yogi but I've never been a "gym person". I knew if I wanted to kick things up a notch and get into great shape I'd have to hire someone to keep me accountable. I told Matt my goals and he crafts the perfect workout for me, changing it up regularly to keep it challenging and interesting. His Biosignature nutritional & lifestyle training has also helped me clue into where my eating/ sleeping/ exercise patterns are working for or against me. I feel stronger and look more toned than I have in years. I know each session will be hard work but It's gratifying

Best trainer I have ever had. Attention to detail is incredible. Listens to desires of each client, while also considering individual exercises necessary for injury prevention, personal medical history, etc. Tough, but kind overall health coach. Very knowledgeable about training, nutrition, supplements, health maintenance, etc. Will push you beyond your own goals. Can't speak highly enough.
