The food was delicious but the sliced brisket I received was like 90% fat so that was disappointing.

We sought this place out after seeing the most delicious looking meals from here on Instagram. There's a good amount of indoor/outdoor seating and the inside was decorated nicely and there were several tvs on with the football game on in the back. We went on a Saturday night and although it was pretty packed we were greeted and sat immediately by friendly staff.

They had a good variety of beer and I especially liked the Sellwood Collins cocktail. The food was super tasty and I loved the Ozark sauce, we had the brisket and fried chicken plate and it was just the right amount of food. This

We ate the food too quickly to take a picture. That's how good it is the "reverend burger" and fries, and the pulled brisket was the perfect start to our new year. Treat yourself.

Had the chopped pork sandwich with fries, both were delicious. Great food and beer selection, and we felt really safe eating inside with their spacious seating and great covid protocols

Reverends is awesome. We live in the hood and come here often. A friend was in town visiting and so we got the meat plate sampler. It was so good! The ribs are amazing, the pork shoulder is great, the brisket is lovely, and the fried chicken is some of the best around. And those sides....mmmm...mmmmm 😋.
Left with a big container of leftovers!

Reverend’s Barbecue is very tasty I had the brisket sandwich and I enjoyed it. I ordered a pound and a half of brisket for $47. When I get home and open the box I was very disappointing to see I had a half a pound of fat.

Unanimously terrible

We ordered the platter (serves 4) and everyone agreed it was literally the worst BBQ we had ever tried to eat. The brisket was literally all fat, the ribs were all bone and overcooked and the shoulder was inedible. All the sides were equally terrible. I have been smoking my own meats for over 20 years and know a thing or two about meats.

I ordered takeout and the food was really good. The Mac and cheese and slaw were a little bland but my mom is southern so I find her food to be superior than most southern restaurants in the PNW. That being said, this place is surprisingly good and one of the better bbq places I've been to in this region of the US.

Can we stop allowing "BBQ" spots to have "BBQ" in their name when they have no knowledge of making BBQ?! This place is a true disappointment, and I hope to god I caught them on an off day. I'm not comparing them to Texas BBQ, but even for Oregon/Washington standard this is truly awful BBQ. Majority of the brisket was dry, and the fat to meat ratio is disturbing. I shouldn't have to cut off the fat because it's difficult to eat. Brisket is something you eat without using a knife, but only a fork, or better yet, a spoon. I highly suggest the owners visit other

We got the meal for 4 and took the leftovers home to eat for the week. One thing is you HAVE to try the chopped pork. We forget how much we all love it, and fight over the portion. It's so flavorful! Service was fast, restaurant was clean and surprisingly quiet even though it was full of patrons.

Brisket, fried chicken thighs, collard greens, mac & cheese; all tasted amazing. So much flavour. The accompanying sauces were really tasty & not too sweet.
The chicken was succulent, the seasoning really tasty, & it was crispy!
The brisket was a little fatty, with the meat being ever so slightly dry, but the blend of both fat & meat made it taste just fine.
The collard greens were phenomenal, with the cider vinegar steep adding so much flavour & a nice subtle heat. The mac & cheese was creamy, with a nice crispy top. Both greens and pasta weren't salty, a problem I usually face with sides.

My wife and I stopped at Reverends for dinner and we both ordered the beef brisket with 2 sides.
The meat was over cooked and 25% of it was pure fat. We both received 2 pieces of brisket with sides .
At $24.45 .each, it was well over priced considering 25% was fat. For us, not again.

I'd say their BBQ is okay. Spare ribs was nice but not so tender as I expected. Brisket was not well trimmed (very thick fat cap), though the bark and the smoke flavor were good.

Somebody wrote of disappointment about no sauce in a Door Dash order and said it should be an unspoken rule in the barbecue world.

The unspoken rule in the barbecue world is this: if your 'cue needs sauce, it's trash.

The Rev has great sauce. But his food doesn't need it.

Kudos to the friendly staff, and top quality food. The place is family-friendly, and teeming with patrons of all types frequently. That alone should tell you how great they are.

Dined this afternoon for lunch. Right now they are taking COVID precautions very seriously, but almost to the detriment of the customer experience. I've never been a fan of counter service restaurants personally as I think part of the experience of dining out is table service. That being said, Reverends is doing counter service ordering. Food is brought to the table and you do have to bus your own table.
As far as the food, it was just okay. I ordered the brisket sandwich with a side of mac and cheese and my husband got the burger with fries. The sandwiches were both good, however the sides were

Cool vibe and a nice patio. Service was friendly and efficient. We ordered a platter to try a little bit of everything. I didn't think the BBQ was that spectacular, the meat was fatty and the amount of BBQ sauce we got was quite limited, but prices are reasonable and we felt safe Covid-wise. I didn't like the way they cook the collard greens and the polenta was quite mushy but the macaroni and cheese was really tasty. I wouldn't crave the food again but we enjoyed our time there.

During pandemic, I'm searching for more ribs and Reverend's the next I craved for, since I remember I gave them a positive review the last time we were there. This is just an update.

Everything was just delicious, the wait was a tad longer, this was a Easter Sunday, btw, and they were busy!

I thought the ribs were too smokey, they were tender, they were tasty, & moist (as usual you'd expect from them).

Next time, we'll try their chicken. Why we didn't have chicken this time? We already had them not too long ago!

I was craving BBQ and checked out Yelp to see what was good. Reverends came up, had options for the three of us so we placed an order through DoorDash.
I ordered the Carolina chopped pork dinner with collard… greens and bbq beans. TONS of pork that was moist and scrumptious. The greens were very good and the bbq were the best I have had, with chunks of pork in them instead of bacon.
The hubby got the chopped pork sandwich with potato salad and the kid got the fried chicken sandwich with seasoned fries. All yummy and everyone was satisfied.
My only issue was I had ordered an extra piece of

Delicious sandwiches and tasty sides.

On our last takeout order we had the BBQ beef brisket, the fried chicken sandwich, and the chopped pork shoulder sandwich. The BBQ brisket and the fried chicken are real hits. The pork is also very good, a nice change of pace. For sides we ordered the excellent collard greens, the potato salad, and the mac and cheese. All were very good, just what you'd expect.

Our only snag on this most recent order was the pickup wait time. Since Reverend's wasn't accepting phone orders that night, we had to do everything on line. The computer then gave us

This was a takeout order in the midst of the pandemic.

The stars of the show were the ribs. Smokey, tender, moist. The sides (beans and cole slaw) for me weren't my faves, however I can see where someone would disagree with my tastes. The cole slaw is a quite vinegary type, and if you like that, this is your slaw. The bar-b-que beans had a tremendous amount of meat in them, and again, this may be your preference in beans.

I also asked if they served the point-cut of the beef brisket (the marbled -- or "fatty" -- side of the brisket), since many, many 'que shops are afraid

First things first, the outside seating is really nice. There are plenty of tables socially distanced. The only thing I wasn't too fond of is that we all have to touch the same water pitcher if you opt to get water to drink.

The menu isn't overwhelming and there is something on it for everyone. I ordered the pulled pork, mac and cheese, and greens. The boyfriend ordered the brisket, mac and cheese, and fries.

The pork was tender, juicy, and very flavorful. That gets 5 stars. The mac and cheese and greens had potential but they really fell flat for me. The mac and cheese noodles and

Yay for outside dining!
Finally visited this restaurant as it's been on my Portland bucket list for some time now.
There is outside dining and it can accommodate a larger group size if needed - dining is first come first serve for reference. I was in a party of 6 and we all sat very comfortably.

I do believe the menu has been paired down some due to the pandemic. I was really looking forward to the chicken wings and those were not an option.

Even with a smaller menu there is still a lot to choose from - and they do have a tempeh sandwich so for vegetarians or vegans you can eat here!

So glad I finally got to stop by Reverends BBQ after having it bookmarked for the longest time! So glad they offer take out and have a great patio area (despite it being close due to the recent fires).

I ordered two BBQ dinner plates: sliced beef brisket and smoked St. Louis-cut pork ribs. Each plate comes with two sides, so we got their BBQ beans, Mac and cheese, seasoned fries, and chopped slaw. The BBQ was so juicy and tender and all their sides paired perfectly with the meat! I would definitely recommend coming here if you're ever craving good BBQ and some comfort food!
