Edged by rivers and salt marsh, the James Island life + style is urban but closer to nature-Wappoo Creek and Stono River sunsets, bicycling and boating, sea island farm markets. We're less blockbuster and more indie film. For dinner, we're looking for a good wine or local beer and maybe some roasted Folly River oysters or wood-fired pizza.

Within a few minutes' walk or bike ride, you can be at the Terrace Plaza, home to the only theater in Charleston to show the best independent films, Terrace Theater.

I sold my house in Atlanta and have been living at The Standard for 3 months. It is such a great apartment community. Great location, my apartment is really nice and the office staff is super helpful. The on site maintenance is extremely efficient, the grounds are well kept and the atmosphere is very charming. I have not lived in an Apartment for over 30 years but I am so glad to be living here. Highly recommend The Standard.

The staff at The Standard is excellent! Shawn, the general manager, goes out of his way to help. He cares that things are done well. Amanda and Lauren are capable and always nice to deal with. If a problem arises- they are there to help take care of it. The maintenance crew is great and gets work done promptly!

I am here visiting my friends who have lived here for almost a year. The property is beautiful and so convenient to all the great things Charleston has to offer. I have met some very nice people, some have lived here for 5 years or more. I think the property is about 6 years old. I've met some people who planned to eventually move out to buy a house, but they loved living at the Standard so much, they decided to stay. Shawn, Lauren, and Amanda go above and beyond to make sure you are enjoying your home.

Just want you to know that all the dedication, effort, and patience it takes to maintain a facility of this size, with so many residents, does not go unnoticed! I have been living at the Standard James island for 4 years, and this year has been the best yet. The staff, the management and the maintenance are 1st class and so sweet, so helpful and so efficient. The apartments are beautiful and the location is perfect: Walking distance to shops restaurants and entertainment, 15 minute drive to downtown Charleston Folly beach and Mount Pleasant. Who can ask for anything more.?
I truly love it here, again thanks to all who work in making this place a sweet home... and the diversity of the residents makes it even better. Plus we have great organized events

Byron Bunting in Maintenance is wonderful. Extremely attentive to repairs and very communicative when he has a work order open for your apartment. He takes much pride in his work and aims to improve our community on a daily basis. Thank you team standard for providing such an amazing technician to care for our community.

Pros: Exterior is beautiful. Interior design is lovely. Interior corridors + parking garage give building a secure feel, location is top notch. Cons: AT MOVE IN apartment was by far the dirtiest place I’ve ever lived despite “luxury “ image. Mildew and mold in all windows/doors. Doors have moldy seals and leak with rain. Vents completely covered in dust and dirt. Dishwasher maintains slimy free standing water. Garbage disposal doesn’t work properly. Biggest issue: apartment has a strong musty / oily odor that I thought would go away once clean and aired out. Have SCRUBBED the apartment

I am a 79 year old woman. I moved down to Charleston to be with one of my daughters. However, her house is not ready yet, leaving me alone without the help of my daughters only to find that most business here is conducted on the phone or laptop. I keep going down to Shawn Denny to help me with everything that had to be down or up loaded or down loaded on my phone.

The management staff is fantastic, my leasing consultant, Amanda, was top notch at explaining the intricacies of the property at a level I could understand and very easy to talk to. All of the staff from the property manager to the assistant property manager was respectful and very personable. The property itself is in pristine condition, I absolutely love the security and peace of mind. The location of the property cannot be beaten. You are paying for high quality service and amenities.
