OPA staff are highly-trained and compassionate, always putting patients first. Founding member of OPA, Neel Jolepalem, M.D., remains active in the practice, while serving as attending psychiatrist for St. Joseph Mercy Oakland and Director of Medical Education, Behavioral Health Department, and Medical Director for Havenwyck Hospital.

OPA is a group of behavioral health professionals who have a long tradition for providing behavioral health services in Oakland County, Michigan for over 30 years. OPA's services include psychiatric evaluations, medication management, counseling services, and psychological testing. Services are offered in an in-patient setting, partial hospitalization setting and outpatient setting.
Services
Due to the increasing volume of prescription phone requests we ask that you call at least 72 hours prior to running out of medication. Prescriptions will not be called in on weekends. Prescriptions cannot be called in for some controlled substances, i.e. stimulant medication. There will be a charge for any appointment missed or cancelled without 24 hour notice, at the provider's discretion.
OPA offers testing and assessment (psychological, educational and neurocognitive) services for the purposes of evaluating a patient toward the effort of arriving at a definitive diagnosis. The testing and assessment process also provides an opportunity to identify particular strengths and weaknesses of an individual patient.
OPA offers marital and conjoint therapy sessions. OPA staff first carefully evaluate each member of the couple to ensure that no other condition is interfering with the marital or familial relationship. From there, individuals are brought together to begin conjoint therapy.

Important steps in therapy include: reducing blame and negativity within the couple or family; creating common goals toward which individuals can work (both independently and together); and developing and implementing plans in order to accomplish these goals. The therapist may help the couple or family with: communication skills; coping techniques; patterns of interaction; and any other important areas of stress.
OPA providers offer Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for the treatment of anxiety and depressive disorders. This therapy combines behavioral exposure therapy along with cognitive restructuring to help enable the patient to confront avoidances, correct negative automatic thoughts, and return to optimal functioning.
OPA providers offer a weekly women's support group, emphasizing goal setting, self-acceptance and positive coping skills toward a wide range of issues effecting women on a daily basis including most notably: self-esteem, work related problems, depression, anxiety, intimacy, sex, money, relationships, divorce, aging, grief and addictive behaviors.

I too, think the reception staff is incredibly rude and unprofessional.
I've had issues with my co-pays not being recorded properly. I always pay my $10 before I leave the office. They basically won't even let you leave without paying, so how am I behind? Turns out they were trying to charge me for canceled appointments. They actually charged my insurance for those same canceled appointments. Sad, because I loved the lady I was talking to but I can't deal with the others.

They don't care about your well-being and the AMA should be notified aboout their less-than-scrupulous practices. They call to confirm your appointment three days ahead of time - which is good, but they call from a restricted number that goes straight into your voicemail. You can't call back to cancel and reschedule. This means that you'll be charged double when you can't show up, and through no fault of your own because they never.answer.the.phone.to.the.actual.office. Never. I have paid 180 dollars for 5 minutes of Jaime Ayala's time.
Call the AMA. They will send you documents to fill out to

I've had issues off and on with this place for a few years. More than one doctor, constant med changes, issues with payment, etc. Recently, I missed 2 appointments, completely by accident. Not only is the missed appointment fee completely OUTRAGEOUS, the concern for my well being for missing the appointment is completely non existent. So, then I get a letter from my doctor that she removed me from her service. Wow! That's a great way to help someone with mental health issues. It wasn't a nail appointment. When I missed it, why wasn't she concerned enough to contact me and make sure I'm ok? Nope

I've been to many psychiatrist's and therapist's. I've been going here for 7 years I believe. The ladies at the desk are absolutely wonderful. It is a very busy place but it's worth it.

I can not put into words how rude and disrespectful all the receptionists are. They won’t even look at you while you talk with them and if you have any problems with payment or stuff like that they just give a “not my problem” attitude. Disgusting

This is a wonderful establishment and secretary staff by the names of Rita, Cathy and Cheryl deserve recognition as the factors which clearly separate this office from any other type of healthcare operation I’ve encountered. Their experience, compassion and genuine care for patients/consumers is exceptional and I’d recommend Oakland Pyschiatric Associates to any friend or relative looking to improve their mental health. Thank you OPA, sincerely.
