Bayona
BAYONA was opened in 1990 by Regina Keever and Chef Susan Spicer. Located in a 1769 Creole cottage in the heart of the romantic French Quarter, New Orleans. Our mission is to provide excellent fine dining in a comfortable and casual setting. Bayona and Chef Susan have gained world wide recognition for our award winning food and hand curated selection of fine wines and spirits.

We look forward everyday to gifting our unique dining experience to every guest who walks through our doors.
Services
Our charming cottage, courtyard, and carriageway take you back in time, though our cuisine includes the current techniques of modern cooking. The main dining area is comprised of three rooms, each different in decor but all with a warm, comfortable ambience. Terra cotta-colored walls, dark green faux-marble accents, huge hand-colored photographs of Italian gardens, and tromp l'oeil Mediterranean landscapes lend an elegant European feel.
Over the last 30 years Chef Susan Spicer has crafted a global menu that brings traditional favorites to a new level. With influences from Spain, Italy and France balanced with the flavors of the Mediterranean, India, and the Orient. Along with Chef du Cuisine Eason Barksdale, Chef Spicer continues to develop new flavors from the ever-growing selection of local produce.
Our Sommelier Kathleen Smith has developed the wine selection at Bayona which has consistently been described as one of the most eclectic and diverse in North America. We currently maintain approximately 600 individual wines with thousands of temperature controlled bottles that are cellared and carefully aged on site.

Really delicious food and great service! Would definitely recommend! The steak was tender, the fish in green curry was delicious and their desserts are amazing!

Went for New Year's Eve dinner and wanted to love it, but they were sold out of literally half the menu, so a bit of a disappointment. Server was great though (name escapes me).

Sadly, this was not the experience we expected. My mother ordered a glass of red wine which was awful. She sensed that the sommelier was upset that she wasn't ordering a bottle and, upon tasting it, felt like she got the dregs of some other bottles. When he inquired about how she liked it she honestly told him it was awful. Not rudely, just truthfully, and he couldn't seem to care less. She asked for a different wine and he returned with the same wine in a different glass. My sister tasted it and agreed it was the same wine. My sister ordered the duck, which was average and my mother

Omg this place!! Not only is the outside area so gorgeous, the food, the waitstaff- everything, incredible!
Highly recommend sitting outside.
We got the pâté, the sweet potato rolls (incredible and so warm with the delicious butter) the salmon (holy moly) and the gulf fish with green curry (delicious) for desert we got the sweet potato cheese cake (so good!) and for drinks we got the beet margarita- that was SO GOOD! Highly recommend! Steven and staff (a woman and man with glasses) were so kind, so attentive, and overall the best. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

This is a fine dining experience that was overly enjoyable. The staff was accommodating and friendly and the food was very flavorful. They went out if their way to make this intimate dining experience one that usually happens in Europe. The Caesar salad is light and very flavorful and big enough to share. You will truly enjoy your dining experience here.

Wonderful warm, friendly service. Calming ambiance and each room is decorated differently with rich colors that make you feel cozy and fancy.

Lovely by-the-glass options with our favorite being the rosè cremant! Loving French wine I was happily surprised they had cremant, then it was my favorite rosè version!

We ordered a few different dishes and was happy to see they were all sized proportionately so we could enjoy many different items.

The garlic soup was so subtle, light and delicate. It is so well balanced that no matter how much (or not as much) you enjoy garlic, it's beautiful

Not only was the food amazing, the staff makes the experience next level.
The sweet potato bread, goat cheese crouton, lamb, rabbit, and salmon were outstanding and reflected the cultural cuisine well.
The staff made it feel like we stepped into a family kitchen, warm, welcoming, and like they were our best friends for years.
This is a staple in the French quarter that everyone should try!

I would highly recommend Bayona to anyone looking for a great dining and local New Orleans food, ambiance and great service. The food was delicious and cocktails very tasty. The beetnick was my favorite! The… goat cheese crouton appetizer and eggplant caviar are out of this world. Also, don’t skip the garlic soup. The BBQ shrimp was one of the best I’ve had so far. Stop by, check this place out and say hi to Andre 😊

Located in the French quarter this unassuming restaurant located in a beautifully restored creole cottage has become a New Orleans staple. This was my first time visiting the restaurant by chef Susan Spicer, and it is easy to see why it has won the numerous awards in it's resume (including a James beard). When you first approach the restaurant, you might miss the small sign on the street. Walking up to the main entrance through the side courtyard immediately gives you a sense of the charm of this place. Large windows make the inside feel larger than it is and the patio was romantic and

We had a special meal at Bayona, having secured reservations a week ahead for 7:00. Our party of 3 was open to trying a delicious pasta dish with mussels and shrimp with plenty of garlic. Delicious! We also had Quail salad which was crispy and tasty and Hare three ways. Absolutely fabulous. You who enjoy your vino will like this news: the wines we enjoyed were marked up only 2x retail which is very fair. We all enjoyed desserts as well and service was impeccable.

Asked for appetizers and were told the chef likes everything ordered "at the same time" very odd. Very rude to our group overall :/ tried to talk to the manager (while she was sipping champagne at a table) and she literally walked away from us while we were speaking. Granted we're visiting after a hurricane and post covid...still...very disappointing...very unprofessional

Best restaurant, by far, in the French Quarter. Friendly staff and delicious food. And, remarkably reasonable for the high standard of cuisine that they serve. Only steps away from Bourbon Street but it feels like a peaceful hundred miles away. Highly recommended!

My first meal in New Orleans, and what a meal! I showed up a little worried b/c I eat plant-based, the restaurant's website was hazy on vegan options, and, well, I was in New Orleans -- not the most vegan-friendly place.

But when I asked about off-menu vegan options, the server simply asked what I'd like, rather than giving me a resounding F-U as I'd expect from a fine dining establishment in such a meat-centric city.

I asked the chef to surprise me, and he did, w a concoction of broccoli, mushrooms, gochujang and other ingredients that could only have been arrived at through

During arrival the front desk greeted us for a quick second and then continued going over what looked like accounting matters. Sarah our head waitress greeted us, but told us that we could not order appetizers UNTIL we were READY to order our entrees. We had just arrived in town and we were EXTREMELY hungry and figured we could at least get a head… start on the appetizers while we made up our minds about the entree since it was our first time at this restaurant. This I think was UNCALLED for, in all our travels to Europe, Asia, North and Central America we were NEVER denied the opportunity

Bayona offers a unique dining experience just north of Bourbon Street.

My friend is vegan and while there weren't any vegan options on the menu, our waitress was excellent and put in a word with the kitchen and they were happy to make a vegan entree that he enjoyed thoroughly.

I tried the simple Bayona salad which contained greens, balsamic vinaigrette and parmesan. The salad was light and refreshing and the dressing was excellent.

For my main course, I went for the pacific salmon. It was also excellent. I loved the way it was prepared and the serving of fish was generous.

I tried

The service was outstanding and every precaution was made during this COVID madness. Made the dining experience in their courtyard that much better.

Now for the food highlights. OMG! Their garlic soup is heavenly! Silky with the perfect crunch of the crispy garlic. I would of licked the bowl clean if i was in the confines of my own home. Their passion fruit tart was divine. Perfect blend of sweet and tart.

Make sure to make a reservation!

Let me preface this review by saying that Bayona has been a favorite of mine for at least 13 years. It is pricey and I am not a regular. That being said, I have eaten there 5-6 times and adored every bite of food and treasured every experience. Until February 26, 2021. My party of 5 had a 8:30 pm reservation. Three of the party members were out of town guests and one was celebrating her birthday. My husband was a first time visitor and we have been saving to make this night extra special while holding back no expense. We were promptly seated. We placed our drink orders and contemplated the appetizers

I've had a lot of good food in my day. I've met some world renowned chefs as well. This meal was unassuming yet earth shattering. I started the meal by throttling myself at the first course in preparation for what I only imagined what was to come. "This is a marathon, not a sprint Steph, calm down." I put my tongue back in my mouth as resisted all urges to lick the plate of what was only the first course. The rest of the meal continued to delight my palate into a state of culinary delusion.

The waitstaff also delivered exceptional service. Not too pushy, not too present, but

This is a review for Bayona pre covid.

Bayona changes the menu rather frequently- every couple of months. We were on the final day of that particular menu when we went on a Thursday for lunch.

We ordered the duck sandwich and beef short ribs.
The duck sandwich had way too much bread
The duck was lost in all of the bread as the taste of the bread was hidden. There also wasn't enough duck to begin with. My boyfriend is French so he was disappointed in this rendition of the duck. He said it's fine if someone isn't expecting to taste duck but for someone who is they should skip it

If I could give this place zero stars I would. The service was terrible and the food was even worse! I got extremely sick right after having the garlic soup. We needed to leave because my stomach could not handle that horrid soup. The fish we had tasted terrible and the salad was ok.

We will never be back and we warn others not to dine here. If you do venture here against my strong opinion not to, please do not get the garlic soup. I am in so much pain right now after having it. I have no clue what they put in it that would make me so terribly ill!

The food was over priced compared to the quality

First post-Covid dining experience here was great! My friend and I popped in for their new happy hour and stayed over into dinner service which starts at 5:00 (HH according to their FB is from 3:00-5:50). Discounted wines and beer, but no discounted cocktails. Three small bites plates - deviled eggs (a weakness of mine, AMAZING), caponata, and mussels. We split the dreamy Duck pb&j for dinner, my absolute favorite that I have waited months to taste again!
Servers all followed mask protocol and tables appeared to be six feet apart. Bayona is also starting brunch service- we took a peek at

Bayona has been on my bucket list for TWELVE years! Thanks to a concert planned during the last week of COOLINARY, I finally made it!

The food was excellent! Between the Ahi Tuna and roasted shishito peppers, our palettes were primed for entrees. My guest enjoyed the most amazing roasted lamb, and my fish with the dumplings and Asian broth was EVERYTHING! Typically if I order fish it's "smothered and covered" mmkay? So this straightforward and aromatic preparation was to die for. Sadly desserts were boring and forgettable. My rum bahba tasted like a stale donut with ice cream on
