West Georgia Eye Care Center has been serving the Columbus community with exceptional eye care since 1951. The clinic has since grown to become the largest multi-specialty ophthalmic practice in the area, with eleven ophthalmologists, two optometrists and a staff of more than 85 people.

Dr. Cannon, a Florida native, joined West Georgia Eye Care Center in 2005. He is a member of an elite field of surgeons who specialize in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, brows and tear drains as well as general ophthalmology. There are no other oculoplastic surgeons in the Columbus area.
Dr. Timothy Kao (pronounced "Gow") was born in Iowa and grew up Minneapolis, Minnesota. He earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota in 2011 before going on to complete an internship at the Hennepin County Medical Center in downtown Minneapolis. He returned to the University of Minnesota for a residency in ophthalmology, which he completed in 2015.
Dr. Leary specializes in dry eye treatments, contact lens evaluations, and the treatment of non-surgical eye diseases. He is certified in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of ocular disease and is board eligible for the American Board of Optometry. Dr. Leary enjoys seeing families, children, and positively affecting people's lives by giving them the best possible vision correction.
Dr. Mayfield is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in surgery and diseases of the retina and vitreous. As a fellowship-trained retinologist, Dr. Mayfield received advanced training for the management of retinal detachment, including pars plana vitrectomy, scleral buckling, and pneumatic retinopexy.

I absolutely loved my experience with Dr. Paulk and his assistant Jessica (she is wonderful with my 3 year old) but the check out desk ladies are rude! They had me in tears today, humiliated me and talked down to me about out of pocket fees and how my insurance works, as if I don't know. They are condescending beyond belief. We just moved here from across the country and things have been stressful and my eyes have been painful with infections for over a month and they really made me feel terrible today. I will be coming back but I expect better treatment when checking out at the back desk. If it

I had a really quick and easy time getting help with an eye infection. Dr. Paulke put me at ease by asking me if I had any questions, multiple times. He talked me through the procedure to remove the infection from my eye and even did so during the procedure so I wouldn’t be surprised by anything. The staff and the doctors were all very friendly and professional and conversational. I felt like a person to them, not just another patient. I definitely recommend going here!

Donna, Danielle, Jessica, Kelly, Dr. Mayfield, Dr. Brooks, and all the nurses and staff at West Georgia Eye Care are absolutely the nicest, most efficient group of medical professionals. When I described my symptoms, they got me an immediate appointment, and I was worked into the surgery schedule the SAME day! Incredible experience from start to finish.

My 4 year old came here after having a bad eye exam at his pediatrician and school. I loved doctor Leary and the tech that worked with him. Very personable and kind. The wait time once we were in the room became a little much for my 4 year old. I only give 4 stars because once we were done and went through the optical section, they weren’t friendly at all. One lady was trying to be nice, but the other woman could have cared less to be there or to be nice to us. So I chose not to buy glasses there because of this. Our appointment lasted about a total of 2 hours from start to finish.

I like how well this business is organized and managed. Unlike other physicians offices where you have to wait a long time to get from front to the back and then to see the dr. The time is very accurate with my appointment time. Dr. Curran is very detailed and thorough with my exams and questions. I appreciate and trust his knowledge and recommendations. I admire him and a lot of my friends and family do also.
