Heathwood Inn
In 1989, the 1890 barn-shaped Inn and Carriage House were converted from a single-family farmhouse to Heathwood Inn. Located in out of town Bar Harbor, just 4 miles from the Acadia National Park entrance and 7 miles from in town Bar Harbor, our location is appreciated for avoiding the crowds in town.

Acadia National Park entrance is only 4 miles away and the quaint, well-visited town of Bar Harbor, Maine is only a 7 mile ride. Heathwood Inn is at the heart of the amazing and spectacular Acadia area. Visitors to Maine find our area to be superb, as it offers the photographer an unending canvas, and ever available activities for those who love the outdoors.

Highly recommend!
Everything you need in a very comfortable environment! We stayed in the master room and had plenty of space to walk around, the bathroom was spacious, the bed was super comfy... the in room coffee is good too! The location was great, a short drive to Acadia... we found out the last day that the free park bus picks up at the end of the driveway!
Also got to meet Lena for a quick moment, delightful lady with a great story!

Felt like staying with family in a good way, space was abundant but very usable. Limited space to place our clothes, we would definitely stay again!

The Heathwood Inn is a wonderful place to stay when visiting Bar Harbor, Maine. We rented the Eden Room on the ground floor and were surprised how large it was and nicely furnished. Highly recommend it.

My dtay at Heathwood inns has been exactly what I had in mind for a peaceful getaway. Everyone is very nice and the community area is very warm and cozy. Each room has a nice name and decorated nicely. Come with robes and your own bathroom which was a pleasant surprise. Lena is amazing she is so kind and helpful even if she's all the way down in Florida visiting Family. She's truly amazing 🙏 my made getaway complete. My room has a fireplace, tv, table with chairs, dresser, fan, and it's very quite. I will recommend this place to anyone that comes up here and to everyone that reads this. I highley

A little concerned here. About a half hour before check out, I was loading the luggage into the car, and a full grown man walked into our room while my girlfriend was in the bathroom getting dressed.

He claimed he was checking the smoke detector and didn't know anyone was in the room.

Not sure how anyone would fail to realize that the room was occupied, the door was locked, the TV was on and her belongings were on the edge of the bed.

Mind you, the bathroom door is made of glass and completely see through.

She felt incredibly uncomfortable and carried that with her the rest of the

Perfect Place to stay on Mr. Desert Island. Everything is a short drive away. Bountiful & delicious breakfast served every morning and the hosts (D&D) were very friendly, accommodating, and awesome. Rooms were clean, beds were comfy, and I soaked in the big tub at least once a day. We stayed a wonderful relaxing week. Thanks again for everything ♥

Just lived this place. The host were great. The food was wonderful in the morning. Right on the bus route which goes all over the park and is free. You can also take your bike on the outside of the bus. Rooms were very clean.

We felt so welcomed and comfortable during our stay! Dana and Lena were extremely hospital, kind, and gracious hosts. The homemade breakfast was delicious, the room was beautiful, and the location was fantastic-close enough to Bar Harbor and Acadia without being in the midst of the chaos. Highly recommend!

A great place if you're looking to be close to Acadia- Lena's Breakfast is AMAZING! We stayed in the Master's Suite.... Which came complete with a very nice private bathroom and private deck. We loved sitting out after a night in Bar Harbor and look up at the stars. A beautiful place to stay if you're looking for a weekend retreat.

Best b&b around. Only a few miles from the mountain. Owners are a very friendly family. Your choice of rooms:). Menu to fill out for breakfast, also bikes if you would like to use, if you have a roof rack you can kayak as well.

Best B&B ever, hands down. My husband and I have been coming to Bar Harbor 4 years in a row, and we always make a point to stay at Heathwood.

3 reasons why you should visit, too:
1) The food. Delicious, creative homemade breakfasts - always a huge spread with fruit, two kinds of baked goods, and one dish of eggs/sausage. Coffee and juice are plentiful. After breakfast, there are always cookies and extra baked goods sitting out in the foyer/dining room if you want a snack with your afternoon tea/coffee.

2) Rooms are extremely comfortable and homey, and very clean.

3) Karen, the innkeeper

Wow! What a pleasurable stay at the Heathwood Inn. First of all, any inn that is on the long and winding road title is definitely a winner. It is a very romantic setting, a nice beautiful white house with a small cottage where the inn owner Karen stays. The inside of the house is decorated in a classy, tasteful traditional style and the room that we stayed in was furnished very well as well. The pictures on the website did not do justice to our Acadia room! As for the brunch- this may be your sole reason for staying here. Great frittata in the morning as well as homemade peach muffins and sausage
