Our training philosophy is simple; provide our clients with the most effective, current, and researched training techniques in a motivating, engaging and safe training environment. We pay attention to age appropriate development and foundational movements to prevent injury and increase mobility. Our programs work at a neuromuscular level, re-teaching for some how to move so that their quality of life is not only improved but maximized.
Arete Athletics training programs are modeled after the IYCA (International Youth and Conditioning Association) development philosophy. We take it a step further and Functional Movement Screen (FMS) all of our athletes to gain more insight on the athlete's current movement patterns.

I have been training with certified trainers for over 20 years, the past 9 of them with Myles. While all of my trainers have been quite good, Myles is head-and-shoulders above all of them. When we first met, I told him that I wanted to do rigorous workouts with an emphasis on core body conditioning.
You know you need to eat "real food". BUT what should you eat, how should you prepare the food and how much of it should you consume? There are a lot of questions and without the guidance of a nutrition coach you may be too overwhelmed or scared to start on your own. All I need from you is the motivation to change and a willingness to try new things.
This is for those people who just need a little push in the right direction. We will spend 60 minutes discussing your goals (that you sent to me ahead of time) and deciding what steps you should take to start your transformation. One check in call 2-4 weeks after an initial meeting to answer questions and address any new concerns.

I moved to the suburbs after living 20+ years in Philly. It was hard finding a good gym/group fitness that wasn't CrossFit. I met with Sean, we did a 1on1 training session, intro. I knew this was the right fit for me. I didn't feel rushed, I didn't feel pressured to sign up, he listened to me, he explained the philosophy of the gym. Have you ever had a conversation with someone and knew "he (they) gets it"? So, I joined. This is what gyms should be like.

I have only been a few times but every work out was great- I have trained with Sean, Chris, Adam, and Jenna and they all seem very professional and knowledgeable. I personally like the no frills aspect of this place - Just straight - to the point! Get it in and get it done- learn something while you are at it! I have tried many places in my time - from $10 a month planet fitness where you are really on your own to $150+ a month lifetime Fitness where I felt was a social club more than fitness and overwhelmed by the options. I find that I like somewhere in the middle

Sean and Adam took the time to introduce themselves, learn about me and most importantly asked about my fitness journey and how they can help me achieve my goals.
More importantly all the members have been very welcoming, which is a foundation that I'm positive Adam and Sean have created based on my interactions with them.

I am a 63 year old woman who has never been physically active and was never motivated to exercise consistently on my own. Because of health reasons, I knew I had to start some kind of strength training, but I also knew it would involve joining a gym because of my lack of motivation. In the past I had tried large gyms but never really felt comfortable in an environment with so many machines, so many people and very little personalized attention. I went online and found Arete Athletics, and decided to check it out. One of the best decisions I ever made! The owners, Sean and Adam, were very welcoming

I’ve been going to many different gyms over the past 30 years and let’s just say I’m a gym rat! I tried Arete Athletics for the first time and was blown away! The gym is so clean and welcoming and the trainers and instructors are so inspirational and fun, very knowledgeable and they want to make your workout fun! I went in to the class thinking I could handle it with ease, but instead, I came crawling out on my knees! Great gym for all ages and all levels!!! I believe their number one goal is to have people come back and for these clients to enjoy working out as much as the trainers enjoy

I was super nervous to start going to fitness classes but from day one the Arete crew made me feel so welcome!! The workouts are the best kind of difficult and the coaches are always there for help when you need it. The workouts are all customizable so no matter your level of athleticism you’ll get an incredible workout In. All in all, the coaches are incredible , the workouts are fantastic and the atmosphere they create everyday is amazing. I literally could not recommend this gym more !!

I'm an avid gym goer, and was visiting from out of town looking for somewhere to work out while I was away. I stumbled across Arete and was not disappointed! From the moment I walked in the door, Adam and Sean were wonderful! I liked the strength class so much that I came back and brought my husband to try it. We will definitely be back whenever we are in town! Adam is detailed and thorough explaining the exercises before the circuit, and helps each client with form along the way. Thanks again Adam and Sean for such a great experience!
