Since 1999, Gulfcoast Eye Center has served as a dedicated and caring provider of quality vision services to Sarasota and the surrounding communities. Primary Eye Care includes a comprehensive vision and eye health examination. This examination is designed to detect a wide range of problems affecting visual function, such as blurred vision or eye discomfort. Evaluations for eye health disorders are also performed. The American Optometric Association recommends that all people should have a periodic, comprehensive eye examination every one to two years depending on one's particular needs.
Understanding MGD: When experiencing burning, scratching, and redness the root of the problem is most likely MGD. MGD occurs when the function and/or structure of the glands become compromised, the meibomian glands are located in the eyelids and help with the production of the oily layer of our tears.
Optometry Giving Sight is helping millions of people in developing countries who are blind or vision impaired simply because they can't access an eye exam and glasses. Optometry Giving Sight was established in 2003 to address the needs of the 300 million men, women and children around the world who are blind or vision impaired simply because they don't have access to an eye exam and a pair of glasses.
Our office offers the, the first objective and quantitative test for diagnosing and managing Dry Eye patients. The TearLab Osmolarity System provides a quick and simple method for determining tear osmolarity using nanoliter (nL) volumes of tear fluid collected directly from the eyelid margin. The osmolarity data allows patients to understand their level of disease and track treatment success.

Dr. Steven Bovio Is great at what he does, very professional, most Doctors Work towards what is okay eyesight. Dr. Bovio will work with you to insure that your eye sight is the best that is possible. His staff is friendly and efficient.

Most wonderful office staff I’ve ever seen. Everyone was smiling, helpful and knowledgeable. Dr Bovio answered ALL my questions very patiently and well. I’ve never purchased new glasses after an exam, but they had wonderful choices and great prices. The optician who helped me was fabulous! She helped figure out the best glasses for me. I’m very pleased and will definitely return!

What a great experience! The office is beautiful and very modern with some really high tech stuff! The staff was so welcoming and friendly as well as extremely knowledgeable. Maria was so sweet and did an excellent job of doing my pre exam. Dr Bovio is so nice and was very thorough and informative about my eye health. Grace, in the optical, helped me pick out a great new pair of Ray Ban glasses and an amazing pair of Costa sunglasses. The colors outside through those lenses are incredible ! I would definitely recommend Gulfcoast Eye Center to all my friends and family!
