Square 1682's name is a tip of the hat to Pennsylvania's founding father, William Penn, who created Rittenhouse Square and four other similar plazas in order to establish open space in the heart of the city. That's the kind of big-idea thinking we like to celebrate here.
Like Penn, Square 1682 has a vision for the future, which is why we employ sustainability measures throughout the restaurant, from the in-house herb garden, to the locally-sourced produce, to the energy conscious engineering of the building design. In recognition of the dietary needs of our 21st century clientele, we offer an array of vegetarian and gluten-free options on our menus.

It's restaurant week 2022 in Center City Philadelphia!! I tried Square 1682 first. I love the ambiance, real chill atmosphere with vibrant decor. The hostess was super cool and our waiter Adam was great. We ordered off the restaurant week menu which included an appetizer, entree and dessert at $40 p/p. Overall, the food was good (although I wasn't particularly in love with my dish, see photos) I wouldn't mind returning for round two.

Returned last night for dinner and the food + service still gets a 10/10!
The salmon was so good last time I ordered the same dish again. The seasoning is great and the potatoes w/caramelized leeks compliments the dish so well. An easy dish to devour! Plus it's not heavy whatsoever!
My friend ordered the stewed oxtails, which I will probably order next time. If you are starving, order this dish! Very heavy with big generous portions. We agreed that it needed more seasoning and that the dish wasn't bold enough. My friend kept adding hot sauce with every bite. After I tried her dish

Had a terrible experience with my order - when I first walked in and asked about their gluten-free options, was told they could make anything gluten-free and had gluten-free bread. When I ordered a sandwich, I was informed by the Manager that it has breaded eggplant, but they've run out of gluten-free bread and can offer me just the breaded eggplant and other condiments part of the meal - I refused as that wouldn't be gluten-free. They barely had any options for me to choose from, and on top of it, they forgot to bring out my truffle fries order, which just tasted like basic fries, had no truffle

I'm at a loss for words right now. I recently moved to Philly and unfortunately have been a bit disappointed by the sheer lack of FLAVOR in food at times. I now have to look no further than Square 1682. From the steaming buttery cornbread, duck wing appetizers, short rib entree, and the decadent desserts - I am shouting to the rooftops that this is the place you need to be. Excuse me if I seem dramatic but I've literally considered walking around with my own condiments...

We came in during Restaurant Week and decided not to even order off that menu. While service was slow sometimes and they weren't quick to pick up empty plates/bottles from the table, overall they did a nice job.
Here's the recap on what we ordered -
Corn bread - little too "fluffy" for my taste (felt like I should have been denser), but overall good flavor. Great with the honey butter.
Caesar salad - fine. As expected.
Duck wings - AWESOME. While they look a little anemic compared to chicken wings, they had amazing flavor (they were in this amazing sweet and spicy sauce

Last night we enjoyed a delicious dinner at Square 1682. Felt compelled to write and express our appreciation for the wonderful staff. From the moment we arrived they went above and beyond to accommodate one of our party who has special health needs and required several accommodations. They moved tables, shifted the floor plan and did all they could to insure we felt comfortable and safe.
Food was delicious-everyone raved about their dinner. Too many wonderful dishes to single any one out. Special shout out to our waiter Adam who was pleasant, helpful and a great sport. He tolerated some of our

This is a nice restaurant with a varied menu, delicious drinks, and great appetizers. Our waitress was extremely friendly, kind, and helpful. For an appetizer, absolutely get the whipped burrata or the duck wings. Both were incredibly flavorful, well-cooked, and filling. We chose the chef's special (appetizer, entree, and dessert for $35) and went with the surf n turf. The lobster was rich and the filet was filling and tasty (I couldn't finish the last few bites) but a bit salty and slightly overcooked. Our service was incredible but it did slow towards the end of the night and we waited

We hung out here for drinks and snacks with friends tonight.
It's a comfortable place with great service. No complaints whatsoever in that regard.
The food we sampled was decent. Our friends enjoyed the fries and burriata. My wife and I split some chocolate bread pudding which I'd call pretty good but not spectacular. It was a little on the small side and slightly chewy for my taste.
Nothing wrong with the drinks though.

Overall a disappointing experience. Came for restaurant week.
Pros:
- The bar/restaurant looks pretty modern and swanky though the decor doesn't make it stand out much compared to more modern looking restaurants.
- the waitress was nice. I think she spoke too softly to be understood underneath the mask.
Cons:
- the food is generally unsatisfying. We had the waffle fries, tomato bisque, wagyu burger, french onion grilled cheese, peach cobbler and black cherry cabernet sorbet. None of them stood out to me as a positive. The waffle fries were simply fries, the burger was overdone, the french

This is a very beautiful restaurant right in center City Philadelphia. The brunch menu is very nice and offers a perfect break from a long walk through the city. Avocado toasts, soups and a variety of salads and other dishes are simple yet very tasty. The service is quick and personal is kind. A great thing I noticed is that you can alter your dish in many ways if part of the receipt don't fit your liking. 10/10 would recommend to any tourist and also for locals.

I've been twice and both times with large groups. This restaurant does a wonderful job of accommodating these large groups and providing us with friendly service alongside great food and drinks. As you can see, the food presentation is excellent and the food itself tastes delicious. One fun tip, go to the bathroom and explore the attached hotel a little bit, lots of cool art!

Went to the Square for a couple of drinks and some apps and it was so worth it. I had the purple drink from their menu and it was fantastic. The bartender Christian Diaz was such a delight, and it was amazing seeing him in his craft. The shrimp app was so amazing, and the waffle fries, I dream about them lol.
Run don't walk and have the Shrimp and Fries and any drink because I'm sure they are all great. You'll thank me later.

Square 1682 was a fun place with good cocktails. The ambiance is nice and cozy. I ordered the purple rain drink off the menu and it was so pretty! It was good, a little tart but I liked it. We didn't order food but the menu looked good. The services was great and you can tell the bartenders take pride in their cocktails. Would definitely come back for a fun drink!

Ultimately, Square 1682 rates in a standard "hotel restaurant" quality for us. As with the Kimpton hotel it's located within, the service was excellent. We popped in later in the evening looking for snacks, and we had our dog, so we needed to sit outside. The staff didn't complain one bit about us being the only table outside that would need a server. In fact, everyone we encountered was over-the-top pleasant! They even brought our dog a bowl of water and a little plate full of treats! So, as far as service goes, Square 1982 gets 5 stars in my opinion.
