Dr. Anacleto "Nick" Gutierrez, O.D, M.P.H., graduate of U.C. Berkeley School of Optometry also holds a degree in Public Health from U.C. Berkeley School of Public Health. Dr. Gutierrez, began his career on campus as a faculty member of the U.C. Berkeley School of Optometry. He was a he was a founder of "La Clinica", a non-profit clinic in Oakland.
He brought his knowledge back to his hometown of Sacramento to develop manuals and protocols for the State of California as a Statewide Optometric Consultant. Dr. Gutierrez also was one of the first Board Chairman for Health For All, a local health clinic for low income individuals. Dr. Gutierrez is accomplished in refraction and helping set the best possible prescription for glasses and contact lenses.

Dr. Gutierrez, optometrist, provides the finest equipment to perform comprehensive eye examinations with the latest technology, intended for all age groups. Contact lens & Contact lens fittings such as colored contacts, bifocal, soft and gas permeable lenses, disposable (daily/monthly). We accept Cash, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Personal Checks, Debit Card, American Express, Master Card, Visa, FSA & HSA credit cards.
Eye examinations are necessary to maintain healthy eyes to aid vision for current times and to avoid future deterioration. During CO-VID19 our office is doing its best to limit waiting, but with new implementations in practice, timing is a bit slower as we aim to provide a sterile, healthy and safe facility to practice in.
For over thirty years Dr. Gutierrez has been involved with donating his time and resources through partnering with organizations such as Lion's Club International and the California Vision Project. He volunteers his time at health fairs for those who are unable to afford health services, in addition to pro-bono exams when recommended by schools and churches.
Our midtown Optometry office is located on Capitol Avenue between 26th and 27th st. We offer free parking + one ADA space through Liestal Alley accessed between 26th or 27th st. We also have an ADA entrance through the back door accessed through the parking lot. Street parking is available; Metered Parking (quarters/cards accepted) or use the convenient app ParkMobile'.

I had the best experience ever. From the friendly staff, to meeting Dr. Gutierrez, and Marisa.....the office was warming, and very pleasant. After my exam I was assisted by Marisa and we picked out frames from a very impressive selection...prior to my exam, my 12year old daughter also had a great experience while getting fitted for her contacts....all in all. I would give this practice the highest rating and recommend to anyone.

I have been a patient of Dr Nick for over 30 years. His eye care is terrific but what sets him apart is his personal touch; and that of his staff. Best example is a recent emergency retina issue that I encountered. Not only did he arrange to have me rushed to a specialist but he followed up with calls over the days following my surgery. He is a special person and great doctor.

I have been in to see Dr. Gutierrez a total of three times. The first time I had a problem with one of my eyes so I went in to see him, then I had a regular annual visit. It had been over a year since my last visit, and when he walked into my room, he acted as if I was in his office regularly. He seemed to have remembered little things about me that my general practitioner whom I have seen regularly for years still can’t seem to remember. He makes me feel comfortable and welcome. I broke my glasses in an unfortunate face plant incident.😞🏃🏻♀️ Marissa did everything she could (including squeezing in an eye exam after hours) to put me in new glasses as quickly as possible. She even made a spare with my existing lens and an inexpensive frame to use until the new ones are ready. Thanks to all the staff that stayed late that night, including Dr. Gutierrez, to ensure that I had glasses with the most up-to-date prescription!

I was beyond impressed with the level of service I received at Dr. Gutierrez's office. There was a slight scheduling hiccup to start but the accommodating front desk staff quickly worked everything out and I was in-and-out in 45 minutes! Dr. Moos provided exceptional service.
