FIVE STAR rated! by past clients on Angies List, Yahoo, Google and the highest rated home inspector in Oregon by Yelp users. Choosing the right Home Inspector can be almost as important as choosing the right home. Why? Because most homes have defects that you may not know about or have the technical knowledge to detect.
A skilled home inspector with 17 years of inspection, home building and remodeling experience needed to look for visual signs of defects in your new home will. Problems not detected can cost you thousands of dollars in repair bills after you move in! A home inspection will help you make an informed decision during the purchase process.

Buying a home is often the largest investment you make, both financially and emotionally. I believe the decision to make that investment should be based on solid, factual information provided by a certified Home Inspector (fha, va approved). I have over 17 years of home inspection, custom home building and remodeling experience.
Q: What does Oregon law require an owner to do with an underground heating oil tank in the yard? A: If the tank is no longer in use, the contents of the tank must be pumped out. Oregon law does not require property owners to decommission or test residential tanks for leaks. If the tank has leaked, or is suspected to be leaking, the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) must be notified.
Thank you for allowing Pacific NW Home Inspections be a part of your real estate transaction. We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you. This inspection conforms to the Standards of Practice of the State of Oregon and is a visual inspection of the readily accessible areas and components of the home at the time of the inspection.
Tom did an incredible job inspecting the home we were hoping to buy. He let me follow him all over the place and answered all of my questions kindly and thoroughly. He also gave me his real opinion on the home which meant a lot to me, and resulted in me not buying it. It's very apparent that he seriously knows his stuff.
One of the most costly repairs that your home may ever require is the repair or replacement of your sewer line. Damage to or blockage of your home's sewer line can cause flooding of your home or possibly sinkholes on and around your property. That is precisely why most municipal wastewater management divisions recommend that all homes have their sewer pipes inspected (sewer scope).

Tom Island of Pacific NW Home Inspections did work for us on a large and expensive house originally constructed in 1928 with a sequential series of updates and remodels. He did a thorough inspection on short notice and now I have an excellent maintenance roadmap for the house.

Tom Island performed the home inspection for me last week. Thorough, professional, thoughtful, Tom answered all my questions. His report was really easy for me to understand. I shared it with a family friend who is an architect and has seen many home inspection reports. The friend said this was the most thorough report he'd ever seen.

Tom was great. The tenant living in the house we're buying didn't know it was inspection day, so was understandably agitated when we arrived. Tom was able to smooth out the situation, and perform a thorough inspection. Once his mission was complete, he hung out outside with us to go over what would be in the report, and answer any and all questions. 100% will use PNWHI for future inspections.

Tom was very knowledgeable and thorough. He gave us a good idea of problems and issues starting from the most time-sensitive and important on down to the mundane but still notable.
He was a very clear communicator and brought his years of experience to bear. We finished our inspection having a very good idea of our next steps, invaluable for our home-buying process. Thanks Tom!

We had the best experience working with Tom on the inspection of a home we were in the process of buying. First, he was able to find time for us immediately, which was beyond helpful to us. Additionally, he met us at the property and aside from being extremely kind, he asked us many questions we would have never thought of and proceeded to conduct an inspection that was very detailed and easy to understand. Thanks to him, we were able to make a very well informed decision on whether or not to purchase the home. We ultimately did not, due to him discovering things that I don't believe most inspectors

Tom was very easy to work with. He responded promptly to my request for a quote. We were able to quickly set up an inspection time. Tom was very thorough and professional. It was clear that he has a wealth of experience to draw on - he has seen it all. At the end of the inspection, he walked me around the house showing me what he found, and what the impact of the issues would be. His final report was posted within a few hours, and included pictures with clear descriptions of the findings. I would highly recommend Tom to others.

Tom is a man of knowledge, he knows homes and did a great job inspect a home. After purchasing other homes and doing similar inspections, Tom is skillful and is great at talking through the inspection. Very pleased with his work and I will be seeking his services in the future.

Tom is one of the best home inspectors I've ever worked with. His competency, thoroughness and passion for this work shows through - and you feel assured that you have all of the right information before making a decision to purchase (and plan out your improvements). Tom's skills were invaluable in looking at a rehabbed property that had improper plumbing and sewer work done - many of his inspection techniques go beyond what I've seen other inspectors do. When I finally did fine the right property, Tom's inspection (and enthusiasm!) reassured me I was making the right choice. I can't recommend
