Founded in 1997 in Iowa City, The G Spot is committed to helping our clients feel and look good. Responsibility toward the neighborhood and environment are part of the G Spot's mission. The G Spot's uses biodegradable styling products, whenever available, such as their color formulations, which are plant and vegetable-based.

Erin is amazing. She is very professional and amazing at everything she does! I’ve had her pretty much do it all on my hair. Cut, color, style for weddings, and most recently a keratin treatment. All are always amazing. I had never had the keratin treatment before and it’s been a game changer. My hair is so soft and smooth now and it still looks great and it’s been almost a month! I would highly recommend this treatment! Also her loft is so cute, welcoming and covid clean!! Overall I highly recommend Erin for all of your hair needs!

Erin is amazing. I have been a client for almost 3 years now, visiting every 2-3 months for synthetic dread installations. I have very short, thin hair naturally and have always struggled with my confidence because of it. She has never failed to leave me feeling 100% satisfied and completely rejuvenated in that department. She even worked closely with me to match a lilac/grey blonde and NAILED it! I can not recommend Erin enough. I love the amount of time she spent with me prior to getting dreadlocks. I appreciate the time and advice she spends at my appointments. She's so quick crocheting my dreads during maintenance. Her customer service is amazing, she has became a friend- i look forward to meeting with her. I loved the work so much I've referred friends and family to her. I live two hours away & when i'm out in Indiana, I see people with dreads always hear they go to Erin. I have been seeing Erin for a few years now to get color, and every time I come in, I leave so satisfied and happy with my hair! She makes the best suggestions, works with me, and explains the reasoning behind choosing one color or another and what each will do for my entire complexion, not just my hair. I always come in wanting something subtle, and still uniquely me, and that is what I get. Plus, she is so friendly and nice, so I always enjoy my time while I am there.

This salon is typically known for dreads and hair extensions - but I want everyone to know that Erin is absolutely phenomenal for more "traditional" hair as well! Best experiences of my life in this places! My dreads look amazing. I waited 6 years to finally get them, waiting for someone I trusted to help me care for them. Then, I found Erin and all dreams came true. Worth every penny! She's also always available via email when I have questions or want advice on how to care for my locks. G Spot is fantastic! I was getting my dreadlock maintenance done there when I had them (just recently decided to remove them) and Erin was the best! I hope to keep finding reasons to come into the city to visit her salon. It seems like this is the place to go for anything unconventional that a lot of salons simply won't tackle.

Growing out a pixie cut sucks. I never thought I could afford extensions to even my hair length but decided to stop in and ended up scheduling a free consult! Erin was awesome and took the time to listen to what I wanted. She was able to accommodate my budget and the thinner parts of my re growing hair due to past struggles with trichotillomania and really knows what she's talking about. Awesome service and follow-up (text/email reminders) and I've never felt more confident about my hair!

Let me first say that I'm not a girl with dreadlocks or extensions (love them, just not on me with a semi-corporate job). I say that because from the reviews it looks like it's a popular spot for non-traditional styles. I'm here to say it's great for the more traditional styles too!

I have to start this review by saying that this was not my first attempt at dreads. I have tried probably every method out there and also went to other salons in order to achieve my dreaded dream. It has been a complete nightmare until I found G spot and met Erin and Alyse. These 2 ladies are AMAZING and EXTREMELY knowledgeable when it comes to dreadlocks. I finally have my beautiful locs and couldn't be happier. Since I had such bad experiences in the past I had the worst anxiety about my appointment today and Erin made me feel comfortable and confident that I was in great hands. Do yourself

I probably spent a good 6 months searching for a hair stylist to cut my 4-year old Sisterlocks (hundreds of small dreadlocks for those unfamiliar with them). After searching online, I came across G Spot Hair Design. I made an appointment with Erin through email, which was very easy to do. Erin took the time to talk to me about caring for my hair and was very confident in cutting it. I felt at ease the entire time (I was really nervous to cut so much of my hair!). The end product was great, the price was reasonable, and I'll definitely be back at a later time, possibly for some color.

I can't wait to go see Alyse again next Friday and get my hair done! I have been getting my hair done by Alyse for years and I have not found anyone that can give me a better hair cut and color (short, long, layers, I have done it all). I even had extensions for a brief period of time and I always leave the salon a happy customer.
Even after my move to San Francisco I still make sure I go see Alyse any time I am in Chicago! I highly recommend G Spot Hair Design!

I was considering having my natural dreads extended & had a free half hour consultation with Erin to talk about all the options. She explained everything very well & was very clear about prices. She didn't try to push me into deciding one way or another, which I really appreciate.
