We opened our first restaurant in 1997 with a dream of bringing the most authentic Mexican food to Boise and becoming one of the best Mexican restaurants in the Treasure Valley. Thanks to our patrons and the dedication of our family, that dream became a reality. We expanded and have become known as one of the best taco places in Boise!
We now have restaurants in downtown Boise, Meridian, and Garden City. Family owned and operated, we pride ourselves on our quality food and customer service. If you want catering for your wedding, birthday party, quinceanera, or sporting event, we can bring the flavors of Mexico right to you!

We chose the name "El Gallo Giro" for its authenticity. El Gallo Giro was a white feathered rooster, which, according to legend, won many cock fights in Mexico a long time ago. He became very famous and few roosters could conquer him. Many years later, our goal is the same. We strive to be the most authentic Mexican restaurant serving the best Mexican food in the Boise area.

Ordered thru DoorDash. Stuck in styrofoam, which besides being unhealthy for humans & the enviro- u can't reheat in it. Salsa did not have much flavor but nice texture. It was a nice touch that they gave a small bag of tortilla chips on the to go order, as was the fresh lettuce. The shredded chicken was generously proportioned, but unfortunately basically flavorless too. So I wouldn't recommend their nachos, but I would try them again for another type of dish.

Two stars because we are full and the salsas and guac were decent! We just moved to Boise from San Diego where we get amazing Mexican food weekly. This meal was a disappointment overall, which we expected based on what we've heard about Idaho Mexican food. We were recommended this by a family member in the area. I'm really shocked at the good reviews... either the 5 stars hit this place on an amazing day or people just don't know what good tacos taste like. Overall I would just say things were bland. And the nachos were mush by the time they got to us, and we've never had that

Their street tacos are awesome and the wait staff makes dinner fun. We also made an order for pickup-- they do family dinners!!-- and margaritas to go, to feed a bunch of people who were staying at our house-- the food was made so quickly and packaged really well and our guests raaaaved about the margaritas. 5 Stars.

Happy hour margaritas are groovy, but dont get the chorizo quesadilla. It was seriously all grease and I couldnt eat it. The Cheese quesadilla was much better, still just cheese and a tortilla. There is much better food on the menu so keep reading it. I had the avacado seafood appetizer the previous time I was here and it was okay too, perfect for a light lunch.

A friend suggested going here after being at the quilt show at the Expo Center all day. I asked if it was Americanized or the real thing since I'd lived in AZ for 30 years and love real Mexican food.
Believe me, it's real. Salsa, fried beans and chips served while you're figuring out what to eat. I asked for a spicier salsa and they had it. I had pollo en mole- oh my, so. Dry good. I'd never had it where they sliced the meat in pieces instead of chicken pieces, but it was still really good. Then, we had churros afterwards that are served with whipped cream and chocolate

Disclaimer....this is a take out taco only review.
Some of the best tacos in Boise....best street tacos I have had here so far by a long shot. Delve into this taco bliss...this world of taco awesomeness that can only be explored with a bottomless appetite for rolled tacos and three meat options...pastor, carnitas, and asada. The salsa perfectly complimenting the simplistic yet delicious savory meats and juice ridden corn tortillas top off this perfect street food.
And they take catering orders...yes...we ordered 250 tacos and they made it happen same day. All delicious, all ours.....all gone

Food is decent. Customer service is good.
My coworkers and I usually dine here in Tuesday's for their Taco Tuesday buffet. It's All-You-Can-Eat tacos for $9.49 with tax.
The buffet consists of corn tortillas or hard shells, beans, rice, al pastor, carne asada, carnitas, and chicken. At the end of the buffet are the addings: cilantro, onion, cheese, salsa, and chips
I have yet to try anything on the actual menu.

I've previously been to El Gallo Giro on a couple of occasions as it's less than a mile from my home. Each visit has brought great food & memorable service. One visit led the manager to offer me 1 million tacos if I signed with his city league basketball team.
Tonight's visit was no exception. It was my first trip here for their famed Taco Tuesday(that I've been hearing about for the last 18 months. 5 different meats, multiple shells & all the fixings in a self serve format let me do some serious work on my waistline. After tonight, they may just have to change the

My parents and I stopped in after visiting the western Idaho fairgrounds. We each got two fish tacos, my parents got a beer each, and they give you chips/salsa/beans for the table.
The fish tacos were a bit hard to eat at first, but they were both delicious and surprisingly filling. You do have to pay for the chips and such if your bill isn't enough, but it's only a buck, well worth it.
The atmosphere was comfortable, very beautifully decorated for day of the dead and even had signs explaining everything.
Parking is easy but traffic can be a beast on the main road if something is

Food is good. Waitstaff is lacking, but they probably won't last long working here, since they are more concerned with their iPhones than they are with their tables.
One unkept bearded waiter looked like he just crawled out of bed. He was near the back running his hand through is nasty looking hair.
So five stars for the food, and I hope they get some actual waitstaff.

Do you only have $5 for lunch?
Do you want good Taco Truck tacos?
Is it over 100 degrees outside, and you don't want to sit outside a Taco Truck?
Do you want to witness an amazing display of the "Waiter remembers everyone's order without writing anything down" phenomena?
If you answered "yes" to any of the above questions, El Gallo Giro is the place to go.
You get tacos for $1.25 each, and depending upon your appetite, you can order as many as you desire. I have found four tacos to be good for me, but I have seen others order as few as two, and as many as six. Regardless
