Synaptic Cycles began as a Dana Point, CA based road bicycle rental company, specializing in road bicycle rentals for business and vacation travelers. We offer concierge service to our clients, delivering and picking up the bicycle from the client at their hotel or vacation rental. Originally, our primary area of service was Orange County and San Diego County.
After you submit you online reservation we will approve the rental and mark it as "please pay". Once paid in full your bike/s are reserved and delivery is scheduled. On the day of your scheduled delivery/pick up we'll send you a text or a call when en route with our ETA. At delivery we we ensure the bikes is set up correctly and make adjustments if needed.
An electric bike is the best way to explore Dana Point and the surrounding areas. Our stylish and comfortable pedal-assisted electric bikes take the best parts of riding a bike and extend them. Synaptic Cycles' Fat-Tire Beach Cruiser eBike - This fat-tire cruiser electric bike utilizes a 750W Bafang hub motor.
Synaptic Cycles offers one of the best road bike rental fleets in Southern California. We spend the time with you to make sure the bike fits you before you head down the road. We currently feature bicycles from Scott, Felt, BMC, and Focus. All bikes are equipped with Ultegra/Dura Ace components, Compact 50/34T or Mid-Compact 52/36T and 11/25 or 11/28 cassettes.
The San Juan Creek Trail is a beautiful and variety-packed cycling path in South Orange County. It passes through the gorgeous Mission Revival Style buildings of the city of San Juan Capistrano along with its lush parks, dog parks, and horse ranches. This trail feeds right into Doheny State Beach from where you have access to all of the other spots and activities that we are about to mention in this article.

During our trip from Chicago to California, we had planned to rent bicycles and take in the views. Our friend here in California suggested renting electric bikes.
But we knew nothing about them.
Shaun @ Synaptic Cycle , was a phenomenal help. He sized the bikes to each one of us. Upon finding one bike was a little too tall for my wife, he replaced the post and seat so it would be a little bit shorter.
The bikes had a lot of power for some of these hard hills. The controls were easy to use. And the trip was a success.
We've not only recommend Synaptic Cycle rental. . . We're coming back!

Synaptic cycles was great! We flew in from Kansas City for the Oceanside Ironman. It was a lot easier to rent our road bikes from here than to ship our own. The road bikes were high quality and in great condition. The shop added our personal seats and pedals for us to make sure we had the best fit possible. They were very kind, informative, and fast! If you need to rent high quality bikes, go to synaptic!

I can’t recommend this company enough. I traveled cross country to participate in the Newport dunes cal tri (for my first triathlon) and was really nervous with renting a bike and the logistics. Synaptic cycles made everything a breeze. They delivered me the bike to the race the day before, brought me multiple helmets to try on, and even brought me a lock at request for free. I had no idea what kind of bike or size I wanted so I gave them my weight and height and Aaron took the time to rent me out the nicest bike I’ve ever been on. We rented 2 electric bikes for an entire day last week and had an A+++ experience from start to finish. Super friendly and knowledgeable owner, the bikes were impeccably maintained and everything was explained until we felt comfortable going out and exploring. We rode almost the entire day (miles and miles of great trails/marked bike lanes) and had over half the battery left. Don't bother looking anywhere else - truly a company that takes pride in its product and customer service. Happy riding!

My three siblings and I participated in the Malibu Triathlon and Shawn was phenomenal. He helped us understand what bikes to use, hooked us up with amazing gear for the race and took the time to explain it to us before we raced. Shawn is very knowledgeable about everything and clearly passionate about biking! 20/10 would recommend for both beginners and experts alike

We had the best time and experience using Synaptic Cycles! My husband and I rented two bikes and rode all around Dana Point Harbor and then to San Juan Capistrano. The bikes are extremely high quality and high performance. The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. Shawn is the owner and was helping his clients, making sure each bike was a comfortable and customized fit. We made reservations in advance - highly recommend this. There were three other families who walked in while we were picking up our bikes. We’ll be back again.

I was back in town for a week and dying to ride some of my old routes, so I decided to rent a bike for the first time. I gave Synaptic Cycles a try, and I couldn't recommend them highly enough! Shawn was very easy to communicate with and the drop-off & pickup service was super convenient. The bike was high-quality and pretty reasonably priced for a week-long rental, and was set up as expected on delivery. Definitely planning on renting again next time I'm in the area!

Had a trip planned long ago then realized I needed a great bike for distance training while in O'Side. called up Shawn and he delivered beautiful Masi 61. Mint condition, we sized it in the driveway and even exchanged the stem for better size. Rode 120 mi in 2 days, flawless performance. I recommend for any SoCal serious biker who forgot their bike.

Fantastic service. Shawn is great. We talked on the phone and by email a number of times. Getting the rental arranged was easy. Great communication. On the day of the rental we arranged the time and place. He was prompt and dropped the bike off right at my hotel. He patiently waited and helped adjust the bike to fit and waited as I took a couple test rides. He even changed out the stem for me, putting on a 120mm so it would fit me better. Spent a weeks vacation in Carlsbad Village CA and wanted to ride - but not the hassle of transporting my bike. Synaptic Cycles fit the bill perfectly - simple process to rent a high-quality frame and groupset bike for the week with delivery included. Shawn confirmed things via email and then set up the bike to my specifications before dropping off right on time. Rental even had a small saddlebag with a tube, multitool, and CO2 cartridges - and left me a floor pump since I was renting for more than a couple of days. Great bike rental experience in OC!
Spent a week in OC and wanted to ride. Rented a nice light weight carbon road bike from Shawn. Delivery and pickup was painless and he had the bike fitted for my measurements before he dropped it off. Fair price and great service. I'll be a customer again for sure.

I rented a road bike from Synaptic Cycles last week in San Diego and could not have been happier with the experience. They dropped off and pick up the bike at my hotel. They had the bike set up perfectly for me and I did not have to make any adjustments. The bike itself was in excellent condition. Rented a bike from Synaptic for the first time this week. I've rented lots of bikes all over the country, but never before have I gotten a "fit sheet" to measure against my own bike - so Joe could have the rental perfectly sized. Next, Joe brought the bike to my hotel (and picked it up), and made sure it was just right. The bike itself was a sweet, light all-carbon special with Ultegra - very nice. He also came with every pedal I know of, just so I wouldn't have to bring my own. I really can't say enough about how convenient and easy Joe made it to rent. And to top it off

I called and talked with Joe about setting up a rental bike like my ride. He said "no problem". I sent Joe my fitting from the LBS before I arrived. Not only was the bike delivered to my hotel, but it was set up exactly like my bike. It felt perfect and allowed me to enjoy my rides without having to worry about changing the seat height or adjusting the handlebars. The bike was in excellent condition and shifted perfectly. The saddle bag contained all the required tools, tubes, and CO2. Joe was great and the customer service was above and beyond any I've received when renting
