At Derby Dental, we are fortunate to have two of the top female dentists in Austin TX, dedicated to providing optimal care for all of our patients. Born and raised in a small town in Kentucky, Dr. Erika Whitehouse grew up going to the same family dentist her whole life. When it came time to open her own practice, she wanted to bring that same small town family feel to the city of Austin TX.
While we do our best to help our patients with their insurance needs, we can only serve as a middleman. And as much as we'd like to be able to solve problems regarding procedures and coverage, dental insurance is a contract between you, your employer, and your insurance company. As a courtesy to our patients we try to be as helpful as possible to check eligibility and coverage.
Without dental coverage, most are discouraged from obtaining proper diagnostic, preventive, and restorative care. We know that understanding dental insurance is daunting, and we want to help our patients access a plan that allows everyone to afford quality dental care.

At Derby Dental, we do a thorough gum screening at each of your dental check-up visits and discuss any signs of an unhealthy mouth. We will make recommendations for Gum Disease Therapy, and work with you in getting this disease under control as soon as possible. One of the most effective means of preventing tooth decay is fluoride treatments and sealants.

This place is the full package: great dentists, hygienists, front office staff and technology. Dr. Kilkelly is awesome and so is Angel. Like a lot of folks, I have a modest level of anxiety with dental procedures, however I sincerely like coming to Derby Dental. They do great work and have a rapport with patients; billing/insurance admin is seamless. I cannot recommend them enough!

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Killkelly and her staff for some years now and just can’t say enough good things about them. They’re always professional and put me at ease. I’ve never had the feeling they were pushing unnecessary treatments as I know some dentists will do. They always make the experience as relaxing as possible and are constantly concerned about my health and any discomfort.

I was greeted by the friendly office manager and escorted to the procedure area before my seat in the waiting room had a chance to get warm. Alex the dental hygienist is also friendly and helps you feel at ease by discussing what the work to be done is about and encourages asking questions. I can't say enough positive comments about the care I received from Alex and Dr. Kilkelly. Both are concerned about patient comfort. Absolutely worth my trip into the city.

The Derby Care project feels like a scam. I became a member in late 2019 and have paid into the program every month since, even during the pandemic- when I was quarantining and wasn't leaving my house. I had one cleaning that year, and that was it. I am now vaccinated & out of the state caring for a loved one who is terminally ill and I cannot use the services because of course it doesn't transfer to any other dental office. I have essentially lost out on $370 for nothing.

After my dentist retired in 2018, I was contacted by a dental group that acquired his practice but they were an absolute horror story. At the end of the year, I had a terrific toothache and was having difficulties finding a good dentist with a good reputation until a friend recommended Derby Dental. I think, apart from the inefficient office staff, Dr. Whitehouse is a very competent and personable dentist. She was very apologetic about the problems I've had getting in for a CLEANING! I've had problems in the past with this dental office booking appointments. When I came in today for a much needed cleaning (admittedly my fault, not theirs) I was told I was booked only for X-rays and a check up. They worked on replacing a molar after a root canal (before their time) since the crack was way far down...my insurance has always been pretty crappy, so wasn't surprised by the cost. They are continuing to work on my smile per my request and all going well! There were a few blips out of the offices control (their highly skilled artificial tooth maker-for lack of a better more technical term-was nearing having twins therefore a delay); but they are working hard to meet individual needs, when I walk in they act like they know me (wow), and are upbeat & energetic. This place is awesome! The staff is really nice and upbeat. The office is upscale and has a pleasant atmosphere. They also have a great process of offering and explaining the procedures so it's easy to choose and understand them. I had my teeth cleaned as well as a chipped tooth repaired in an hour and a half. My wait time was 2 minutes, literally. My teeth/gums feel and look so much better.
