Chan's Chinese Restaurant
At Bend Chan's, our patrons enjoy the finest Beijing, Szechuan, Hunan, Mongolian, Shanghai, and Cantonese cuisine with warm, welcoming hospitality. We offer a variety of affordable, delicious dishes with generous portions. Based on a palette of warm, high desert colors and textures, our modern eco-friendly interior creates a comfortable, elegant, and intimate atmosphere which contributes to the overall dining experience.

Only the freshest ingredients are used in the making of our food, and we do not add MSG to our dishes. Chan's Chinese Restaurant first opened in May of 1986 in the same location it is today. It shared a building with the China Ranch Lounge. It was truly a family-owned restaurant, with the only employees being Lap Chan himself, his wife, his parents, his brother, and his two sisters.

I've been eating at Chan's almost exclusively since I moved here 15 years ago when I'm wanting Chinese food.
It literally pains me to give this place two stars because the food here is actually excellent however my recent experience there is so absurd that it has me looking for a new Chinese food go to.
I called in to place an order to be picked up by a friend that was coming over. One of the items I asked for was the calamari. We both happen to love the calamari when it's dipped in the hot mustard sauce so I asked for an extra mustard dipping sauce.
I was told it would

Such good food! The portions are enormous. My husband and I didn't need an entree, we could have had the lettuce wraps appetizer for dinner by itself. Everything tasted great. We also had spring rolls and mushu chicken. Our entire party walked out with enough food for the next few days. Wonderful service with a smile. When I return to Bend I will definitely go back.

Classic variety Asian food. Bend local favorite for a long time. Nice small bar and back room for large families or big meetings. Service is always worth a tip. Clay pot noodles are my favorite.

Standard menu and pricing. I was not happy with the food. This is the first orange chicken I've ever had that tasted like it was not seasoned... no orange flavor at all (no, I didn't have COVID). Some of the other sauces were tasty but the food was bland if you didn't add the sauces to them. I won't be returning. Maybe I'm just picky, because the place is always busy. ‍

Good solid old school American style Chinese food. Servers were very good. Ordered the common combo dinner #4 with a bbq pork appetizer. Huge portions, easily enough for 2 meals for me. Came with choice of egg flower or hot and sour soup. Ended with fortune cookie. Taste was average, but I'd definitely go back.

The quintessential American-Chinese restaurant. All the mainstream hits you expect. For deep fried saucy goodness I recommend the mother's chicken.

The best Chinese I've had since moving away from Chicago. The heat on the Mongolian Beef is perfect - a slow, simmering spice that tastes like it was marinated for a full day. The fried rice has excellent depth of flavor as well, and the orange chicken uses actual orange peel. Really excellent, with very large portions. And generous with the protein! Delicious.

Very disappointed with the food. The service was good and the restaurant was clean. I'm sorry to say we were shocked how bad the food was. We ordered pan fried noodles and friend rice. The noodles were soggy and the over plate had no flavor. Lots of pieces of carrots cut nicely to look good but tasted horrible. We asked for hot tea twice and it never came. Big let down coming here.

I'm a big Chinese Food Snob guy, worked in the best one for along time. This one had really superb food, the only thing I didn't like was the tiny rice, I like my rice cooked to plumpness! Besides that it was great!

My family has been going to Chan’s since the early 90’s. We moved away in 2001 and I’ve been back twice before today. I’ve always compared everywhere else to Chan’s but worried that I had just hyped it up in my brain. I ordered over the phone without a menu handy and thought the order seemed kind of pricey. When we picked up the order, I realized we got a bargain. The boxes we got were HUGE and overflowing. Thank goodness our hotel has a fridge because we are going to have tons of leftovers! The boxes literally couldn’t close because they were so packed with food. I would split the

My mom and I had a great dinner, eating in. The food was good, arrived soon after ordering and our server was super friendly. We also had leftovers for days and were impressed how affordable our meal was. We'll be back.

This place was really good about a year ago. Not amazing or anything, but better than most Chinese American takeout in town.
Today some of the chicken pieces in my chicken fried rice were raw. Never tasted raw chicken before today, but boy is it something you notice right away. Really gross. Hoping I will not be vomiting soon. Don't need salmonella during this covid crisis.
On the other hand my husband said his pot stickers were delicious so maybe the rice was just a fluke. Giving three stars right now but I will take it down to one star if either of us gets sick.

This is the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Fried rice with no soy sauce, or flavor and a supposedly fried general chicken missing the fried part ans the general sauce part. Its just a sour cornstarch water. It has hunks of obviously frozen bagged carrot. Ans thats it. I cant believe I ever though if giving them a second chance. My $90 regret.

Also way to expensive! Twice the price of other places.

I was driving a long, long way and suddenly felt like I could use a break. So I opened up Yelp and found Chan's Chinese Restaurant just off Highway 97 in Bend, Oregon.

Operationally - they have plenty of parking out front and follow strict Covid-19 safety procedures from the front door to the tables and throughout the restaurant.

Menu-wise there are a ton of choices that are clearly explained for American customers who may not be too familiar with the various regional types of food they offer - Sichuanese, Hunanese, Cantonese, Beijing-ese, and so on.

I ordered "Salt & Pepper Fish

Food is great. The hot and sour soup is very good though I'd almost call it hot, sweet, and sour as it's got more sweetness (and maybe a touch more hotness) than I'm used to in the San Francisco area. The potsickers were great. The Cantonese chicken and green beans was superb. I love the structure of the menu -- a few different ways of preparing things x a few different proteins (or lead vegetables). Very simple and clear and avoids the "I love the black beans sauce but didn't want chicken" problem that sometimes happens at Chinese restaurants.

Chan's Chinese is nice Chinese. You can sit inside. Looks clean. Fast service.

You might pay more here than a "junk" Chinese restaurant because you're paying for quality of food and ambiance.

Very much enjoyed this place. Seating is inside and set for social distancing. We were unsure what we' were wanting to order. We chose "Chef Special" at $14.95 per person. They asked a few questions of our dislikes and allergies and the chef chose our menu. It was amazing and A-Tom of food. We ate it for 3 different meals and there was 4 of us.

I hate to give bad reviews but the food tonight was just not very good. The best dish was the broccoli beef. Pot stickers? Kinda mushy. Pork fried rice? So-so.

Sweet and sour pork? Well, a huge tub of cold, fried pork with a side of sweet sauce. Huh? Weird. Where are the veggies? The pineapple? Anything?

Won't be coming here again.

I've wanted to try this place for a while, after noticing it was fairly busy a few different nights as I drove by. When a co-worker (who had also never tried it) wanted to get it for lunch, 4 of us took off to try it out.

Although the pace looks a little dated on the outside, the inside looks like it has been through a renovation more recently. The space inside was nicely decorated, spacious, and definitely surpassed my expectations! We were seated quickly and our server was at the table before we knew it to deliver waters for the table. In addition to the atmosphere inside, I was surprised
