I have practiced as a community developer for the past 40 years exclusively in the State Street area of New Haven where we have restored many historic buildings. I work with my wife [Susan] and only for us. We both give freely of our services to the community because building does not only involve design, function and physical restoration of buildings; it also involves creating neighborhoods and good relations among neighbors.
When working with historic buildings, the building itself becomes the guide for rebuilding and reuse. Many of our buildings are historically designated. Since we own and manage 100 apartments and five store/office fronts, we seek ways to build the community and participate in creating the State Street Farmers Market recently.

Rented here for a year and we absolutely loved our time. The Frews were kind, responsive, and totally just normal people. They always accommodated us and, during COVID, demonstrated a thoughtfulness that none of our prior landlords had. We're sad to leave our lovely apartment!

I was in New Haven on a year long sabbatical and Frew Management was able to accommodate all my rental needs: studio, WD in unit, AC, and East Rock. The apartment building and apartment was well maintained and well managed.
During this time, they were responsive to all my email questions (which I had many since I had not rented an apartment in years) and maintenance requests (which were few) and even watered my plants when I was kept out of town due to COVID-19. I honestly have no idea where all the negative reviews are coming from. Everyone I dealt with were respectful and professional.

I have been renting for twelve years and these are hands down the best landlords I've had. Kind, flexible, supportive, fast communication, and the house I was in was kept in very good shape. They were responsive to our repair needs and always responded quickly to communication, and it felt like renting from a caring individual rather than a large company.
When covid-19 hit, they emailed us all saying "If you become infected with Covid 19 virus, please let us know if you need anything, and we have a freezer full of soup we can deliver to you if you are homebound with sickness." I've never had landlords

The people at Frew Management are super-responsive, kind, and personable. In the two years I've lived in one of their buildings, I've gotten to know several members of the Frew family and staff and they are all lovely and live locally. During the pandemic when I left to another state, they went to my apartment to water my plants for free. When I came back, I noticed a sign from them offering to bring people food if they got sick. Whenever I have a maintenance request, someone immediately gets it done. I've never had a better or more understanding landlord.

Just wanted to add my voice to the chorus of positive reviews. This is my fifth year of renting from the Frews, and it's been a wonderful experience. I'm a long-time New Havener (first as a grad student, now as a professional) and have dealt with several management companies in town. The Frews have been the best, hands-down. There have been no surprise rent increases, all my maintenance needs have been handled promptly and cheerfully, and they make sure the common areas of our building are kept clean and safe. If something goes wrong with an appliance in your apartment you have to pay out of pocket to fix or replace it. These are cheap appliances to begin with. Don't expect your security deposit back, they look for any scratch, even piece of dirt (as you have to deep clean your apartment before leaving) and use that against you to keep your money. Simply horrible.

The folks at Frew Management LLC were my first landlords out of college, and set the bar quite high for my next property owners and managers.
During my yearlong stay at their property in the East Rock neighborhood of New Haven, CT, they promptly tended to all of my indoor and outdoor requests, replaced missing furniture parts, reimbursed me the money I spent to paint a new room upon moving in, unclogged drains, and tended to cracks in the bathroom caulking.
