McCrossen's Tavern is ideally situated in the Art Museum Area. We regularly host events with clients from the incredible new Barnes Museum located a block away. Directly adjacent to the internationally important Barnes collection of Impressionist Art, is the newly renovated Rodin Museum.
The Rodin collection includes "The Thinker" and the restored bais relief "The Gates of Hell", as well as various studies in soap showing the development of Rodin's works.Group events such as cocktail parties and club functions enjoy our proximity and flexibility to cater to their schedule. Across the Ben Franklin Parkway on Logan Square, lies the Franklin Institute and the Natural History Museum.

A local hot spot. The food is good I personally love their cheeseburger, fries, and french onion soup. The local crowd makes the atmosphere very relaxed and inviting. Lastly the drinks can never disappoint. Lunch, Dinner or Drinks if you in the area this is a great spot. Please like if you find this helpful!

Very bad experience here. We arrived with a party of four on a weeknight happened to be in the area and wanted to get a quick bite to eat. We were the only party in the place there was maybe 3 people at the bar. Once we were seated we were not greeted by any waiter for 30 minutes no one in the establishment even looked our way. Not to mention there was a chicken bone on the floor right next to our table. We decided to leave because they clearly didn't care for our business

My first time here. My boys and I were looking to have some wings and beer also b able to dine in! We found this place and walked in even though they were busy a gentleman who I think either was the owner or a manager came over and asked us if we were doing okay and we would prefer to sit in the next room which was much quieter and moved us and made sure we liked the table. He was awesome. Then we had max who was our server nice guy he made the night! We ordered french onion soup, arugula salad, chicken wings, French fries, chicken Philly steak, Philly steak, muscles in a white sauce. Everything

We got the shrimp taco, Philly cheesesteak, and the tavern wings. Their portions are big - the shrimp taco comes with 3 tacos. For the wings, you can pick different sauces on the side if you can't decide. Their wings are big and nicely battered & fried. I didn't try the cheesesteak but friend said it was good. There's nothing fancy about this place, but it feels like an ideal "hangout spot" when you are looking for

-Mushroom flat bread
-mixed hot wings (SPICY AND CRISPY AND AMAZING)
-whipped ricotta
-cheesesteak
-came back and ordered a cheesesteak to go
Mixed drinks were great, huge beer selection.
Manhattan made perfectly.
Will be back again.
Will reccomend to a friend.

Three words: French onion soup. 5 stars just on that alone! But there's more! This is a really cozy place to grab a bite. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is friendly. We both had the burger and French onion soup and both were absolutely delicious! Staff was super friendly as well. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in the city!

Went with family. It helped that we called ahead, they were able to sit our party of 6 immediately. Food is excellent. Highly recommend the mussels. For apps, the whipped ricotta and the hot and honey wings. I didn’t expect to enjoy the fried Brussels sprouts as much as I did - give it a try, delicious.

Quick bite, drink and an escape from the heat. Pleasantly surprised by this place. Solid beer list and probably the most well put together humus plate I've ever seen. Nice local vibe with a good play list. Good menu, could be a little larger but these days everyone gets some slack in that area. Not busy at all on a Tuesday afternoon but I'm guessing packed at times.

Go here all the time however the service today was atrocious. The waiter made a mistake on our order. We had to wait over 1 hour to get our meal, he blamed the kitchen. I had to go in to speak with the owner to finally get our food. Sad because it has always been a pleasant place with excellent food and service.

This bar should be considered a Philly staple! I am local to the Fairmount area but would recommend people from other neighborhoods come by. The food is WAY better than your average pub. The wings and cheesesteaks are great - so are the mussels! The staff is very attentive and take their time to get to know you and the owner is great as well.

This restaurant is a hidden gem! We were sat right away without a reservation at a cute outdoor table. We got the hot and honey wings, the special summer salad, & shrimp tacos! The wings were amazing. The sauce had a perfect bite paired with the sweetness from the honey. They were massive and very filling. The summer salad was a nice light refreshing salad with a nice balsamic reduction for a dressing. We were both disappointed in the shrimp tacos as they were very bland with no bite and only 2 shrimp each. Our waiter was great. He was funny and very helpful with the food and drink menu

Came here on a Thursday evening with a friend without reservations, but was quickly seated. We opted for the bar, but there were tables available outside and inside if desired. I ordered the Peach Whiskey Smash for a drink which was a great summer drink.
For food, we ordered the shrimp tacos as an appetizer which canned as 3 tacos and was very flavorful. The avocado crema dressing was suburbs. I got the Penne Vodka as my main dish which was a much bigger portion than I was expecting. It was very creamy and tasted great; happy it was a large portion so I could take some home with me. Great neighborhood bar. If you frequent this bar, they'll make you feel like you're a part of the family. The drinks are always flowing and the food is a major step up (or two) from your average neighborhood Irish bar. I highly recommend the wings (hot & honey is my go to) - I've also overheard other patrons that they consider their wings to be top 3 in all of Philly.
Sometimes there's a wait, so make reservations ahead of time or arrive shortly after they open. They'll also take names and numbers if there is a wait. And they actually will CALL you to let you know

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! I'm a single female walking my dog Lili and really craving a cold yummy beer. Already love McCrossens but was over by museum where I was basically neglected service at Bishops Collar for moving to a vacant picnic table instead of sitting where I was "told". Walked out, went to McCrossens where Jamie, with a full house, every table seated, went around the corner to UNLOCK tables and set me up. Proceeded to drink some delish ice cold beer, eat amazing mussels drenched in a fine, silky Dijon cream sauce and the very fine company of Jamie and Steve checking in

You know, I rarely update my reviews, but here I am. I was a bit harsh earlier and I've come back to McCrossen's a bunch of times since my terrible HH experience and it has gotten better. (I will never order the stuff I ordered last time EVER again - review should be below).
Anyway, I love the proximity to my apartment, of course. And I do want to talk about their brunch! AMAZING! $2 mimosas!!! I will never go anywhere else again. You can't mess up brunch and the food was good - I got an omelette, so good and I also had 12 mimosas. I'm not kidding. They're big and strong

While visiting Philly stumbled across this place as we were hungry and needed something to eat nearby. The space is one long hallway. Restrooms located towards back and long bar style set up. We were seated as soon as we walked in.
Our waiter was not up to par as this led tot his rating. It took about 10-15 minutes before we were able to get water for the table and place our order. We did see her pass the table back and forth. Either the place was super busy or short staff, but it took away from our experience of this establishment.
Now the food.....worst wings I've ever had! Ordered 10

With a welcoming, come-as-you-are atmosphere, friendly staff, solid food, and good music, McCrossen's essentially checks all of the boxes you could ask for in a local pub if you're in the area. For me, it's everything that I look for in my local spot. It's become our reliable go-to for a quick bite or a drink when we want to get out of the house. If the weather is good enough, we'll even take the dog and sit outside.
We've tried just about everything on the menu and everything has been good. Their highlights for me are the wings (meaty and delicious) and the falafel

I went there last night for a cocktail, and the options are great! I had the Take My Hand, Not My Picture, and it was one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. My boyfriend had the Stoned on the Subway which was pretty tart but good. They use great ingredients, and it’s well worth the price ($10). The bartenders were very friendly and attentive even when the restaurant was busy. I have not had the food, but I will be back soon!

Started with the hummus and the chipotle and lime chicken tacos. I ordered the sausage rigatoni. Other meals around the table included mussels in white sauce, seared scallops, falafel, and seared salmon.

After living in downtown Boston where there really wasn't much of a neighborhood vibe, it's been refreshing to move to Philly and get some of that feel back. And McCrossen's brings exactly that.
The staff is great. Even when they are busy, they make an effort to provide exceptional service and make you feel welcome (whether you are a regular or not).
The food - so good. Everything we have had so far has been quite delicious as far as pub food goes
