For centuries the people of Mexico have harvested the gifts of the soil: corn, chilies, fresh vegetables, and natural spices. It is this harmony with nature that gives Mexican cooking its rich and natural flavors. For over 25 years, the Ortiz Family has strived to keep the Mexican tradition alive by using the finest and freshest ingredients available to prepare our authentic Mexican cuisine.
In 1991, Don Manuel and Marlen opened "El Cielito Lindo" - the first Mexican restaurant in South Beach - and changed the name to "El Rancho Grande" in 1992. El Rancho Grande's doors were opened for 23 years and left a memorable mark on the South Beach restaurant scene -- known for the best Mexican cuisine and margaritas, and, of course, the biggest Cinco de Mayo block party.

This Mexican food here is pretty good for Miami Beach, the quality is great but the prices are so steep for some items. We ordered Elote off their menu for $10 and all that comes out is a handful of corn topped with Mexican cheese, mayo, and chile piquin.
The service we received was pretty dreadful - I think they were really understaffed. We called to order pick up and I was put on hold for 10mins. I hung up to ring again a few times and the line was always busy. We were pretty determined to have dinner there so we went to put in our take out order in person instead which wasn’t a quick process

This was a great choice for our dinner on our overnight layover in Miami! The food was EXCELLENT! I am originally from Texas and have lived in Mexico for 7 years and still go back there frequently. I thought the food was an excellent blend of Tex-Mex and authentic Mexican food, taking the best from both worlds. The margarita was a bit pricey but delicious! The services is a bit slow but they were packed on a Tuesday night, however, the food is well worth waiting for from the appetizers (rajas con queso - que rico!) to the main dishes. Also great choices for my vegan wife.
We will definitely return

We are OBSESSED with this spot! It is our favorite Mexican spot in Miami hands down. The food and vibes are excellent! The resturant is very clean and the decor inside is very tasteful. The staff are so very friendly and very attentive!
The guacamole is a must order - it is so fresh and comes with an adorable serving spoon! The Chili Relleno and Steak Fajitas are also delicious. We love taking our visitors here for their food and amazing drinks (we like the Spicy Rooster)!
There is street parking and parking garages around the area.
You don't need a reservation - they have plenty of seating

Extremely expensive mediocre restaurant, I only had a chicken fajitas (with not too much chicken) + a soft drink total $35 that is way out of this planet. The soft drink bottle $5 really? The food taste was ok though. Next time, I will go to Chilis or Lime Mexican grill.
Sorry they have to pay expensive rent there, but you chose that place not me.

I live in the gastronomically-rich city of Chicago which has admittedly ruined many a palate for other cities in the US. That is why I am doubly elated to review Tequiztlan which I return to EVERY time I am in Miami. From the Molé, enchiladas tacos, to the Cocktail program, to every single dessert item, this restaurant is at the forefront of the elevation of Mexican cuisine in Miami.
Also, the service is fantastic and the ambiance is like entering Frida's bohemian loft on LSD. Impeccable vibes.

Favorite spot on the beach, hands down. Great menu, food is consistently delicious every single time and the drink program is ONE OF THE BEST IN MIAMI. I don't think you'll find a better, or more extensive, tequila list in town. And it's in a sleepy little nook of the beach so parking is usually not a hassle. Can't recommend this place enough!

10/10!!!!
Best tacos in town! Mexican food is my favorite type so I have eaten at many Mexican spots by here, but this right here, is AMAZING!
Food tasted fresh and delicious. The ambience is awesome- dim/low light, cute neon signs, cool music and a beautiful bar. Could not have asked for better service as well! This place is a hole in the wall- you GOTTA try it.

Nice decor, good location, perfect for a date. Food quality is very good. We had a Mexican type of pizza it was tasteful and delicious. The Chile poblano dish was very successful, the flautas were ok, and my tortillas beef dish was ok too. The price is good for the area, things for improvement : margaritas are lemonade juice cocktail m, nice presentation but no tequila flavor at all. Their bar is very nice decorated but it need a kick. As local I will stop there for cocktails and appetizers But I don’t think I will do due to weak cocktails. They are perfect for someone that drinks one time a

The reason I gave them 3 stars was because no one welcomed us in, we had to wait a while to be greeted and seated and I felt the food lacked in flavors. I came to this restaurant years ago and I remember feeling like they lacked something and decided to give them another try. The decorations were unique and great. We had the torta de carnitas and i felt it was missing a lot of flavor. It definitely has a nice ambiance. Parking is tough to find. We went on a Wednesday night and it was raining and still had a hard time with parking. The waitress we had from the bar was so kind and friendly. She

So first i would like to start with the reception, we felt that the place wasn't very welcoming to the guest or at least it had delays on providing a good hosting maybe they are understaffed so that could also affect. Anyway we came for the sandwich celebration for the latinx heritage month and we had a torta de carnitas. It fell short of expectations, the torta was like any other regular americanized sandwich. The only thing with flavor in that torta were the beans, the rest was pretty much plain and lacked of innovation or authenticity (lived in mexico for 4 years so i think my standards

Closed on Independence Day (my Birthday), but we made it up later in July, with a blast, even a personalized Menu especially printed for us !
So you can imagine the team and the service : dynamic and caring...
The food was tasty, gorgeous, original and the cocktails perfectly elaborated. The deserts not too sweet, unlike in so many restaurants, even the churros were crispy and delicious, like the 3 leches, to finish our dinner with an almost light touch, impossible elsewhere !

What an amazing hidden spot! I came here with some work colleagues and I fell in love with the vibe from the moment I walked into this establishment! The decor all over is so amazing and authentic that I could not get enough of it! From the beloved characters of Chespirito, to the entrance neon sign that says, "no time for pendejos", the amazing bar to the Freda wall!
We all started off with the guacamole and chips along with the ceviche tequiz which were so delicious! The ahi maki and shrimp in the ceviche was so good I'm still dreaming of it!
For drinks I ordered the manguera

I was looking for a fresh, well-crafted margarita, and I found it. Both my drinks were delicious and perfect. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was real cute. The food was fresh. If you get there at the right time, you can walk a block over to the water and watch the sunset. Loved getting a break from the crazy tourism.

What a gem! We visited here while vacationing in Miami Beach. Definitely one of the higher end Mexican restaurants in the area. The decor is beautiful, the restaurant is immaculate, and the food is FABULOUS!! There were 9 of us, and everyone left very happy! The staff was attentive, and followed Covid sanitation protocol.
Not to be missed!

I only went in for drinks because my sister and I wanted to try new cocktails by her house. I wasn't planning to sticking to one drink but I was so happy the bartender recommended this one as our first- didn't switch all night. I don't remember the drink name but the bill said pierda de Alma mezcal and I remember the waitress referred to it as **the special pierda de Alma** all I know is that it's was hands down one of the best cocktails I've had in a while

This used to be our go to Mexican place. The food still
Tastes great. But they have changed the portion sizes. The order of corn "elite" used to bring 3 now only brings 2 . The fajitas used to come with larger flour tortillas now it's small tortillas. We ordered the steak fajitas like we always do...now it's just a few small pieces of meat smothered in lots of veggies. I am all for getting our veggies in, but you could hardly see the steak pieces. Such a shame. Margaritas are still amazing. Guess it's time to find a new Tex mex after years of coming here. By the way I gave

Delicious!
Came for brunch on a Sunday. I ordered the huevos rancheros. Their refried black beans are super tasty and not your average refried beans.
The real star of the show was the Michelada with Pacifico. Their housemade mix is spicy, sour and flavorful. It comes with a chewy Mexican candy, yumm!
Service was great. The atmosphere is definitely somewhere you can relax and enjoy a nice meal.

I have to say - I was pleasantly surprised. I've passed this restaurant many times while in town and just never considered dining there & tbh - I don't think I've ever had Mexican food in Miami.
We were looking for something casual on a rainy Saturday and was feeling margaritas so we stopped in. Service was fantastic and my favorite item was the guacamole and chips. I probably could have eaten two bowls of it.
The margaritas and (chicken) fajitas were good - all of the food was fresh. Def hit the spot and I will be coming back.
