Today was my second time getting a cleaning at Bauer. They do a great job, are very professional, and make quick work of if it. Nothing worse than sitting there with your jaw growing sore for an hour. They had the cleaning finished in 30 mins. Dr. Bauer is fantastic and personable. After trying many dentists in NYC this is the only one I can say I’ll continue to come back to.

Dr Bauer’s the best. Straightforward, up to date on the latest dental technology, calm, informative, a pro. It took me forever to find an honest, conscientious and thorough dentist in NYC, I recommend him to all my friends. - It’s funny, I was going to update my review but after several years as a patient of Dr Bauer’s, I can safely say the exact same thing. I would only add that with family members moving to the city, I emphatically recommend him to family as well.

To start, I'm someone who is fortunate to be born with great teeth, no cavities, healthy gums. Cleanings twice a year. No problems. I went to this practice for about 4-5 years. The hygienist Nicole was always lovely, professional and did a great job. It's very spa like. Very comfortable. The issue was with Dr. Bauer, who from the beginning pushed the extra (pay out of pocket) fluoride treatments (unnecessary at my age), followed by a suggested cosmetic procedure (covered by insurance!) to remove white stains from where my braces had been (didn't work, teeth in fact now

I’ve been going to Dr Bauer many years. I have a gag reflex and have always been apprehensive about going to the dentist in the past. Dr Bauer s very gentle and reassuring and since I’ve been going to him, I no longer have the problem. The staff, especially Michelle, who does the cleaning and I’ve known a while, is so caring and lovely - I know I’m in good hands with Dr Bauer and his staff

Dr Bauer has always taken time to explain in detail his assessment and recommended treatment plan, and his office staff have always prioritized keeping me informed about insurance and any costs. It is clear that the top priority is my health.

With the good: the cleaning was excellent, Nicole is lovely and very thorough. The mouthwash dispenser in the bathroom was cute. The office is cramped but more updated than many offices.
The bad: Dr. Bauer. Knowledgable? Sure. Offensive? Absolutely. I was mansplained to about fluoride (more on this later) and felt very taken aback by his bedside manner. I'm all about helping maximize my insurance reimbursement for you but I do not like being forced into services I do not need just because my plan covers preventive and Xrays without a copay. The staff is welcoming. I found the intake process to be very efficient. The entire staff is very professional. Dr. Bauer is very thorough and reassuring. I enjoy the text and email appointment reminders and confirmations. It’s a very sanitary and state-of-the-art dental facility. Only one visit, but I’m already happy with my choice of Bauer Dental. Already looking forward to my next appointment.

I know Dr. Bauer for over a decade and today I trusted him to extract my tooth #13. (The tooth has 3 roots)
It was a relatively painless procedure making a way for an implant.
He is expensive and accept only top top tier insurance, but you get what you pay for.
Few hours after the procedure I got a call asking how was I feeing after tooth extraction. Quite impressive to me!!!

Used to be good at first. It you have more complex problems (root canals, etc).... probably fo to a different practice. He will recommend work that is probably not the best long term solution but a good "short term" solution for his practice (make new crowns , etc).
He also has an EXTREMELY mansplaining way to talk to women. Not a fan.

Dr. Bauer is great! I am a dentist-phobe and have never enjoyed going to the dentist. I did not have a great dentist growing up, and now as an adult, do my best to avoid going. I really enjoyed my visit with Dr. Bauer, he was friendly, thorough, and answered all my questions. For once, I am not dreading my next visit to the dentist. I would highly recommend his office if you are looking for a new dentist.

Dr Bauer is an excellent practitioner of the Dental Arts , my own brother is long time practitioner with degrees in France and at U Penn in the US that has practiced for over 30 years and he has always praised the work and advice of Dr Bauer one of the finest dentist one can encounter . He has a great office and very efficient professional assistants working on both the medical side and the front office side . Giving anything less than 5 stars to this excellent Dr with deep knowledge of all work and implants would never come to my experienced mind .

Definitely worth trying this practice if you are looking for convenience, professionalism , thoroughness, detail oriented dentistry.
My late husband and I owned 3 dental practices over 15 years ago. I know the difference between bein rushed and a number in medicine/dental office versus caring, taking time to address issues at hand and feeling valued as a patient. Dr Bauer and his staff were a pleasant surprise, I recommend this spa like practice.

My partner and I have been seeing Dr Bauer for a few years now. He is kind gentle, caring and contentious. His office and staff are very professional and has one of the best hygienists in all of NYC. He gives me, sells me, pitches fluoride to me. I get it every time. You are going to the dentist to have healthy teeth. It is proven that fluoride, besides brushing, is one of the best things you can do to your teeth. He's a dentist offering to sell you preventive treatment. So he gets called a thief for that??? Geez its not like he's pushing opioids or a membership??!!

I had a wisdom tooth removed by Dr. Bauer on 9/20/2017 and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. After the tooth removal, I reached out to Dr. Bauer multiple times telling him that something wasn't right and I was still in extreme pain. He said that it was normal and continued to prescribe me 800mg Ibuprofen for weeks and that it will go away over time. I asked if I should have an X-Ray which he said was not necessary and sent me home. Let's start off with the good - the hygienist is great. The bad - the dentist. What's with the upsell on the fluoride treatment? I've been to other dentists in NY for 10 years and not once has that been mentioned to me before. I don't think his condescending tone helps either - implying that money issues are the reason to not get the fluoride treatment?!

Dr. Bauer is a pushy salesman and gets defensive and a bit nasty when you don't agree with him. I just had X-rays and a cleaning from the awesome hygienist there . Unfortunately , I got a big lecture from Dr. Bauer for not purchasing the fluoride treatment ( haven't had a cavity since I was 13) I am a middle aged woman ,who just doesn't want extra fluoride , or need a hyperbolic lecture from a salesman.

I had first gone to Dr. Bauer after I had some sudden pain in my wisdom tooth. It started the day after I had gone to a different dentist, so I didn't want to go back to the same one. Big mistake.
Dr. Bauer pulled out all my wisdom teeth. I was looking at the removed teeth, and noticed an odd hole in the problem one. Only then did he mention that it looked like a filling had fallen out of the tooth. I now know that fillings falling out are pretty

Had a dental crisis that my previous dentist tried to cover up even after 4 post-op visits. I had been unable to sleep well or function for 3 weeks because of the pain from a procedure. Dr. Bauer was kind enough to see me as an emergency today and got rid of all the pain, treated me, and prescribed a future plan based on medical necessity. Very methodical, conscientious, and friendly care. Office had new equipment. Staff was super nice.

I have been going to Dr. Bauer for 2 yrs. Each time I visit, there is an up sell pitch. I have been in sales for 17+ years, so I don't mind but today was just insulting. I am not the only one considering the previous review.
I know he is a good dentist, but to run a good business that is just taking off you cannot constantly be selling to your clients and then get condescending if they don't buy into it.

I needed to see a dentist immediately because I had a medical emergency, and Dr. Bauer's office was close to my home. Instead of taking care of the immediate problem, he tried to pitch me all sorts of rather elaborate procedures and services. I was obviously against spending any more money than I needed, and when I refused he became very condescending -- as if to insinuate that I cannot afford his services. I live on the Upper East Side, money is not an issue for me. He was very demeaning and I felt his behavior towards a woman like me was mysogynistic. I would never recommend his practice

Dr. Bauer and his team make a dentist visit feel like a walk in the park.
Excellent communication with clear steps on the actual work done/proposed. I was given an itemized work plan that mentions the cost of each procedure and my associated co-pay.
I Didn't feel any pain during any of my visits, and the results so far have been great.
