In 2014, co-founders Bryant and Justine Sharifi married each other and their passions, creating the concept behind Perform for Life.
Although Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Bryant, and Registered Nurse, Justine, had very different personal journeys that shaped their relationships with their physical well being, they discovered that they had the potential to combine their philosophies to make a positive impact in the training world.

My trainer, Jon, has been super welcoming and helpful, answering all my questions around proper exercise technique as well as explaining the overall programming approach we're taking.
In particular I've been super impressed by his ability to navigate my past hamstring injury and muscle imbalance. I feel like I'm getting the benefits of physical therapy incorporated into my overall training approach in order to prevent future injuries as well as heal from past.
I couldn't be happier and excited about where we're headed with my training goals around hypertrophy.

Trying PT sessions for the first time and it's a whole new and great experience. The gym is nice and compact. Having a trainer like Scott really helped me keep proper forms and pushed me to gain what I can't gain when I'm working out alone. Very fulfilling overall.

Starting personal training at Perform for Life is one of the best decisions I've ever made for my health and wellbeing. The team is so kind and welcoming. I could not be happier to be part of this community.

I would highly recommend this place. I enjoy training with Jacob. He’s professional, patient, friendly, and always encouraging. He’s very good at helping me find my own workout pace. The programs he designed are very goal oriented. And he’s been constantly measuring my progress and adjust the intensity of the workout.

UPDATE 6/2021: P4L remains my favorite gym of all time. During the last year of COVID restrictions, P4L helped keep me sane and fit with flexible virtual and outdoor workouts that were pandemic safe but super effective. Jacob Albritton deserves credit for being an excellent and supportive coach. His park classes became the highlight of my week. Since P4L opened back up indoor classes he's put together excellent weight training programs and I'm gaining new levels of strength already.

I attended a four week transformation bootcamp with Perform For Life to kickstart my 2020. It included four days of training per week (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri) with two very knowledgeable coaches (Coach Nia and Coach Mel). They took 15 trainees through classes that included boxing, upper body focus, lower body focus, and metabolic conditioning. In addition, we had a free initial consult with an in house nutritionist and two small group and two semi private sessions (in case we didn't think that 4 classes per week were enough).

The P4L group has all excellent trainers for 1:1, semi-private, and small group classes. It's always positive energy and a highlight for me to go to the gym after a long day at work and building positive habits to manage stress!
I've been training with Melissa for over a year - and I’m much stronger and healthier than I’ve been in a long time. She helped me be more confident when doing different workouts in group classes and on my own. Melissa helped me build consistency and exercise habits into my life!

I've been to other group exercise classes in other gyms in the East Bay, but this is by far one of the best that I have attended to. I attended a 6 AM Full Body semi-private class taught by Coach Jon that I highly recommend. He is engaging and encouraging and genuinely does his best to make sure that we have a good experience. At the end of the class that I went to he had us do a finisher, which was a great way to end a challenging class. In addition, his exercises successfully targeted the all of the muscle groups and I enjoyed his explanation of which muscle group each exercise targeted. I'm

I’ve been coming to P4L for over a year to train with Zach Hurley. He’s an incredible trainer and I have seen lots of life improvements through my sessions with him. This gym, like the Mission/Castro and FiDi locations, is well equipped, clean, and bright. All of the trainers, including Zach, are kind and know their stuff. In addition, the other wellness services offered through P4L, such as Chiropractic services with Krystal and nutrition with Emily, have also been fantastic. I highly recommend giving P4L a shot. It’s my favorite fitness experience in SF by a mile.
