Wonderful management and lots of amenities
Hands down the best thing about living at Northwood is the Office and Maintenance staff. They take the time to know who you are, to say hi as they walk around the complex, and even carry treats for the residents' dogs (who they also greet by name). We have a medium/large dog and never once felt like she wasn't 100% welcome by the Northwoods team.
(Specific shoutout to Lauren and Todd!)
Although issues rarely occurred in our newly remolded unit, when they did, the team was quick to act, considerate of our space and time, and made sure the issues were

DO NOT RENT FROM NORTHWOOD!!!
My boyfriend and I moved in of July 2020. It was a really nice apartment and enjoyed the area. However, due to life circumstances, we unfortunately had to break our lease.
When we were signing papers for the lease break, we were told that it would get repainted as soon as possible and be on the market by the following week.
About two weeks after moving out, we received a bill for close to $6,000. Seeing as though on the lease break, the apartment would be pro-rated up until a new tenant moved in. We called and made sure that they knew we were only going to pay the

Northwood was our first apartment together - we were terrified of the process and were intimidated. Northwood's lovely staff held our hand throughout the process and were always kind and warm to us anytime we needed them. We only had good experiences at Northwood and would recommend to anyone looking for a warm community to join.

I’ve lived here for two years. It’s a great place for grad students with pets. The staff are always professional and very nice. After enduring a couple of cheap, small-time landlords when I started grad school up here, it was a relief to work with an actual property management company that invests in retaining its residents and has on-site maintenance staff for emergencies and repairs. The bus routes (32 takes you straight to Cornell in 12-16 min) are good and the proximity to the airport (we almost never hear the planes on the far edge of the property and it’s very quiet here in general

I lived here from 2013-2016 and I returned to this community again in 2020 when my employer told me to work from home. The place is clean, quiet and well-maintained. The apartment management is responsive and professional, and was very accommodating for my unusual lease situation. Maintenance is always quick to respond to issues, and the staff are helpful and friendly. If not for the fact that I would have to eventually move again when work from home ceases, I would probably have loved to stay longer.

I am a LIFELONG TENANT at Northwood apartments. I have lived here for 25 years. This is by far one of the most wonderful places to live in Ithaca. The things people are complaining about are minor ( and some I’ve never experienced )compared to what you get back by living here. The airport is across the street, but we rarely hear the planes taking off or landing. There is no odor from the fuel ever. We are also in the perfect place for amenities. You can easily walk to the mall or the movies etc. We have bus stops are right in the complex, there is a beautiful walkway that leads to a new huge playground

We lived here for 2 years and enjoyed our time here! It is really close to Cornell (5 minute drive, if that), with a bus that pulls right into a stop at Northwood. I couldn't have asked for a more quiet location, and the solid, older building and concrete structure really makes a difference for peace and studying. Yes, the price is inflated, but that is Ithaca for you and you would be hard pressed to find a location as close and quiet as this one. Maintenance was always QUICK. The interior is older as well as the appliances, but whatever. Simple living. It helped to have on-site laundry facilities

I've lived in Northwood Apartments for 3 years as an undergraduate at Cornell and have liked my experience a lot. I have lived in both a 2 BR and a studio, and I enjoy both. While the studio is a bit small, it fits my needs at the current time. I find the property managers to be great. I've had a few mistakes when my mother has written checks for rent, and they have never been petty enough to ask for a late fee for just a few dollars. They are also always willing to check on my apartment when I'm away and check on my cat. Maintenance has also been wonderful.

We lived here our last two years in Ithaca and it was by far the best rental experience I had in Ithaca (not that that is necessarily saying much). The apartments could use a little updating but they are clean and a good value for the money. Maintenance and the office staff were always very responsive and courteous. We never had any noise problems with the neighbors even though there were children/babies living on all sides of us. It's a quiet community with nice grounds and a convenient gym that I used very frequently. Bus service to Cornell from Northwood is great and it was also bikeable

Good Things : Nice floorplan, huge/new windows, clean carpet and nicely painted walls.
Bad Things : Old Appliances, old tiles, old cabinets, not so clean - tons of spider webs outside the building complex and balcony, in sort its an old apartment complex, over priced for the age of the apartments.
Summary :
Considering that they are old apartments, you start seeing things that are wrong or hidden behind nicely painted walls, nice carpet and clean windows once you start living here.
Kitchen and Bathroom floors are old and needs desperate updating. Drawers and cabinets in the kitchen have never

We lived at Northwood for only one year but had an excellent experience. Our apartment was beautiful and clean when we moved in. Northwood allows pets, excluding dogs, and while they may ask for a deposit for a cat, I did not have to give one for my birds. Maintenance service was always prompt and courteous - I felt safe leaving my pets and belongings home alone while maintenance serviced our home. The neighbors were mostly great, with no major complaints of noise. We didn't use the gym facility but it's there and available. Parking was never really a problem, and trash service was great
