Animal Clinic of Anacostia is a community oriented veterinary clinic in Washington, DC. We serve dogs and cats of all ages, offering wellness exams, vaccinations, dental care, and more. Our goal is to provide the best possible care for your pet at an affordable price. When your pet needs medical attention, our staff takes the time to explain all available treatment options.
Services
Wellness exams help detect any underlying or silent conditions that can be cured early on, sparing your pet from pain and agony. At our veterinary clinic, we recommend that you bring your pet in for a wellness exam at least twice a year. A wellness exam includes a thorough physical examination of your pet's eyes, ears, nose, throat, skin and coat, and heart auscultation, as well as an oral exam to detect gingivitis and dental plaque.
Because your pet can't tell you when it has a toothache, make routine dental exams part of their annual health plan. Dental care for pets is for more than just bad breath; cleanings and exams also eliminate potential illnesses by reducing bacteria and other harmful deposits. Let our experienced veterinarians and staff members provide the dental care your pet needs.

Two days before Christmas, while visiting from out of town, my dog tweaked his leg and was quite uncomfortable. The receptionist here was so kind on the phone and let us know they closed early that day but could fit us in if we were able to get over there quickly. I had called 15 other clinics who were all booked out even for emergencies (understandably, with the pandemic and staffing issues all places are experiencing) so I was already so appreciative they were able to see my poor ouchy old man! The lovely, kind ladies at the animal clinic of Anacostia were able to fit my pup in quickly after

When I first got Rockie, he was 6 months and full of life! He wanted to know everything! The only thing he didn't like was getting his nails clipped. The lady clipped one down too short and it bled so as he was crying, I was too. We finished and he's good. Still hates getting them clipped, but he knows he has to. In fact, we're going tomorrow morning ❤️ I love this clinic. Nice service, clean, very pet friendly and convenient to and from my home. Anaconda Animal Clinic will ALWAYS be our home for pet care. Thank you Dr. Ashley & your team! Y'all Rock!!

Very good service, though time consuming wait. I would suggest that they go to an online appt system to minimize the wait time.

I have been a client of Dr. Ashely for going on 25 years. We've taken at least five dogs and four cats to her over the years and she is caring, intuitive, creative, experienced and skilled at dealing with pets in an urban setting. She's hired well and her newest vet is so good with animals that is is a joy to watch. Dr. Ashley is a non-interventionist: she does not engage in extraordinary procedures and if that's what you're seeking she can make referrals. She is a lovely person and a treasure.

A couple of bits of advice: Dr. Ashley does not make appointments. If possible,

We took our rescue puppy there after reading the great reviews about Dr. Ashley. Unfortunately they do not take appointments and operate on a first come first serve basis. We arrived when the vet opened and added our names to the list. We waiting almost an hour and a half outside until we were called. I am not sure why they do not take appointments, but would not recommend using this vet if you have a busy lifestyle like we do. We have since been taking our dog to another vet.

Dr. Ashley is wonderful. This is the best animal clinic in DC. Very ethical, compassionate with intuitive advice based on decades of experience not motivated to make a quick buck by recommending risky procedures for the bottom line. A breath of fresh air. 10 stars.

They used to have longer hours, but COVID shut that down. Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9-11 am, Thursday there closed, Saturday 9-11:30 am. If you go on Saturday get there around 6:30, ijs they come out early and only take a certain number of clients.

5 stars all the way. I started taking my pet to them as soon as we got him at 2 1/2 months. They have ALWAYS been professional, courteous, & reliable. They give great resources and are willing to answer all the questions of a new pet owner. Their prices are way more than fair. As long as you get there early you will be seen.

Thankful for Dr. Ashley and team to have helped us to have a VERY positive first "together in person" puppy vaccination experience. The time was taken to work with my sweet and large 75 lb pup with anxiety to not only safely administer his vaccinations but to comfortably do so also. My day was brightened by Dr. Ashleys care and reassurance. I have never had a vet experience go as well as this, thank you Animal Clinic of Anacostia! We will be back!

Worst clinic ever! I stood outside in the line for about one hour. Then I waited for more 2 hours to them to call me and nothing! When I decided to check what was going on, the person was really rude and said they did call me! Yes of course... I just like to waste hours of my morning wanting for no reason! Not professional and really disorganized!

Absolutely disappointed. When I first adopted my rescue pup, I chose this clinic as her primary vet since it's close to home. But they have failed me twice in cases of emergency and I'm done.

The first time, my dog was sick and when I called during their extremely limited hours, I was told to take her to VCA animal hospital in Alexandria where she was treated wonderfully by kind and capable people. I thought it was odd that they wouldn't see her but my focus was on getting her better. And this happened pre-covid. This latest time was inexcusable.

Now let me preface this review by saying that I am a dog person but I now have grand daughters
Shiloh Aziza is 4 and Zahara Carolyn is 2. Because Shiloh is the oldest I asked her what she wanted some fish or a puppy or a kitten and darn if she didn't say a kitten. I have zero experience with cats except the one time that I house sat for a Sistah friend and she had a cat
So I called this office and the wonderful older woman that answered the phone made me feel confident that I could achieve my goal to successfully purchase a kitten and safely deliver Cat Whiskers to the office to get the clean

RUDE!!! RUDE!!! RUDE!!! RUDE!!! I have never been so disrespected when I have called a place in the past. I called to ask what shots I needed to give my puppy and how much it would cost.... the lady who answered the phone literally said, "how should I know?" I then asked if I could speak with someone who would know and she, again, literally said, "NO! You will deal with me!"

Came in this morning to get my cat a Rabies shot & his nails clipped.

It was definitely a wait. It's walk-in and the hours are only from 9-12/12:30.

The service itself was quick and the staff was very informative.

It's not fancy in the inside but it's clean and the prices is unbeatable!

Will be retuning for all my cat needs.

I tried calling a vet clinic near me, but the person that answered the phone kept putting me on hold. I decided to trek over to Anacostia. There were other animals waiting and they don't schedule appointments so I just waited. Since I was only there for immunizations, I was able to see the nurse/tech. She was great. She and the woman that answered the phone offered me cost info and details that I needed. She provided my pup with great care and me with helpful advice. I will continue to travel to Anacostia for the quality and warm care of this clinic.

Dr Ashley by far is the best Vet in the DMV.
I have a pure bred papillon whom has seen her since he was 12 weeks old. Sammie is now 11 years old and continues to receive the best care.
Check the website to ensure you go when they are open and I believe you will have a wonderful experience. The staff is great as well!

If you take you pet here and something drastic is suggested PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get a second opinion. I will NEVER take my dog here again. My dog was bleeding excessively from a growth near his mouth but wasn't acting as if he was in any pain. The doctor there was ADAMANT that he needed to be put down. Nothing else was suggested. To the point where I was shocked. He was acting normal just bleeding a lot. Thankfully later that evening the bleeding had stopped and the growth happened to fall off. When we took him to a vet in VA that next day they said he was totally normal! The doctor just

I wish I could give this so-called "vet clinic" zero stars. My boyfriend took our Corgi puppy in to this clinic to get fixed today and he did not make it through the operation. Do you know what the chances of that happening are? 1 in 100,000. My guess is that they used too much anesthesia on our little guy. I'm so heartbroken and my boyfriend is too. If you want your pet to live I would NOT go to this vet. Now we have to make it through the holidays without our Pip.

Thanks for the devastation, Animal Clinic of Anacostia. I hope you do your best to figure out what the hell happened

Dr. Ashley is the most conscientious, kindest vet in the DMV. I and our dogs are lucky that the Clinic is so convenient for us. She is so knowledgeable yet low key, its a pleasure to have such a good vet available. The Office staff also is competent and friendly. My only concern is that the Clinic's hours are limited, so we have established relations with other more "24-7" type operations for emergencies. But we've been lucky to be able to have our dogs treated by Dr. Ashley with few exceptions.

I took my cat Kage (kah-geh) to get a general check up and whatever vaccinations he would need if he needed them. I was greeted by the staff and informed that the air conditioning was out. The place was already crowded when we arrived but everyone was polite and so were the animals.

My cat actually was the only one expressing his distaste for being in his carrier, and being disrespectful by meowing when someone started speaking as to talk over them, or yowling in response like someone was talking to him. Trust me I know him lol!

What I admire most is the fact that although it was hot they made
