I've been eating at Rumi's for so long so I just wanted to update my review. Update: It's still as good as ever! Recently, I found out that you can order their Turkish Bread whole. It's really good for making sandwiches! I also recently ordered their lamb tandir and it was so succulent and had so much flavor! I am still eating here and still discovering new things to eat! If that's not a testament to how good Rumi is, I don't know what is.

Very poor customer service. We wanted music, they couldn't get music to work. We wanted drinks, they didn't bring anything to drink until our meal arrived, not even water! The lamb was dried out and not very good. The French Fries were good, but French fries are not complicated to get right. I will not eat here again, and also would not recommend this place. I had better food from the food vendor truck!!

We stopped to eat here while looking for a new place for my brother who will be moving in the area. The hostess, who also ended up being our waitress, was a little rude as we were trying to ask how long the wait would be in the kitchen for food to come out. We ended up sitting outside, and it was cozy even though we were right on the sidewalk, I didn't feel worried as people passed by - although this was. The food itself was decent, although some of the meat in our dishes was a bit more bland. We had to order quickly, and eat quickly, but the food did come out quickly and we ended up taking

Love the calm atmosphere and BYOB style. The food is so delicious and prepared fresh I love it in both dine in and take out options.
I recommend going and trying lots of the appetizers if you have never been. You’ll be happy you tried a bunch. Their mains are big enough to split so go hungry or be happy to share or take home for lunch!

I love this place. The food is so tasty and the staff is so friendly and accommodating. The waitress which served our table was from Istanbul and knew so much about the food and how it is prepared.
I am now a regular at Rumi Turkish Grill!!
I will see you tomorrow.
Thank you so much for the great hospitality.

Amazing food and service. We were having our dinner and witnessed that the group next to us were starting to attack the restaurant. After they finished all their food they went on verbally attacking the staff and then throwing their left overs on the floor saying that the service was bad. I’m sure that this Karen will post a bad review so wanted to share what actually happened as a bystander. Please support this great local business!

Rumi Turkish Grill is a friendly neighborhood restaurant specializing in Turkish delicacies. Located on Greene Street in the Paulis Hook section of Jersey City, it's an excellent choice for either lunch or dinner. It offers both indoor and outdoor dining (seasonal). The great added feature is that the restaurant is a BYOB with a number of liquor stores within the immediate area.
The lunch special, Monday - Friday 11:00 - 3:00, offers the diner an array of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian entrees. The special consists of a choice of appetizer followed by main course and a beverage. This

Absolutely the most offensive service ever!! The staff is not only unprofessional, but they are shameless. The food is nearly average; therefore one would hope that the service would be good enough to make up for the dry, day old meat.
The restaurant business is quite simple. Customers dine out for 2 things, good food and good service.
If the food is good, a customer may overlook the rude servers. Alternatively, if the food is mediocre, but the service is remarkable, customers might give it another chance.
Unfortunately, if the food you are serving is garbage, being served by trash servers

Short Review:
+ Food: 4
+ Service: 4
+Conclusion: ★★★★
Detail Review:
We went there for lunch because our hotel was near by. They have a couple tables outside so I and my wife decided to enjoy that beautiful day. I ordered a dish of rice with chicken, where my wife have it with lamb. My dish was good, the chicken was grilled fine, juicy, not dry. The only thing about my wife dish was the smell of lamb. I am not a fan of the smell of lamb, so I didn't really enjoy it.
The service was great, he was friendly and... chill. You will know what I mean when you get there. :)

Another neighborhood local spot and I'm all about supporting locally owned eatery. Walked by plenty of times that I noted their own website to order directly for pick up order since 2 blocks away. Falafel was different, have middle eastern background so I'm particular with falafel so not a big fan, but the eggplant salad which is tomato based sauce so flavorful and the yogurt cucumber salad Amazing so will order combo salad platter again to try out the other offerings ..lamb and rice dish tasty as well.. will be ordering again to try out the rest of menu..

I have been going to Rumi for 4 years. The place is awesome.
My favorite thing to order is the Rumi salad, chicken kabab in a wrap (with jajik!), and a seltzer for lunch.
They also do a great Shepard salad, have amazing hummus, and have tasty veggie and meat options for dinner.
The only downside is you cannot have a wrap for on-premises service.
I love this place. I go there once a week and can not recommend it more.

This place has all the makings of being a good cozy food joint located in a pretty neighborhood. Unfortunately, the food doesn't really live up to the mark [more so when you compare it with the absolutely brilliant "Dolma" located in the neighborhood].
I've tried the Veggie Kebab and was somewhat disappointed at the lack of taste or flavor. The same goes for the falafel wrap as well.
Probably a much better place for meat eaters

Came here for a quick lunch bite. Ordered a Chicken Gyro Wrap. When I got there to pick it up I interacted with 2 different people, and I must say the staff isn't too polite. I grabbed my order walked out saying have a good day, and didn't even get an answer back.. Ruuuude!
The 2 stars go for the speed of service and the very generous amount of Chicken in the wrap. The jejik however I felt like was not enough.
Also, I asked for hot sauce, and their hot sauce was a cheap version of franks red hot sauce.. like who wants that hot sauce on Mediterranean food?

Debating b/w 2 or 3 stars. Experience was more like 2.5 stars.
Coming to why? Went there for lunch and everything was super slow. Taking order took time, appetizers came in 15 minutes, one of the 2 drinks came, other came after 10 minutes. Lost track of time when entree came, we were there for weekday lunch for over 1.5 hrs!! We went downstairs to kiosk to get our check and pay up to save time.
Lunch menu seems like a steal but it's now, quantity is very less and entree is some grilled meat or vegis with rice, but some sauce is missing to bring it all together. Also the yogurt drink in

The food was good until I found a shard of plastic in my mouth that came form my stuffed cabbage.
I pulled it out of my mouth and spit out the rest of the food into a napkin and showed it to my waiter. The later told me the chef said was sorry and they gave me a complementary baklava for dessert... but sill charged full price for the meal.
If I ever come here again I'll get a kebob or something easier to screen for foreign objects.

Turkish restaurant near the Hudson River close to Exchange Place. I came close to closing time and there were just a couple of people dining. I ordered a salad and the lamb entree that came with rice and vegetables. The salad was pretty good and I like how they added (for an additional $2) fresh feta on top. The entree (lamb) was on the dry side but seasoned well.
The server wasn't that attentive and it took Swahili to make eye contact so I could get m the check and pack leftovers.
