I have been part of the fitness world my entire life, first as a competitive gymnast and speed skater back home in East Germany, then as a U.S. based martial artist, bodybuilder, blogger and certified fitness trainer. I fell in love with sports from a ridiculously early age, especially the confidence-boosting aspects and learned early on that physical fitness can help you actualize your goals in all areas of life.
Starting a new training program can be intimidating because there's so much to consider. But I'm here to help you take the important first step through all the clutter and misinformation, and then keep going. I live, eat and breathe working in partnership with my amazing clients. Together, we'll nail your personal nutrition & fitness goals so you become the best version of yourself, inside and out.
You love to challenge yourself. You work hard to succeed in all aspects of life. You are willing to do what it takes to get the results you're seeking, but something's still missing. Integrity, Genius, Kind, Honest, Expert, Coach, Inspiring, Teacher, Motivator.....these are a few words that come to mind when I think about Anka Urbahn. She leads with her soul and works out of her zone of genius.

I have been working with Anka for almost one year. After training for over 25 years, some of that time with other trainers, I thought I knew everything there was to know about fitness and my body. Wow was I totally wrong! After training with Anka, not only did I learn a variety of new and innovated exercises, I learned how to redo all the old exercises I thought I knew but turned out I was doing them completely wrong. Anka had a bold suggestion - hit the reset button! She suggested I start from scratch to undo all the poor form and body posture - this time train with proper warm up, stretching

Having struggled on and off with anxiety and depression, I decided I wanted to get more physically active and stronger in my body, in part to interrupt my old patterns of overwork, worrying, and getting stuck in my head. I used to be much more active, but stopped after an ankle injury that had also left my body lopsided from compensating for the weakened ankle. I was feeling frustrated that I wasn't more active and not very strong, and this colored my overall confidence in myself and in my life. I have been with Anka for about 9 months. I was looking for someone who can help me develop muscle tone and ended up getting much more. Anka emphasizes proper form and technique; she watches closely and makes adjustment throughout the entire session. She'll explain using simple analogies that help me understand and remember. Under her training, I have become more efficient and I am learning to maximize my workouts. I am seeing results in the way my body has change. Anka is magical! We started training together back in 2016 (time flies), and she completely changed my life. I was 227 pounds when we started, and I lost over 50 pounds within a year. I went from a size 13/14 to a 7/8.

I've been working with Anka Urbahn on and off now for about 3 years. I cannot day enough how this facility and Anka have impacted not only my fitness, but my mental health as well. For me, having a strong body is more of a side effect of my training with Anka... she continuously builds up her clients, which are primarily female and helps them reach their full potential both in and out of the gym. Anka is amazing. She is inspiring and very knowledgeable about fitness, nutrition, but most importantly for me body mechanics. I started working with her about 1 year ago after working with another trainer who I worked with for many years but retired. Anka has made me aware of various issues with my movement, etc. that are result of inherited skeletal issues but there are ways to correct them to avoid problems. Like many women, I spent years trying to lose weight with inconsistent results. I tried eating differently, doing tons of yoga and cardio, lifting weights--stuff that took a lot of planning and research but didn't always pay off (and I was never really sure why it worked when it did). It's simple. Anka is the BEST.

My goal was to welcome my next decade into my 50's as strong as ever and to finally rock that mini! Hiring Anka to be my personal trainer was one of the best decisions I've made in my work-out journey!

Before I trained with her, I've worked out on my own for so many years. But, due to the stresses and pressures of work and life, I've let things slip and had lost sight of my fitness goals. I have had an amazing experience training with Anka. She is motivating, thorough, and works hard at helping you work hard.

Background:
I travel constantly as part of my job and often do not have access to a real gym. I was looking for a personal trainer who could help me with my situation, to create a program and learn exercises that might only require dumbbells and/or bodyweight. I am an ex-competitive dancer so I was already relatively healthy and was familiar with physical fitness. I trained with Anka for 2 months last year. I have practiced yoga since 2000 and was not comfortable or knowledgeable in a gym. She was able to help me condition for snowboarding and work on strengthening muscles to alleviate back & hip pain. I also tracked my food, sugar & alcohol intake and was surprised by it. I've permanently cut drinking OJ in the morning and still do the resistance bands for strengthening my glutes. Anka is inspiring to work with and makes it fun. Diakadi is a great place to work out.

Anka had changed my life.

I first came to her through the typical avenue - I was a bridesmaid in a wedding and I wanted to loose 20lbs in 2 months. I was surprised by how approachable she was. When I walked her through my daily routine, she explained to me that 20 lbs is doable but that A) its extreme and not the healthiest route to go and B) The overall idea of a trainer is to build a healthy lifestyle, to where you find yourself doing the routines on your own.
