Mary and Lauren met at Paul Mitchell the School- Chicago, and quickly became best friends. Both grew up having a passion for the beauty industry and while in school had always visualized one day teaming up and opening their own space they could call home. They both worked at local salons in the Beverly neighborhood for the next five years.
Finally in 2017 after long discussions, they decided to manifest their dreams and make them a reality. Construction started at the old hat shop, Optimo Hats, at 10215 S Western in February of 2017. Marlo Salon was created and opened its doors that April. Since opening, Marlo Salon has been a bright, positive oasis for its clients and staff to escape to.

Walking into Marlo is like walking into a white woman's Instagram. I returned to this salon because they are 10 minutes from my home, and they seem like they know what they are doing. For the price though, I'm not blown away. The girl who cut my hair didn't smile once, and she seemed annoyed having me in her schedule.
I probably won't return to this salon unless I desperately need a cut/color and they are the last resort.

This is definitely a place where they only care about their regulars. Went here for a haircut. I don't even know if I can call it that. The lady barely touched my hair and was more concerned where I was from than what I wanted done to my hair which rubbed me the wrong way like sorry I stepped foot in your salon? Super unwelcoming vibe. Also she barely even touched my hair and gave me the most choppy bangs/layers. I ended up fixing them when I got home. Money wasted. Don't waste your time here like I did.

Marlo is the only place I go for all my hair needs. I’ve followed Lauren since her previous salon but also had her girl Courtney do my hair and love it all! They have awesome mingles a couple times a year and the products they sell are top of the line. It is an extremely beautiful layout and everything in there was well thought out. I think the entire staff is welcoming and attentive to my needs. I have recommended many people to them and I eagerly wait to return in between my appointments. See ya’ll in a few weeks!

Brunettes Beware! Marlo Salon was a genuinely awful experience, From the first interaction until the last, I was left speechless. Do not book with Hannah if you want something natural, I asked for subtle blended color to enhance my natural color, I came out bleach blonde. The rest of the women were rude and made me feel belittled. My hair is ruined, had to go to a different salon to fix the my hair.

Absolutely adore this salon. First of all, the entire staff is super sweet and helpful. Second of all, the always play the best music. Third of all, I want my house to look and smell like this salon. Teach me your ways ladies!!
However the reason I keep coming back isn't the atmosphere, it's the incredible Courtney Ryan. She does an amazing job on my hair, time after time. She also takes the time to teach me what she's doing so I can recreate it myself. Oh and I love hanging out with her for 2 hours! Legit look forward to my hair appointments.
