We used to love La Hacienda - ate there frequently pre-covid; since then, we have ordered take out routinely. But something has changed - new cooks? New recipes? Food lately has been bland and mostly unrecognizable. Very disappointing. Hopefully this is a short-term blip and dishes will return to their norm. But it will be a long time before we try again ....

Stopped by early morning and they served up some decent Mexican food, they did have chile rellenos i'm happy to say wow they did good on this dish
Here are some other plates we enjoyed that they served up chilequiles with over easy eggs and rice, plate of bacon home fries and scrambled eggs
The chilequiles was good the runny egg over made it perfect, crunchy chips, well season around the board
The chile relleno with one crispy carne asada taco with rice and beans was really good the chile relleno was filled with cheese, I would order this again, meshed with the rice and beans solid plate

Me and my boyfriend came here tonight and the whole experience was wonderful. We had our dog with us and our waitress came out with a bowl of water for her. She was incredibly friendly and kept checking in on us. The food was amazing and the price was incredible for the quantity. We'll definitely be coming back often :)

Had to give this place a shout out. Called in a pick up order, told 20 minutes. Arrived, order came up in about 2 minutes and was very nicely packaged. Order of two enchiladas and one chili verde came with plenty of chips, salsa, beans, rice and -surprise - a delicious cup of soup! Couldn't ask for a more satisfying meal and will definitely go back. Price is right! Give these hard working folks a try.

This has been our favorite Mexican restaurant with delicious food and friendly service. All that changed on June 19, when we went there for our first dining out since the lockdown. Once seated, we noticed that the servers, including the owner, were not wearing any masks. When my wife and I brought it up to the owner she stood next to our table and angrily argued that she didn't have to wear any mask. We left, shocked and sad. I hope they change their behavior before they loose their license.

My husband and I are regulars of this wonderful mom-and-pop Mexican restaurant. It compares well to more upscale local restaurants. We used to eat here twice a week before the shelter-in-place order. We were very happy to find out they're now open for takeout! Just got our fix of chile verde and enchiladas suizas. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Tell Emilia and Mario that Deana sent you.

I know that new owners took this place over a while ago. Since the place has been super rundown, torn up booths, missing tiles, kind of funky and dirty, for many years, I figured the new people would surely spruce it up.
Went there today and no such luck. Still holes in the booths, cracked tiles, icky.
I don't get it. I always feel like especially at a restaurant, if the parts the customers see are pretty gross, I can only imagine what the parts the customers don't see look like.
We ended up staying there and eating, and the food pretty much was exactly the same as the old owners

I love La Hacienda! We have been going here for decades because it's the best family owned, go-to Mexican place in town. Great food at reasonable prices and a wonderful staff. I always get the burritos plate (chicken and steak) which comes with the two burritos, a side of rice and beans, and a little salad on the side. Not bad for $12.50. Simple indoor seating, booths and tables and a cute little outdoor seating area, which is dog friendly. If you're looking for a great Mexican dinner that feels like home, look no further.

I have been coming here for over 10 years. Last night was the first time I have eaten here since the new owners took over. I was pleasantly surprised the menu was the same. The food was really good, the servers were extremely friendly, and did I mention the coffee? Apparently the new owner used to manage the coffee shop in Redwood City called Back Yard Coffee. I am a fan of the new owners and look forward to coming back.

A lot of people have their favorite go to restaurants in San Carlos, mine is this place.
The servants is consistently positive, warm, and friendly, and this is been a family restaurant for a while.
If I'm in this area I usually go in for their lunch special or their dinner plate. My go-to is there combination special which has a chicken enchilada, a beef taco, and chili relleno.
The enchilada has a really nice sauce, and the Chile rellano has right amount of spice and cheese without a whole lot of egg batter.
I like the beans here, the rice is really flavorful, the taco is always Fresh

This is my second time here and they have exceeded my expectations. My wife and brother came with me for a nice Monday dinner. We started with their Albóndiga soup which was full of flavor and reminded me of a home made meal. Pork Chile verde was excellent and low-sodium for those that are concerned about excess salt. Enchiladas Suizas were also outstanding served on a Hot plate with sides of beans, rice and a small salad. Finally, my Camarones al Mojo de Ajo were delicious.

I'm not such a fan of their sangria here - it tastes a little like watered down hawaiian punch to me. Their food is pretty good though and their salsa is on point. I would recommend coming here if you're in the mood for some decent taqueria food. There's not a ton of room to maneuver around inside as it's a smaller place, but the staff is pretty quick to get you seated and served and have always been friendly. When it's nice out, they have an outdoor patio area which is good for larger groups.

They say never judge a book by its cover give everybody a Best Shot. Unfortunately I have to say that these people cannot make a burrito to save their life. The food is edible so I'll give it that. But as far as burritos are concerned there are few things I look for. One it doesn't fall apart in the aluminum foil to it's not so watery that I need a sponge to dry it. And three it should stay for my hand for most of the meal. In that respect this was not a very good..
Had this been a wet burrito I would might have made a consensus on that but this was just a basic rule that goes in
