This restaurant has the best upscale twists on classic Latin style dishes. Not just a run of the mill flavors, but unique and flavorful updates to the classic dishes most would be familiar eating at a cantina. The margaritas are a potent and tasty treat (if you dare)!! Give it a try, and you won't be disappointed.

Great! Primarily Mexican food, but there is a small menu from their sister restaurant consisting of typical American food. I had the burger and the rest of our party ordered food from the Mexican menu. Food was delicious and service was excellent and friendly. Because of staffing issues they are operating at limited capacity which impacts their hours of operation. Should call ahead.

This place had the worse service I have EVER had!! You seat yourself and come back to cashier to order (who is very slow) and pay up front. took 45 min to get food, no drinks(water) till well after food served even after asking. There were only four other occupied tables who had all been served but us. One of Our orders were not correct and we had to get our own to go boxes! We will NEVER go back!

We haven't been there since it was Tortilla Flats(about 6 years ago). Glad we stopped in! You have to order at the counter/bar and they bring the food to your table. So if your looking for "fine dining " it's not the place for you. If your looking for good food, good drinks a very friendly energetic owner and staff (not to mention the good music they play) this is the place. Great food and lots of it and good drinks. Great place to stop after a nice walk through town. We'll be back!

This is my new favorite restaurant in downtown P'ville. Being vegan and living in the hills, finding accommodating restaurants can be challenging. I'm glad to have walked into this place because they rolled out the red carpet for us.
I had the fried avocado street tacos with beans and cilantro rice. The portions were large, which left us with a box to take home. This place knows how to do fried avocados. They were perfect; and the flavor combination of the veggies in the taco was spot on!
The service was amazing too. The staff was friendly, caring, and went out of their way for us

It's difficult to review a place during Covid. For years we occasionally stop by this place on our way to and from Tahoe.
I remember it used to be called Tortilla Flats. We were just there October 23, 2021. They weren't offering table service, it that was okay. You order and sit down. They then bring you your food. Yes, the table service is limited, but the food is good. You can tell the employees working we're doing their best being short staffed.
This is till a go to for our family.

Went to this restaurant on a whim. We are more than pleased with this decision! Margaritas are wholly moly absolutely nothing less than amazing!! The food does not fall short whatsoever! Absolutely recommend this business. Good is excellent, service is beyond amazing, and it's clean and orderly inside as well.

This is such a hard review to write because the place has really tasty food (5 star) but the service is nonexistent (1 star) and the bathroom was trashed and not refilled of supplies. (1 star)

When this place was Tortilla Flats it was amazing. I don’t know when Tortilla Flats was sold but the current Mexican food served here is straight out of a can. From the sides the main dish it is trash food with a very steep price. Be ready to spend upwards of $20 a person here. Service was good for them being short staffed but that is the only reason I am giving them a 2 star rating. I would have been better off taking my family up to one of Apple Hills many farms and spend the same amount of money getting better food. You will get sick on Hangtowns food trust me. Stay away!

So this place has pretty decent food (although pricier than it should be) but service is nonexistent for the most part. There was only 1 server for the entire place, inside and out! After eating our food my hubby stood in line at the counter for FORTY MINUTES just to pay our bill .... they are lucky my hubby is so honest because I would have walked out way before that! Make sure if you come here that you have plenty of time, our simple lunch took 2 hours. Oh, and a strange thing .... the menu specifically says *homemade corn tortillas* and when we asked about them, we were told that they do not

Went for lunch to give new owners a chance. The previous owners had horrible service and haven't eaten there since. Had to place order at the bar. Went to wash up in bathroom before sitting down. No toilet paper and the toilet almost overflowed when flushed. The other bathroom had been locked by the employee so it was unusable.
Simple lunch of enchiladas and soda. We had to buy tortilla chips and salsa if wanted. They were not offered complimentary like other eateries. When lunch arrived to the table the enchiladas were lukewarm. No salsa was offered to flavor food, plus nobody ever came to refill

This is a decent place in Placerville if you have Mexican food craving to satisfy. My husband ordered a shrimp burrito....he got a chicken burrito. Not a big deal to him, but the server offered to take it back & make his order correct, he just said no, it was fine. Personally if I'd ordered a shrimp burrito I'd have sent back the chicken one. I ordered a strawberry margarita with a float, it was very tasty! Also ordered the churros...honestly the BEST churros that I've ever had. If their menu changed, they better not change the churros!!! Would we come here again? Sure!

Great food! Waitress was a bit off putting. I'm generally pretty forgiving when it comes to service but this woman literally only took our order and came out at the very very end when we had to grab her attention to ask for a to go box. In the meantime, she approached the table next to us, who was her friend (so I kinda understand).. but still would have been nice to be checked in on. I guess just average service or slightly less. Hopefully the waitress can read this and make some improvements. Good vibes only

Never ate at Placerville, and this place definitely made me want to come back! It exceeded my expectations with their tacos and appetizer taquitos. I really wish they served horchata to make my meal complete. But overall, I love their street tacos and their appetizers. Will definitely come back here.

I was so happy when Tortilla Flats resurrected into this beauty! The revamped menu was a total game-changer. While the prices are higher than what they were once upon a time, every penny is worth it in the portions and quality. It's impossible to stop eating the chips and salsa here. The menu has a glorious pint of salsa for your enjoyment. My favorite entree is the street tacos which you can mix and match the meats. They also offer two different rices--both of which are delicious. Pro-tip: ask for a half and half rice portion so you can enjoy both! I appreciate their quality margaritas here

Oh my goodness! What great food! My husband and I had the flautas to start. They were perfect! Crispy shell with a wonderfully soft filling, covered with a delicious cremè and salsa fresca. My entreè was the carnitas enchiladas. The sauce is something special, and the meat is slow cooked to perfection. You can't find an enchilada this good anywhere else in town. Give Hangtown Cantina a try. You'll be impressed!
