This salon is the best of the best of the best, there is none better!
My appointment was with lead Expert colorist, Michael. I have never in my life seen my hair this gorgeous as a golden blonde! The color is so beautiful but I really cannot get over it! It is so soft and natural looking, so silky looking And so bright with beautiful highlighting without it even being highlighted technically!! It looks like I just got off the beach after several days but a deeper warmer tone! I am so thrilled! I would never wanna change to an iota so that's the challenge But no challenges to huge for him

I went to Vartali Salon over this past weekend, as my friend and I were in the city from LI for a wedding. We needed hair and makeup. Here are my thoughts:
Pros: Very clean, very punctual. My friend and I both really liked how our hair turned out and my friend really liked her makeup as well. Easy to find and we went based off yelp reviews. Very friendly and prices were decent for NYC.

I struggled for years trying to find a hair salon in NYC that could give me a natural blonde color without totally wrecking my hair... my search was over when I found Vartali!!!!
I have been going to Vartali for years now and I cannot say enough amazing things about the salon. Not only did they save my hair but they also welcomed me in as family. Every time I walk in the door, I feel like I am home.
My hair has never looked better or been healthier! Ana does my highlights - Michael is also fantastic if you can’t book an appointment with Ana! Tatyana does my eye brows and nails - highly recommend

Vartali is simply the best. The entire process is wonderful - from the moment you schedule an appointment with Jane, being welcomed by everyone when you walk in, color with Ana, cut with Piet, Mika or Vartan, eyebrows with Tatyana. The output is always reliable, but when you're going to commit to 3+ hours in a salon for a cut and color, you want the process and the experience to be great - and it is! 10 years strong at Vartali Salon :)

I was hoping this would be my new salon - I have to find a new one bc my stylist left my last place and I can't find her! - but my haircut at Vartali yesterday turned out just...okay. I came here with a Gilt City voucher and Gilt is actually how I discover a lot of places I am now loyal to/pay full price at. The thing I'm kind of annoyed at myself and the salon about is that the "value" of the voucher was $135 but I was put with the most junior stylist who I believe charges $80. I didn't request anyone specific when making the appointment but I guess I could have asked

I wasn't sure what to expect because I was a walk-in but I really needed my hair cut and highlighted... Tara did my hair and I love it. It looks really natural and she got rid of the brassy color that I had before. Love when I get a color AND cut that I'm not trying to fix myself when I get home. I will be going back for sure.

What can I say? This salon deserves 10 stars. The stylists in this salon are phenomenal. Piet always does such an amazing job on my hair. I always walk out satisfied and people stop and complement me on my hair. It's an oasis and experience and I will always come here and fly up when I'm out of the state to get my hair done. I just had my hair styled today for the first time by Mika. He was very attentive to all my wants and needs for the styling (I have long hair) and was meticulous with every cut. I HIGHLY recommend him and will be a returning client. Between Marco (who is an extraordinary colorist!) and Mika, you can be assured that you too will be thrilled with their skill, experience, and "chairside manner". These two help make Vartali the best salon in the City!

I was looking for a new hairdresser since I haven't had a cut in 9 months. I was so desperate, but didn't want to get it cut by just anyone. My cousin told me that Monda does her hair and she is the absolute best!
Usually at hair salons they rush to see as many clients as possible to make the most money, but Monda is different.
She took the time to go over what we were going to do to my hair. She carefully listened to what I was looking for and provided her professional expertise. I have long hair and have had so many bad experiences where I tell the hairdresser I want 2-3 inches cut

Mika is the best stylist I've ever had. He is talented, but also so kind. He really wants you to love yourself and end up loving him, too. I always feel so happy and confident after he does my hair.
P.s. I love him so much that I had him do my hair for my wedding and it was perfect and he kept me so calm and relaxed before I walked down the aisle

I haven't yet had a personal experience with services at this salon however I did attend an event that my friend Adam hosted at the salon to promote his new dating app called Coy. The event space was spacious, clean and was set up beautifully to match the theme of the party. There were roses, candles and writing on the mirrors to promote the salon and my friends dating app. The bartender and owner of the salon were incredibly friendly. The owner made sure that everyone was well taken care of, you can tell that he has a geunine love for his business and everyone that enters it. At the event

Vartali always gets it right. Michael and Ana are color geniuses and Vartan and Piet are master stylists. The atmosphere is friendly, warm and everyone is always personable. I've had long and short cuts, high lights, low lights and even gone blue! They truly do it all. I highly recommend Vartali. A salon like this in NY is hard to find.
Bonus: They do a ton of giving back and for charity. Vartan is an excellent artist and often sells his artwork to benefit local non-profits. I love these guys!

I absolutely LOVED this place! My stylist Mika was a hair cutting genius! He spent TWO hours cutting my hair it was amazing how much time and care he put into it. It looked SO healthy and beautiful afterwards!
This place separates stylist based on their "speciality" meaning certain stylist only cut, others only color, etc. This allows each stylist to really master his/her speciality. I got a Gilt voucher because I have been meaning to check out Vartali from recommendations. I am usually a very low-maintenance girl and get my hair cut and styled 1-2 times a year at a pretty average place upstate where I live. What a nice treat to end up at Vartali! Everyone was courteous and friendly, and there was no snobbery at all even though I definitely was not dressed for the neighborhood.
The gal who washed my hair was really funny and was gentle and thorough. Luke was my stylist and in addition to being a sweetheart and good conversation, he is really good at his work. I walked in

Just got my hair cut by Mika, and I'm super happy with it. First of all, he's a super sweet guy who can make easy conversation and he really takes his time with your hair! My appointment was at 5, and (while I did get there close to 15 minutes late) he didn't finish till almost 7. I showed him a photo and he took his time really making sure that he understood what I wanted, and asking clarifying questions and trying to understand my hair type (I have pretty curly hair, but it was long when I walked in and had been pulled back in a bun all day, so the outer layers were relatively

The salon did not make clear that they would cancel our confirmed appointment for wedding make-up for the entire bridal party without a debit card. They claimed to have called the hotel to let us know but mysteriously they also booked the make up artist with other appointments so there was no way for him to come. Talk about being left at the altar! This party will never book Piet again for a wedding make up session! Very unreliable salon and rude too.

Aside from the fact that Michael seems like a nice enough man who has been doing this a LONG time the whole experience was awful. He never discussed the color with me - just had his assistant mix it up.
the color began to fade after the second week....really awful
Ive been to the best in NY - and this is NOT it...given the price, especially.
small additional item, but if you're not 20, it might matter, the chairs for hair washing are torture to sit in....

I am usually not fond of New York hairdressers because they think they know better than the costumer and then just does what they want. Vartali is far from doing that, on the contrary, they did EXACTLY what I wanted and I could not be happier.
Besides from the colorist assistant ( who thought she was to fight a war on my scalp when washing my hair ) both Colorist and Cutter were perfect. Listened and knew what they were doing.
What I also loved about it was also that there were no products displayed at the desks you are sitting at. The haircuts are expensive enough
