To start off this review I want to give background my hair was horrible going into any salon and I really needed a place that would fix everything from the flat shape to the color due to another overpriced salon sadly, ruining my curls. When looking for a salon I was intrigued initially seeing that alibi used hair care that is completely detergent free. I wanted to make an appointment and called both numbers on the website, both of which did not work. I then emailed and was told to use the online booking tool. Do you really not think I tried that already?? I had went on your "booking tool" and doesn't allow me chose a stylist or date- those are key details for a "booking tool". I then emailed again and was told that all stylists (ALL!!) where booked up. How are all your stylists booked up forever?? I wasn't even provided an option to chose a date. I'm trying to

I paid almost 200 dollars for a awful haircut by Koby. That guy cut my hair so badly it totally did not suit me. I walked out of there looking like I was going through a midlife crisis but am trying to still hold on to my youth with a funky looking haircut. As if that wasn't bad enough he sold me a bunch of hair products. Total waste of money. It's been weeks and my hair still looks horrible.

Poor service/unprofessional staff (owner), dingy unkept space. Came in for a cleanup men's haircut as my usual salon cutler did not have availability and alibi somehow had good reviews online, ended up with a military buzz cut. Staff (owner) was rude and unprofessional after they mixed up the time of my appointment, would not recommend this place for an overpriced buzz cut in a dark loft w cocky owner who is a hair stylist after all, and clearly lacks business acumen in a service industry. I love salon alibi soho! I found it accident while traveling in Nyc. Koby is a master with special technique ! Austin colors my hair with Picasso style talent . G gives amazing hand and head massage, along with the entire staff , extra sweetness is given to take care and always make sure I'm comfortable -- I now travel from Chicago to NYC just to cut -& color my hair ..and to see and hang out with this great staff at alibi!!!

Excellent salon with a very cool downtown vibe. I have been coming here for a long time for color and cuts. If you happen to be able to snag an appointment with Kelly for a cut, you are in for a real treat! Super talented, and she even trains other hair stylists- really an expert-level cut. All the salon assistants are a blast too. They give great massages during the shampoo, and make sure you have a beverage of your choice during your service.

I have coming to Alibi for two years until recently the stylist butchered my hair.
Having the same hairdresser for the last 2 years, I trusted that the trim he had offered when I came in was going to suit my fine long hair. Instead he chopped so deep into the front of my hair that it looks like a mullet. When I complained, he told me to contact him when in starts to grow in and the salon manager refused to offer me a color service to fix the fact that the front lower part of my front hair had now no color (cut away by Austin) and looked mousy instead of ombre. They did offer a refund of the service

I wasn't a current client and yet I was able to get an immediate appointment on my birthday and they treated me like a queen. I was impressed with the happy attitude of all the staff, who also made a point of saying Happy Birthday. I received a complimentary glass of champagne & aromatherapy hand massage. The stylist, Chieko, gave me a fresh & current take on my hair style and now I will be a returning client. I feel like I got the Fashion-Forward-NYC treatment without the painful wallet experience. Oh, and I had forgotten my wallet at home

I went here yesterday for color by Amanda May. I saw an article she contributed to in InStyle about hair strobing. I have never gotten balayage but wanted to try something new. I was extremely impressed with her and the salon as a whole.

UPDATE - Wanted to check in after my 1st cut+color touch up. Appointment was 2 weeks ago and cut and color are very much in tact and growing out nicely. Amanda May reevaluated my grown out, heavy locks - kept the length (long layers) and added plenty of movement. She added very thin, faceframing highlights. This allows me to let all grow out gradually, with the newer color focusing at the front. Love this girl!

Best haircut of my life! I can't get over how great my hair looks and how wonderful my experience was with Icie. She asked me what I wanted which was a simple long haircut with visible layers and she certainly delivered. I often ask for layers at other salons and am given long layers which i can't see and which quickly grow out. From start to finish, the experience was above and beyond.
She used great products on my hair, washed and massaged my scalp, and was very focused and precise with her technique. I have typical long hair and am not very particular with my haircuts but this one

He totalllyyy convinced me ( iam stubborn) of everything he recommended for my hair. I can literlly say he is a hair Guru. I live in Canada and whn i knew i am gona visit NYC, i searched online and i was impressed with Koby's work . He is SO DAMN PROFFESIONAL. I went through Salon Apprentice to find a complimentary haircut and I got one from Icie, but there were also other students practicing on models when I went. Obviously I cannot comment on the full service (sounds like they give complimentary drinks!) because mine was a learning session and actually took a long time.
This was my first time being a hair model for anyone and I was pretty nervous. The teacher was always there to double check and my haircut (long bob) turned out wonderfully!

The staff at Alibi is absolutely amazing! From the owner, Koby, who is a true artist, to the stylists, to the shampoo girls, everyone loves what they do, and takes pride in their work.
I went in for a mini makeover. I have had long, straight hair for a few years, and knew it was time for a change. I wanted to go for the super modern mid-length cut that's totally on trend right now. I searched all over Manhattan for the right salon to help me look like a super model. And I am so glad I found Alibi! Thank you Koby and Amanda! Can't wait to come back from Hawaii and see you again
