So I wanted to get a last minute haircut today, but since most salons were fully booked or didn’t allow walk-ins, I went to 22 Pell Hair instead. I had James as my hairdresser and he did a PHENOMENAL job! The staff was also very friendly, and the place itself was clean and spacious as well. Would definitely come back again!

I popped in for a last-minute haircut at 22 Pell Hair Salon and I had the best haircut of my life! Kelly was incredible. I have chemically treated hair that needs to be cut well in order for it to look good and Kelly delivered just that. It was a no-frills, affordable experience, but the quality of Kelly's cut rivals any boutique salon in the city. She has earned a customer for life. Thanks again, Kelly!

Came for a color and cut on a Sunday. I had to change my appointment multiple times but they were always so accommodating. Their customer service is amazing and probably the best I ever had. Martin was my stylist, whom my friend recommended. He walked me through the whole process and explained to me what my options were. Since I was a blonde balayage at the time, he said that I had to bleach my whole head to achieve the color I want or else I would have too many shades of color in my hair. I wanted an ash brown color with lighter highlights. I expressed to him I wanted more dimension. I trusted

I came here on recommendation to fix a haircut that was not quite what I wanted it to be. Recommendation was from a close friend and had my hair fixed by Samson. REALLY liked the attention he took to analyzing what the other stylist went wrong. And he TOTALLY understood the cut that I was going for. It was just too bad that she had cut off too much to really fix it.

I had Ching as my stylist. She did a fantastic job on my lonngggg hair. She gave me lots of long layers and did an excellent job making sure it was symmetrical and well layered. Will be going back for sure.

Love this place! I think it's hard to find a place that listens to your concerns about your hair type and the specific style you want. Not only does Pell do this, the employees here are so skilled and experienced. Tony gave me a wash, cut, and perm. I liked how he explained every step so I understood exactly what he was doing, giving me ability to give my own ideas of what I wanted.

I also appreciate how Tony and the rest of Pell 22 care deeply about their customers' satisfaction with each cut/job. Meaning, it felt like they really cared that i was happy with the result (instead of

2 weeks ago I got a hair cut in Brooklyn with my usual hair dresser. The hair cut came out terrible and uneven on both sides. I wasn’t happy and I told my hair dresser that right side seems to be longer than left side. He looked and says no, it looks fine! There was no style whatsoever, and he made shorter than I expected. I had a walk-in appointment, for a haircut and balayage. I actually didn't come in wanting a balayage but after hearing how reasonable the price was, especially compared to other salons, I decided to go for it. The hairdressers working on me were extremely dedicated, working past closing time to finish my hair. I loved the results, will be a returning!

I've been getting my hair done at 22 Pell Hair Salon for over a decade, but writing an updated review since I just got my hair colored again! Tony is the only person who knows how to handle my frizzy hair, and I wouldn't dare trust anyone else with my hair.

But first, speaking of the pandemic, I want to mention that the salon has excellent protocols in place, with partitions between all chairs, mask wearing, and constant sanitizing. My first time visiting this salon. It was a great experience. All I wanted was to add some texture to my dyed hair. Kelly did an amazing job. I left feeling very satisfied. Will definitely be coming back whether it's to style or get a cut.

Good and honest people work here! I stumbled here by chance as I was at a wrong address for a different service. I initially left and spent a few minutes outside searching on my phone. Tony a hair stylist must have seen me struggling because he came out and suggested a place down the street.
I wasn't planning on getting my hair done, but I casually asked Tony if I needed to get my hair re-bleached (I balayaged my hair 2 months ago, and it was becoming brassy). He said that wasn't necessary as it would damage my hair, but he gave me a great price to get it toned to violet ash.

After an excellent experience with a haircut, I had my hair color botched by Pell 22. It came out a completely different color and tone than we discussed. Another woman was there at the same time as me and was also upset with how her hair color turned out. I wanted to work with a stylist I was comfortable with, but was pressured into working with someone new.
I should have stood my ground. The colorist had many other clients and left the toner in my hair way too long, turning it gray.
They tried to remedy the issue with a free product. Overall, I found the staff here

I was a regular three years ago but then I moved away for a while so I wasn't able to visit them for a long time. This week I finally paid this place a visit and they are as good as I remembered. My stylist was Martin and he was very attentive and skillful like always l. I think this place and Martin is the best I had in the last few years. I was not confident in short hair until Martin cut my hair, previously I tried many different places in New York because I really want to have short hair, and this is the best place in my opinion! Their price went up a little bit but still reasonable.

When doing the men's PERM treatment she got perm solution in my eye and did a half adequate job with the wash . Spent 300 on medical visit and dermatologist visit afterwards
My entire hair smelled like strong solution for a month. This establishment has no idea what they're doing and are a hazard to public safety.

I had an amazing hair transformation at Pell 22! Deciding to try a new hair color is always risky and scary but my hair stylist Tony was very dedicated and gave me a detailed explanation of how he was going to achieve the burgundy red I asked for, and reassured me and made sure I understood how everything was going to work out. I loved how transparent he was, and my hair came out better than I could've imagined. I previously had grown out bleached blonde hair, and now I have beautiful crimson hair that looks so healthy and vibrant. 10/10 service, 10/10 results.

Last Friday friend and I wanted to get a shampoo+cut before dinner in Chinatown, and decided to stop by Pell 22. I've been to some hair salons on Pell, but saw that this place was rated highly on Yelp so I decided to give it a shot... and they definitely did not disappoint! They spray the bottoms of your shoes with disinfectant and give you sanitizer before you walk in. We put our jackets in separate, disposable plastic bags, were asked if we preferred any particular stylist (no pref for us) before getting our hair shampooed. SOOO happy with the cut I got from James! He's sweet, attentive, and gave me exactly what I wanted. He never tried to upsell me on anything and mentioned he's been cutting hair for 25 years which I totally believe by the way he was handling those scissors! He's also clearly willing to try new and modern styles cause when I asked for a mushroom cut, he was 100% supportive and excited to do it. Will definitely be returning here!

Giving this salon a 5* for Ching talking my bf out of going bald and shaving his head off! I told him he might be single if he came out with no hair but looks like we're still together.

I waited for him outside the salon but I did see someone take his temperature and give him hand sanitizer before he entered the salon.

My mother gets her hair done by Tony and my brother gets his hair done by Samson. I have been getting my hair cut from Tony since my initial review of this place but have since found a closer hair salon for myself in Brooklyn. My mom and brother continue to visit their stylists at this location. Samson is really talented at cutting my brothers hair. My brother's hair is receding but Samson cuts and styles it very nicely to suit his face which is why my brother has become a loyal customer of his. Tony also dyes, cuts, and styles my moms apple bob hairstyle and she won't go to anybody else
