My curly friend told me I needed to go to Lori - her go-to for years. My friend has beautiful, long curly hair so I knew I would be in good hands.
Sure enough, Lori greeted me with a smile and we got into my hair journey. I have very fine, wavy hair that's moderately damaged from heat and chemicals. Also hadn't cut it in years! We cut the dead ends off and added some layers. We did a dry cut but it wasn't uneven like the DevaCut I received in the past. We made sure everything was even so that I have the option to heat style my hair.

Everyone was super friendly and sweet. I received my haircut from Lorimar.
Unfortunately, I ended up with an uneven haircut with too much weight taken off the long and mid-length layers. The pieces of hair in the front are also uneven and too short (giving mullet vibes). I wanted to retain my length and grow my hair out, but I will now have to start over and cut a good amount of my length to fix the sloppy layers.
I did go back to Filament to try and fix it, Lorimar was sweet and touched up a few pieces, but there's not much to do until my hair grows out again.

Went to get my hair cut and styled to tailor my wavy hair. Kayla was my stylist and she was beyond amazing! She gave me advice on what to use for my hair, listened to my concerns and what I ultimately wanted and she delivered! I am finally in love with my hair. As a curly girl, getting my haircut is ordinarily a stressful experience. But from the moment I got to Filament, my worries were put to rest. Kayla was so kind and super knowledgeable about how curly hair works and what looks good. She took the time to make sure that my layers were sitting just right and that my curls were looking their best from every angle. The best haircut I've ever had. Everyone was so nice and I loved my stylist. I asked for a very specific hair color and he delivered, it looks great. My only issues are that my hair was cut shorter than I wanted it, and it is super dry. I said I wanted to maintain the length but just wanted a better shape, even brought pictures. I just think this salon isn’t for type 4 hair. Also, they didn’t deep condition my hair after bleaching it, and I’m not sure what products they used but it is so so dry with barely any curl pattern left. I know this happens with bleach but I’m still pretty frustrated. It’s very difficult when

I wanted to shout out to Daysa who helped guide me from the "long straight hair" days of my youth to the "naturally curly and chin length" days of my future. I was terrified of making the switch, but since my first short cut in 2019, Daysa guided me through using the right products and styling methods for my 2a/2b type hair. On 1/15/21 I had a haircut appointment with Kayla for a taper cut. Staff were professional and nice. Music was great. Kayla did a wonderful job cutting my hair - I really like how it came out. She was able to seamlessly blend my grown out undercut to my new hair cut. We worked together to perfect the length.
The place was clean, everyone wore masks, the chairs were sanitized after each client, social distancing was in full effect. Your temperature is checked upon entry, and there is hand sanitizer for your use. There is also one chair in between each client (2 at a time).

This is a pre-COVID review. I found filament on Yelp when I was in need of a trim and blowout. I was transitioning my hair at the time from relaxed to natural so it was hard for me to find places that could properly blowout and straighten my hair without damaging it or having it frizz up. I came here and got Kayla as my stylist she was able to trim my hair and fix the damaged section so that it wasn't as noticeable and then blowout my hair. It was honestly one of the best blowouts I've gotten. Kayla was so knowledgeable about what products I should use for my hair to help with the damaged

So far I've been here twice and got cuts from two different stylists, although the cost of a cut has been raised due to Covid, understandably, I love coming back because they always do specifically what I ask for. And my hair is not the easiest to manage, so I trust these gals. And that is a hefty compliment. Curly girls check them out!!

I am notorious for hating haircuts, to the point where i'll wait years inbetween or attempt to trim myself. I tried a 'curly' salon in chelsea and it didn't do anything for my hair and they didn't listen to me. I booked with Kayla on a whim and WOW. I can't rave enough about Filament! The experience is incredible from start to finish. From the second you walk in, you are greeted with welcoming service. The ambience in the salon is so comforting and homey and immediately makes me feel relaxed.

So, i walked into this salon looking and feeling a hot mess. My hair was falling out from dying it so soon. It was long and very damaged. My hair was not curling up.

With textured hair, getting a haircut is usually a disappointment because they cut your hair wet and do a blow out at the end. A regular stylist often has no idea how to cut hair to let it fall it's best naturally- that's where filament is awesome.
Lorimar cuts hair dry using the DevaCurl method, so that you can tell how the hair will fall. After a luxurious wash and condition (which they customize to your hair type), she touched up the cut further to make sure it was just right.
My hair went from dead and dry to bouncy and springy- I am definitely coming back soon when I need a touch
