Altho this company isn't local, they make every effort to resolve our maintenance issues in the apartment building satisfactorily. Their staff, especially Christelle, Emma & Kennedy are all very professional, helpful & supportive. They are very responsive, communicative and keep us informed as they try to resolve our issues.

So far so good - Doorstead has done a great job keeping us updated on the state of the property - we love the communication from both the business/listing side as well as the property maintenance side - high bandwidth communication is appreciated

Its early days but I appreciate the detail oriented approach, weekly status updates, openness about the state of the market, etc

OMG - Worst landlord ever. Stay away... They lie and deceive. They contract with owners guaranteeing a certain level of income (check out their own website) - if they don't make it, it comes out of their end - so they rip off tenants any way they can (again read their website for their own words on this!). When people moved in to a place - standard thing is to fill out a deficiency list and get settled - but here everything was rejected. The front door knob had fallen out! That took almost two months to argue about and get fixed. The garburator didn't work - they wouldn't

I am a tenant at one of the properties Doorstead manages. We have received only great services. Customer service is really great - they provide quick replies and follow-ups. Regardless if they are waiting on the owner for answers or approval, they let us know they're waiting to hear back. They're way better than our old apartment property manager.

I have the pleasure of working with various members of the Doorstead team (Taylor, etc.). Being the first time we rented out our place, we truly appreciated the the seamless and responsive technological approach (working online, viewing photos, doing emails, calls) of starting the property management process. The great thing that sets them apart from other property management companies is the "Guaranteed Rent" option (if your property is eligible) because it lets you know the company has some skin in the game as well. Among the worst PMs in the bay area. Avoid them like the plague.

Doorstead is among the very few PMs that uses a "lock-in" contract for owners (pay 50% of the rent amount to leave the contract). They'll make you spend weeks of effort and money on silly repairs like painting grout lines in the bathroom (!?) (I wish my bathroom had fresh paint between the tiles every year). Doorstead also uses overpriced vendors for most of these repairs like many of the other comments here say. OWNERS, If you're an honorable person or care about your reputation, stay away from this agency!
Don't bother to read the 5 star reviews as they're written by their automatic system!

The problem is a combination of how they treat the tenants as well as the type of owners they represent.
I moved to a property managed by them 2 months ago and didn't have a single day in peace.

I deeply impressed by Doorstead professional and high-efficient services. Actually, I was concerned about this never-heard company at the beginning. Even more, I have not met any employees of Doorstead after I move in, only their contract onsite field associate.
Doorstead utilizes online high-tech to deliver its impressive services just as Uber or DoorDash. What a truly interesting, innovative and respectable real-estate management company I have ever met.

The team at Doorstead has been great! They managed many repairs and fixes to my property to my satisfaction. They are very responsive and have kept me updated on all processes, such as work projects to fix/repair things, costs/expenses, and in finding tenants. Very unprofessional staff. Several of my tenants told me that their maintenance requests are not being addressed in time. They needed to reach out to Doorstead 6,7 times over the course of several weeks to have a single request addressed.
This has affected my reputation as the owner and ended me up getting involved to find a resolution.
I do regret choosing Doorstead to manage my property as this has become a pattern.

I used professional property management services from Doorstead. The team at Doorstead is amazing. One such individual who stood out is Chris from the property mgmt team, he is quite proactive, on top of every thing, picks up the phone and calls the owners to give regular updates and a true problem solver. A true silicon valley company which follows the principle of compassion and emapthy.

Still horrible service, the tenant prescreen questionnaire is a joke. Filled out the survey twice in the past month and never heard back until the property is rented which is pointless. Also they assured me a refund on my application fee in august 2020 from their mistakes in tenant screening process but never received a refund.

We severed ties with Doorstead. They did not follow through on their obligations to us as homeowners.

Doorstead also did a poor job of vetting vendors, and their costs were exorbitantly higher than those of the vendors we eventually hired on our own. Doorstead clearly does not negotiate or advocate for the homeowners they claim to represent.

Doorstead's property inspector, Vlad, made fraudulent flags on repairs that were "required" before they would move forward with showing our home. Based on these flags, we hired vendors to make these repairs - only to learn from the vendors

The team managing my apartment has been great! Kennedy has been consistently prompt in responding to all my maintenance concerns since move in and I've had a good experience even when we ran into challenging issues. As a landlord working with doorstead has been a nightmare. They made me do repairs that was unnecessary. After which they are cramming 6 bachelors on a 4 bedroom 2.5 bath townhome whereas I was told they only rent to families initially by Jordon. The rent I am receiving is comparable to other similar properties in the same area and according to Zillow estimate. Nothing like they advertise initially as top dollar rent. Also be prepared for a huge time loss as they are very inefficient.
I am questioning the validity of some reviews now.? I would not recommend Doorstead service to any landlords

A few previous reviews says the business is hard to work with as a tenant.
As a landlord, I also found doorstead process very frustrating.

We chosed doorstead's guaranteed plan in hope of a "free mind", however it's very stressful and disappointing all the way along.

1. Their so-called "vendors" are in very bad quality.
Our water heater and AC broke on the same night so we trusted them to call their "vendor", Ernesto, to fix both issues, hoping the best for the tenant ASAP.

I have worked with the team at Doorstead for a little over 2 months, That's all it took to rent my SF condo! They have been great every step of the way and have really taken care of the property.

The team is seamless and effectively screened prospective tenants and found a great pair to rent my SF condo. The timely responses and fantastic maintenance is priceless. I never had to worry that a need would not be taken care of.

The customer service they provided is impeccable.

Really frustrating property managers to work with as a tenant.

All maintenance is handled by an outside service called Latchel which is terrible. The Doorstead folks, who I actually talk to, seem to have very little insight into the Latchel process and communication. Often I am hearing completely different information from several sources: Doorstead, Latchel, and then the handyman hired by Latchel - it can be very confusing.

The Doorstead/Latchel system encourages the quickest/cheapest/not-necessarily-best solutions to maintenance problems and so you end up with half-measures to fix issues.

Wow! What an amazing experience. Taylor,Chris and the Doorstead team made the process super simple. As a first time landlord, I really didn't know where to start or what to expect, but I knew I wanted to be a more hands off landlord. I needed a reliable partner to leave my property in LA in good hands. After doing my own research, it boils down to two names. I'm glad I chose Doorstead. Taylor and his team not only delivered excellent service, everything is transparent, professional and straightforward. They were able to deliver their promise in less than a month. Really disappointing company for a tenant as another reviewer said. Incredibly inconsistent communication, no transparency in rental process. Filled out their application online and then had no contact from them.
Once I had contact, there was no greeting, no explanation of who they were, no explanation of process to go through to rent the home.
I do not trust this company and given their actions during this process of trying to rent a home, I do not feel comfortable renting through them.
Will steer clear of any rentals offered by Doorstead. Very disappointed. Do not recommend.
