Hotel Harrington has been my go-to hotel for the past 5 years when I go to DC (pre-COVID was at least once every three months).
This past visit was my first time staying there since early 2020. We got sent to the 11th floor only to discover that the room they gave us already had people inside it. So, we had to go back down to the desk, wait in line, and go back up to the 11th floor. The elevator door got jammed and we had to push it to get it to fix. The water was either melt your skin off hot or ice cold. There was not complimentary water bottles in the room.
The positive was the parking situation

Recently,I stayed in this charming hotel for eight nights. It is an "oldie, but a goodie".I was pleased with my room.I found the staff to be efficient. The location was wonderful, since I was so close to the museums and monuments that I relish.I would definitely stay there again. The price was right. The shower in my room needed improvement(the water pressure was weak). Kudos to this hotel rich in Washington,D.C History.

The location is fantastic and probably the only redeeming quality of this hotel. The rooms desperately need TLC. The carpets are stained. The furniture is sticky and gross. The walls are visibly filthy. The shower tiles are cracking and there is colorful mold in the grout. The shower water fluctuates from extremely hot to freezing cold. The cleaning service doesn't replenish towels or coffee daily even after being asked to do so. The lobby smelled like urine.

I think its great. most of the time i was exploring so I didn't need a cush cush place. Rooms are clean, staff are super friendly. The food at the restaurant was delicious. you really can't beat it for price, location and accessibility. Need a taxi they will help you with that to. So its a little outdated who cares it has everything you need and the customer service I think was outstanding. Definitely gonna stay here again when I come back.

If you've ever seen the movie "The Shinning" you would expect the twins to meet you down the hall. "Red run"!
The price might be reasonable but the rooms should never fall short of cleanlines. Popcorn ceilings, bathroon floor was disgusting, poor drainage in the tub. Two watt bulbs in the room. TV the size of a lab top. Front desk personnel very professional and friendly but the surprise was the rooms sad, sad. Great location. Owner should really reinvest with updates.

Friendly efficient staff. Clean rooms. Decently priced for DC. Historic hotel/building. Harriet's restaurant is open, good food, access from lobby or street. Harry's is open good food, bar, outside area, street access only... Walking distance to the Mall, restaurants, cafes, clothing/shoe stores, metro/bus stop.... Great experience!

BEDBUGS! Do not stay here. My siblings and I stayed here for 4 nights and all ended up with bug bites. We had no bites when we arrived and by the time we left we each had 3-6 bites on our stomachs, chests and necks. We told hotel management when we first noticed the bites and they told us that they looked like mosquito bites but they will check it out anyways. Housekeeping came to our room and the first thing they did was complain about how late we reported it since their shift was almost over and they didn't want to take the time to tear our room apart. We also had to completely leave the

Looking at The Hotel Harrington's sign, you'd think it resembles the Batman logo. Would this be a hotel Bruce Wayne would go to?Â
I myself can't answer that question, because I haven't slept here. However, I have walked inside the hotel years ago and found it looked rundown. Â
Still, I would give this place the benefit of the doubt. Aside from seeing pictures that show a bad air duct and a few other things, I wonder how the restaurant food is?

The staff was extremely friendly and polite. They helped with any directions I needed as well as information that I needed.
The hotel does need some updates but for my daughter and myself it was not an issue. We were not in our room all that much because we were out exploring the city and all that it has to offer.

So having been to DC before, I knew the hotel rooms are usually on the small side. I picked Hotel Harrington for the price and location to all the big touristy places.
I arrived on a Sunday with my cousin. We got a room with two twin beds. Upon entering the room, we immediately noticed the stained carpet, the dings and paint chipping on the walls/baseboards. The radiator in the bathroom was on full blast heat, same with the room. Since the air conditioning unit is old, we didn't know how to turn it down at first so we propped open the window. I also opened the window in the bathroom which

Sure, it's shabby and dated and gives off vibes of your grandparent's apartment in 1988, BUT my room was very clean and it cost at least $100 less than everywhere else nearby on less than one week's notice. Can't complain much when you consider the location. Bring your own towel because the bath towels provided are tiny and threadbare. On the plus side, they gave me four bars of soap, yay hygiene. The greasy spoon attached to the hotel is depression incarnate and best avoided, but the good news is that your room has an electric kettle so that you can go get some instant ramen

I'm going to try my best to be tactful with this review. If this is truly the oldest operating hotel in DC, then that's fun, but it's definitely not old in the charming, grand, historic sense... it just seems old and cheap. I'm giving two stars as a courtesy, mainly based on the hotel's convenient location. I elected to "sleep" fully clothed without covers, and I used my backpack as a pillow. If I could've slept standing up or levitating, I would've.
I'm pretty laid back in general, but this place just grossed me out. Everything's pretty

Booked this room on Hotwire.com and the pictures on the site are deceiving and over embellished. Quite a surprise to see the actual room.
The room was doable for a one night stay if all you're going to do is sleep there. The hotel is a bit antiquated. The rooms are small with closet depths of your hand. We booked two rooms and weren't impressed with either.
Hair was found in the sink & the comments card from the last guest was still in the room with the last clients message about the room needing a light repaired. Who knows how long it's been there and the light still needs

CREEPY! UNPLEASANT, FEELS UNSAFE, BETTER OPTIONS/VALUE ELSEWHERE
Taken in by the potential charm of a vintage property and moderately good reviews, we signed up for two nights at Hotel Harrington--but bailed after the first. Now I know, when people talk about run down old hotels that have been converted into public housing as warehouses for those waiting to die, what that space might feel like.
There's virtually no public space beyond a tiny lobby and the hallways. So forget being out of your room, or finding a quiet corner to read or converse, unless you're willing to pay for the restaurants

Won't recommend this location to any one.
The property is not maintained well. Was not clean. Very old and unclean bedding.
Things were broken and not in working conditions. Bathrooms doors won't lock. Main door locks are not proper.
Air conditioning was not working properly. It was hot and humid in the room. Rooms were untidy. The Centralized AC inlet was making too much noise. Whole night it there was lot of noise from that vent.
The only good thing is location of this Hotel other than that nothing is good about this hotel. Please do not book this Hotel it will ruin your experience

I wasn't expecting too much from this hotel, but wow--the Harrington really is dated. If you didn't know before, it's the "oldest continuously operating hotel" in DC and has plenty of history to it. Having stayed here for a night, it sure appears as if the last renovations were done at least 30 years ago. However, for its price, the basic amenities are all there--and there's free wi-fi. I read both Yelp and TripAdvisor reviews for this place before deciding to stay here.
