Worst hotel experience. first we paid in full before checking in & had a card on file for charges. we get there they ask for a $200 deposit charge on card & wont accept cash. told us they put the money back when we check out. next day we check out & they tell us its going to take about 3 business days for them to put the money back. MIND YOU WE ALREADY PAID IN FULL & HAD THE CARD ON FILE. never experienced this in any other hotels ive booked. got charged $400 in a night just to stay in a $100 room & to be short $300 for the next ‘few business days’ is ridiculous. trash.

So I stayed at this hotel this weekend. Friday to sunday. Room 316 . Its only a few things I had a problem with. The wifi was connection was super weak and I did have phone reception in my room. So I had to use the hotel wifi. And it was not strong at all. Kept going on and off. So I recommend that you dont have them put you in a room towards the back cause you will not have cell phone reception. And the bathroom was super small and not a lot of room either the bedroom also. My advice would be upgrade to a bigger room. Front desk customer service was nice no complaints there. But yes get a

I checked in late at midnight and was tired so I didn't do my usual inspection. I woke up to a filthy bathtub so I couldn't take a bath and hat to take a shower instead in a filthy tub. As I had 15 minutes to check out it wasn't enough time to even get house keeping to rectify the issue and front desk wouldn't extend my check out time . Definitely overpriced for this experience

This hotel has a dishonest damage deposit policy on booking.com, I turned up at 1am having just landed on a flight from NYC and not only did they not have the right type of bed (twin beds instead of queen) but they also tried to charge me a $200 damage deposit. Their booking.com page said nothing about this but they didn't care, they even tried to claim they would charge it even if only stayed one night 🤣 so I would pay $80 for the room but pay a damage deposit of $200?! Absolute nonsense. Sorry but if you don't take out proper insurance or have bad guests that's your problem not mine and you

Did not expect much because of the price but:
1. Incompetent staff - At the beginning of my stay I asked the staff whether I can stay an extra night because I would like to extend my trip. The staff said she does not know and told me to wait in the lobby while she asked another staff who knows. She ended up telling me that nobody knows how to check me in for another night and I have to wait till the next morning to talk to the manager who knows what is going on.
2. Overbooked- I travelled with my husband and paid for a queen bed. Instead the hotel told me they only have twin bed and almost forced

Lots of construction going on. For the price, the service was not great and our shower didn't work. It stopped working after I was already in the shower for a minute. Along with this they have no caffeinated coffee? I called and asked if they had any, they said no, called me back, and then told me that they would bring some up only to end up bringing more decaf coffee. Meh experience especially for a very expensive fee.

This is maybe the worst flea-bag hotel I've ever been in. Booked months ago for a conference (for which every hotel around Union Square holds you hostage). I was able to book a "double" room. Absolutely awful. No central heat/AC - just a radiator. Terribly cold and tiny room. One reason for the cold I'm sure is because the "window" in the bathroom is glass shutters. Really. So you cannot fully close and seal it. It made the bathroom and the rest of the room freezing. Oh, and did I mention tiny? Look at the picture. Two twin beds a few feet apart. Like indoor camping

Stayed here for over a week for work. Tiny rooms and everything on the street might as well be in the room with you. Their WiFi is basically nonexistent. Can't even send an email out.
I was also eaten alive with what are probably bedbugs. I'm from Texas, and I'm accustomed to mosquitoes. These were no mosquito bites.
spend the extra cash and get a room at a higher end hotel. Your health will thank you for it.

Bedding and bathroom were very clean but not modern. The hallways to get to room are very narrow. The lighting the hallways are low enough for you to touch. The elevator can fit about 4 ppl or 5(without luggage).
And if your a person who needs AC (air conditioning ) in your room then this ISNT A HOTEL YOU WANT TO STAY AT! I brought an additional fan because the room ceiling fan wasn't enough.

A very good deal compared to the other hotels in the area. I really liked the lobby, it was clean with a European vibe to it. The lobby had a lot of activities for our family: dart board, pool table, nice bar, shuffleboard table and some board games. The room was a little small and slightly stuffy during the day with the kids. Some small paint chips throughout the room, and you can't open the windows. Overall a good deal with a lobby that is great for the family to hang out. Great location, we stayed here so we could just walk to the museum of ice cream. There's also a good breakfast

Excellent hotel downtown within walking distance of the Mascone Center, with a mod British charm. Came for a convention, and stayed on the first floor near the alley. The noise level was tolerable, although looking out and seeing a guy light a crack pipe was a bit unnerving.
Front desk service was excellent, as was the bell hop. Same for the bar staff and the maid service. Rooms and beds were clean and well kept. Really had no problem at all here. No in hotel eating, but good restaurants were within a very short walk. The in hotel bar was very good, but not the best in local wine selections offered

I wouldn't stay here again. Let's start with the pros: the King George Hotel is centrally located in downtown SF with close proximity to the BART. It's affordable and the lobby is fairly nice and comfortable. Staff was very friendly and they let me check in a few hours early. Nice.
Unfortunately, things start to go downhill once you get to your room.
Cons: The rooms are TINY. I'm talking smaller than your college dorm room. That's fine but for that size, this place should really be cheaper. The bathroom is also tiny. The windows must not be fully sealed, because a draft

I scored an awesome last minute(almost) deal on Christmas Weekend: 1 night for only $88! Normally you can expect to pay $100-200 night.
ROOM: Small!!! But very clean, elegant, and modern. Coffee/Tea machine. 50 inch LCD TV. Also a complimentary handy tablet to use. The bed mattress felt new and comfortable. The bathroom is equally tiny, but still clean and functional accompanied with fancy toiletries. My only gripe is that some crazy person was playing some drums from midnight to about 3:00am, and even on the 8th floor the thumping sounds came through the thin window, keeping me up most

This was my 2nd visit to SF, but 1st stay here at King George. My Mother stayed here the year prior and enjoyed her stay, as well as the convenient location of the hotel, and thus booked us for a one week stay. King George is conveniently located near Union Square where there is access to the municipal, cable carts, the Bart, and many retail stores like H&M, Urban Outfitters, Express, Uniqlo, and AT&T for those in need of a new cell phone lol. Btw, there are a lot of homeless people in the area, but that's just SF in general. My family and I had no issues with them, but if you are

Checked bag containing laptop went missing and three managers have stonewalled, failed to return phone calls and given conflicting information. No effort has been made to find this laptop which contains hours of work that needs to be re-done.
It's very suspicious. The staff knew my co-worker was checking out and had to catch an international flight so he can't work with the police. The manager promised to work with me to find the laptop and has now changed their minds.
This is stinky and anti-San Francisco. I hate to not recommend an independent business but these people are shady

I had originally booked our hotel room through my work corporate website at a great rate. We were only staying a day, and the hotel was centrally located to where we wanted to be and by the Bart station off Powell. When we arrived, the front desk service specialists were very kind, welcoming, and our room was ready even though we got there a few hours early which was a huge win for us.
Our room was a little ways down the hall from the elevator which was nice because we didn't hear any noise throughout the night. There was also a nice blackout curtain to keep the light out of the room. The
